I start with a little overview of the jigs and lures i'll be using for high speed trolling. This is a solo fishing trip so it's going to be a tough one. I have never done high speed trolling before and let me tell you, it is exhausting!
I fuel up at Tavernier Creek Marina and run out into the Atlantic Ocean towards the Islamorada humps. My main goal is to catch Wahoo today. Will I catch one? I start trolling around and manage to pick up some black fin tuna. Yummy!
After lots of high speed trolling I take a break and try some deep dropping over the islamorada humps. It's not long before I put in a nice amount of red snapper on the boat. Too bad they are out of season! I had to throw them back, but that's ok. I will catch those red snapper another day. Luckily I got a black fin snapper for the icebox. I will eat that fish later in the video. I catch and cook on the same day like a true champion
I try some more high speed trolling without too much more luck and then the worst thing ever happens. A massive fishing knot. Oh man what will I do?
Back at home I fillet the black fin tuna and freeze them for another day. I will be making sushi with that tuna later.
I eat the black fin snapper and it was amazing. This was another great catch n cook episode and I hope you enjoyed it!

I ride up from Vero Beach and meet my buddy Darren at the Wabasso boat ramp. We put the boat into the Indian River Lagoon and it's time to fish. I just love inshore fishing here in Florida.
It's hard to compare Florida offshore fishing vs. the inshore fishing here in Florida. They are both so different and both are very rewarding styles of fishing. We practice catch and release in the indian river lagoon. Mainly due to the pressures the Indian River has felt over the past decade. We love getting out there and catching fish and at the same time we want to preserve the fish and allow for the eco-system to thrive for future generations of fisherman.
We use mainly gulp and DOA plastic lures to catch our redfish, trout and snook. We also catch a few other species of fish like barracuda, pinfish and a ladyfish. I kept the ladyfish as bait for my deep dropping trip tomorrow.

I'm in Vero Beach visiting my parents for thanksgiving and managed to get in a great day of fishing. I meet up at the Wabasso boat ramp with my buddy Darren to do some florida inshore fishing in the indian river.
The mornings have a nice crisp feel to them and I can't be happier to be on a boat and catching some great fish. We only use artificial baits including gulp plastic lures and DOA plastic fishing lures. I love DOA lures. Gulps are great too, but they fall apart more. I use gulps when nothing else is getting the fish to bite and it usually works.
We find some great honeyholes and pull out all sorts of fish species. Trout, Red fish, Snook, Black Drum, Jack. It's an inshore grand slam. All our fishing today was catch n release. But that isn't going to stop me from making a catch n cook video!
Normally I don't like the idea of releasing a perfectly good to eat fish, but I grew up fishing the Indian River Lagoon and remember when there used to be grass flats and a much stronger environment. So when fishing back in this pressured eco-system we tend to release most of our catch.
I will use trigger fish from 2 videos ago in the catch n cook recipe. It turns out great and the parents loved it.
If you enjoyed this video hit that like button and subscribe to my channel, I appreciate all the help you guys give me in the comments and look forward to making many more videos to help show how to catch fish.

This catch n cook starts off with looking for bait. We don't find any along the mangroves, I need to figure out some better spots to get bait at. The Tavernier marina also had no live bait, except for shrimp, for sale.
We run offshore out of Tavernier creek and start running slightly south east to the islamorada humps. It's time to start offshore fishing! We drop our deep drop rig down on some bottom where I marked some fish. We are using cut blue runners for bait and quickly hook up. It's a red snapper! Dang season just ended for these! Or so I thought, it actually turns out that it's a yellow eye snapper. I could have kept it!
We keep on fishing and send down another deep drop rig. And almost just as fast catch a second yellow eye snapper. Since I thought they are not in season I didn't want to keep catching these fish so I ran a little north off the humps and started looking for action.
30 minutes of searching for fish go by until I marked some small spots on the sonar. We start vertical jigging and hook up. I catch a black fin tuna. Beata also catches a shark, that shark must have been hungry to go after a vertical jig!
We saw some dolphin and started chasing them instead of fishing. The girls love the dolphins. The flipper kind, not mahi mahi. It's now sunset time and we run home to make some awesome tuna fish tacos. We also eat lots of tuna raw dipped in soy sauce. You can't beat fresh fish the same day as your offshore fishing trip off key largo and islamorada. The Islamorada Humps

Fishing in Key Largo is quickly becoming part of my blood. I love to catch and cook these fish, we start this fishing trip by snorkeling at the christ of abyss statue in the john pennekamp coral reef state park located in Key Largo. It's the underwater jesus. It's an awesome sight. The underwater Jesus himself bless used to catch fish today!
Time to put up the dive flag and snorkel a bit! We saw many fish including mutton snapper, grouper and our targeted species the yellowtail.
After seeing so many fish we were excited and ready to catch some! We run out to the reefs edge off key largo florida and start running along the reef edge. I use my fish finder (sonar) to look for fish at the bottom.
After about 20 minutes I mark some serious balls of flag yellowtail and know it's time to start fishing! We anchor about 100 yards up current of where I marked all the yellowtail snapper. The key is to chum a lot. I even brought oats to chum this time. Yellowtail snapper love oats!
We quickly started catching the fish and it was game on! Flag yellowtail everywhere! This will 100% be a catch and cook video. We fill our coolers and run back home with a beautiful sunset.
At home we fillet the snapper and the girls blacken some of the fillets and we also fry some of the fillets. The fish turned out amazing and I can't wait to get back out on the water! I just love fishing in key largo. Florida is awesome!

I start this fishing trip by catching some live mullet in my marina. I had a feeling I was going to get some mangrove snapper, that's what I was targeting on this fishing trip.
I run out of my marina out of bakers cut and to the mangroves where I usually fish for mangrove snapper. I was determined to find the fish so I could make another catch and cook fishing video.
I find a nice spot in the mangroves in the key largo bay, florida and start to chum. After chumming for 10-20 minutes I toss out the first live mullet and sure enough I hook up. The first fish I caught was a jack crevalle. They are tough fighters! But no need for a jack so I threw the fish back in.
Caught some nurse sharks and more jack and finally started to catch the snapper. These are mangrove snapper also called gray snapper.
On my way back in to the marina I stop at some docks and cast another bait. Sure enough I hook into another snapper. Looks like this will be a good catch n cook. I have plenty of fish to cook.
I get back to the apartment and fillet the snapper for the snapper pancakes. This is my first time making fish pancakes and they turned out great.
I hope you enjoyed my catch and cook fishing video and I highly recommend trying to make some of these snapper pancakes yourself. I know fish sounds weird in a pancake, but this was awesome!

What is a boat Float Switch - Rule
This is the RULE boat float switch that I use in the video: http://amzn.to/2hCTBh9
I didn't know what a boat float switch was until I kept my boat sitting in the water for a few months. I quickly realized that when it rains the hull of your boat can sometimes start taking on water. So what happens if my boat is in the water and it rains and i'm on vacation?!
This is where the boat float switch can save the day! When water levels rise in your boat hull the RULE float switch will start to raise until it touches 2 wires and creating a complete circuit with the bilge pump, automatically turning on your bilge pump.
I am using the brand RULE super switch. It's about $40 and will hopefully last me the next 10+ years. The boat float switch will automatically turn on when water levels are too high in the boat. Which means it will drain out all the water so you can keep on floating!
What is a boat Float Switch - Rule. Well now you know!
Happy boating!

Catch and Cook | Keys Patch Reef Fishing
I start this fishing trip looking for live bait, I don't find any in the key largo bay so decide to run offshore to the patch reefs just south of tavernier key.
The first thing I use for bait are glass minnows. I see some good fishing action on these baits. Then after I got some ballyhoo in my chum slick I cast netted a bunch of them and started to use cut ballyhoo. This caught me some small yellowtail and a couple decent mangrove snapper. Also called gray snapper.
I caught a few other fish like pinfish, grunts and even a black grouper. The sun was going down so I raced back home. Where I breaded the snapper fillets and fried them with some rice. It tasted great and I can't wait to get back out on the water! Watch till the end to see how to fillet snapper and how to cook snapper.

I didn't have much sunlight left for fishing so instead of trying to get live bait I decided to fish artificial baits. The first fail happened when I loaded up my car to drive to the docks but my batter was dead. Then I had packages waiting for me so I had way too much fishing gear and amazon stuff to carry. That was the 2nd fail.
Then I spill all my water all over myself when I start driving the boat. I get lures stuck in the mangroves. But yea it's all in fun. I can never have a bat time when fishing in the key largo bay.
Despite so many fishing fails I got to see some of key largos beauty and caught a small ladyfish, better than nothing. So maybe it's not a fishing fail after all. It's not a fail it was a success!
I hope you enjoyed the video! These probably aren't any sort of top fishing fails, but I have some funny stuff coming up. Leave a like and sub to my channel for more videos almost daily! I've been working hard on them.

I decided to run further offshore to the reefs edge and try my luck with spearfishing. With all the chum I was spreading around it felt more like I was just feeding fish.
Soon I came across 2 big eels. One eel kept to itself but the other eel was more aggressive coming out at me when I got near it. I still had a nice piece of chum left so this is where it all started.
Feeding a wild moray eel while spearfishing. I took the chum block out of the bag and swam down to the eel and gave it the chum. It didn't take long before it grabbed it and crept back into it's weird little eel hole.
Btw, this was a green moray eel.
I also saw a lot of other cool things while spearfishing you'll see in this video.

You heard that right. This is a catch n cook episode. I went fishing for mangrove snapper and indeed that's what I caught. It's been about a week since eating fresh fish from the last deep dropping catch and cook video so I was desperate to catch some good fish.
I also caught a schoolmaster, which is a type of snapper and it had a very strange growth on it. Check it out and let me know if you can identify whatever strange things was growing on that snapper.
The FWC, Florida fish and wildlife conservation came up to my boat to see what I was doing. Sure enough I wasn't doing anything strange hah. They didn't ask to go through my things or anything and left me alone. In fact, the FWC complimented my boat which made me pretty happy.
Overall I caught tons of small mangrove snappers. And i'm sure you can guess but they were caught in the mangroves. It wasn't my best day of fishing ever but it was still a great time.
The catch n cook is at the end of the video. I cook the snapper whole and it turned out great!

Our main goal was to deep drop for tilefish and maybe some big snapper but we get something else instead! Overall this was a great fishing trip and I had tons of fun as always with my friends.
Before we start fishing I show some of the destruction on my way down to Summerland Key. While I was driving Lee had to drive all the way to Key West in order to get gas for the boat. Lee's house was destroyed and the water went up almost 3 feet inside his room so pretty much everything was destroyed.
We start the fishing trip by trying to cast net bait, without any luck we run out to about 90ft where we find some great bait for deep dropping. I caught a kingfish which turned out to be some yummy bait for the Rosies we end up catching.
After catching bait and some other fish we run further offshore to 600+ feet deep water. We drop our first baits down on a 5lb lead weight. It doesn't take long before we get our first bite. Turns out to be a Rosie. A Rosie is actually from the scorpion fish species and taste great. They have a very flavorful white meat and I highly recommend you try them!
Rosies are actually Blackbelly Rose Fish. But we just call them Rosies. They are awesome fish!
After our fishing trip we cook up 2 of the fish on the grill and they were amazing. At the end of the video we cook up 2 of the fish. It's a catch and cook, but I didn't show any part of preparing the fish so I didn't title this one a catch n cook. But basically we just scaled it, gutted it, put 2 slits in the meat to help it cook on both sides of each fish and then threw it whole on the grill.

The main goal in my mind is to catch some lobster, Beatas main goal is to relax. She does not do any spearfishing, so it's up to me to catch dinner!
To summarize what happens on this spearfishing trip. We go to a big coral head that had a bunch of black drums under it, but I didn't bother trying to shoot those. I swim around and find a few more rocks but nothing that great. So we move to a better fishing spot with more rocky bottom. It's not long before I find a mutton snapper. I found a lobster at the fishing spot before too. Then after lots of swimming around I decide to release all the chum in the chum bag. This causes a bunch of snapper to ball up behind the boat. I shoot another smaller snapper and gut and descale it so I can have it for lunch later.
On the drive back to our marina in key largo we also spot dolphins and manatees. And not the mahi mahi kind of dolphin! The mammal ones that are friendly! Not the dinner kind! hah
I didn't use music in this video, let me know what you guys think about that.
Thanks for watching! Plz like the video and subscribe to my channel. Thanks!

Baked Trigger Fish Cheese Dip
A few videos ago I caught some trigger fish, in this video I use those triggerfish to make baked fish cheese dip.
I've been making this for a couple years now. I'm actually surprised more people don't make baked fish cheese dip. There are not any recipes online about it so I decided to make a video about how I make it.
I usually improvise a little bit each time depending what ingredients I have in the fridge but overall it's very simple.
1. Get your fish fillets (I prefer whiter meat fish)
2. Bake the fish for 20-30 min. at 350 degrees (until its all cooked)
3. Dry the fish with paper towel
4. Crumble the fish into a bowl and add other ingredients (mayo, cream cheese, chives, parsley, salt, pepper, cheese, sour cream, whatever you want)
5. Add a layer of cheddar cheese on top.
6. Add into a bowl and put back in oven at 350 degrees for 10-20min.
6. Broil at the end for a few minutes
That's all there is to it!
There's no wrong way to make this recipe. Also, remember you do not have to use trigger fish. This recipe works great with snapper, hogfish, cobia, mahi and anything that has a white meat.
I hope you enjoyed this video I know I loved eating all the fish dip after I was done making this video. I ate all of it in one sitting watching some netflix.

Today I am heading down from key largo on a 1-2 hour drive to summerland key. This is where i'll meet with my buddy Lee and Mark. I've known Lee most of my life growing up in Florida. A few years ago we used to live together near Key West and did some commercial bullynetting together. But today the goal is to catch some snowy grouper deep dropping. I am bringing my daiwa tanacom 1000 electric reel to see what sort of fish we can catch fishing today.
A small spoiler alert: We catch some great fish and have a open fire catch and cook near the end of this video. It tasted amazing! There is nothing better than cooking your fish the same day you catch it.
South Florida has some amazing fishing and today we will be running off summerland key. Our first stop is in about 90ft deep at a wreck where we load up on bait. We catch lots of blue runners and bonita. The perfect baits for deep dropping. We will cut up these baits to use for the deep drop. When deep drop fishing you can never have enough bait! You never know how many drops you will be doing!
We run several miles offshore and finally get to the grounds. We drop some cut bonita. We run into a few flukes but it's not long before we catch the first tile fish while deep drop fishing. I love tilefish.
This specific tilefish is also known as the gray tilefish. Later in the video this is the one that we catch and cook. The electric reel had no problem bringing the fish up to the top. We also catch a Rosie and another tilefish.
Then we move spots to another location and it wasn't long before my deep drop rig got caught on the bottom and broke the line. There goes $50! So we head back to the other spot where we caught the tilefish.
While running to the old spot we see lots of tuna jumping around. So we start to troll a feathered jig and before we know it we land a skipjack tuna. We circle around and cast back out and catch another tuna.
We get back to our old deep drop spot and drop down some cut tuna. At this point we had grouper on our minds. That's all we wanted! And sure enough we get ourselves a nice snowy grouper!
Florida was setting its sun and it was time to run back to summerland key. When we got back to the keys we wrapped the tilefish in some banana leaves and cooked it on an open fire in the grill. The tile fish tasted amazing and was cooked perfect.
The grouper will be saved for another day. The sad part about this video is my friend Lee's house that you saw was almost completely destroyed by hurricane Irma. His walls had a waterline 3 feet off the ground. Everything was ruined, but no worries. We grew up in Florida and a hurricane can't scare us. We will rebuild and get back to fishing before you know it!
If you enjoyed this video please hit the like button and subscribe!
Let me know if you like the catch and cook videos to be combined or if you prefer having the cooking videos seperate.
Thanks

Chum Spill! Hurricane Irma Key Largo Update
After spending the last 3 weeks visiting Slovakia, Germany, Prague, Bulgaria and Austria we are back in Key Largo!
This is what we came home to... A massive chum leak because of the Hurricane Irma! Fishing chum was literally spilled everywhere. Squid, Ballyhoo and a bunch of fish carcasses were also in the mix that I intended to use on my upcoming spearfishing trips.
During hurricane Irma we lost power for about a week which caused the chest freezer to turn off and everything inside melted. I had no idea it would be able to leak out of the chest freezer. Somehow the plug that is supposed to prevent that from happening didn't work at all! So now my key largo home smells horrible.
But the good news of this update is that my boat and car and apartment came out on top! Other than the chum spill of course. But hey, SHT happens as they say.
The last part of the video is some footage from the neighborhood I run in across the street and some of the damage they sustained from Hurricane Irma. Overall I'd say Key largo did pretty well. \
I know that some places like Pilot House, the marinas and hotels sustained much more damage so I hope they recover quick. I already miss my brie cheese appetizers from the Pilot house.
I have a couple fishing videos that I never had a chance to upload before the hurricane so I will be uploading those this week. One is a real good deep dropping video that I can't wait to post!
I hope you guys enjoy the update and make sure you subscribe so you are notified when I upload the new fishing videos. Cheers everyone!

Trigger Fish - Florida Keys Solo Fishing Trip
Originally I started the day looking for yellowtail, but turns out the trigger fish showed up along with a few other species. I ran out on this solo fishing trip and ended up having a great time.
I have been super busy the past couple weeks with my company but I have big plans for this channel and upcoming fishing trips. I have almost 8 fishing trips already planned for october. We are going big here in the florida keys.
I would like to extend an invitation to all fellow fishermen in the area that want to fish with me feel free to reach out to me. If you have any questions about fishing leave a comment
Originally I wanted to catch yellowtail so bad, but I found the trigger fish. Which is great because since moving to the florida keys I picked up a recipe. Baked Trigger fish cheese dip. It's the best thing ever. My girlfriend and I ate 2 whole trigger fish in this fishdip form and were in a out of body experience state of high. Yes we are savages. Mainly me. She thinks green. I think white fish meat.
In the beginning of the video you see me rocking my new lifejacket. I also have a EPIRB on the boat now, which is a beacon that i can activate anytime in a moment of emergency. I realized that running offshore, especially when i decide to troll can have its risks when running out on a solo fishing trip. It's up to you to take care of yourself and any engine problems that may arise.
That's all folks enjoy this video uploaded straight from the Florida keys. I hope you like trigger fish because my next video is how I make trigger fish cheese dip and i'ts going to be dope!

How To Cook | Potato Crusted Fish w/ Boiled Lobster
Potato crust: (1 shredded potato, parsley, chives, salt n pepper)
This is a recipe that I have made twice now. I came up with this one on my own after finding a potato in the fridge and not having any breading. You'll notice I spell potato potatoe the video. Apparently potatoe is the oldschool way of spelling it. Interesting...
Let's get to it! In this video I show you how to cook potato crusted fish with boiled lobster. And I don't only show how to cook this dish, but also how to fillet the fish and how to prepare the lobster before boiling it. I start with a whole hogfish which I then fillet into two nice manageable pieces.
The lobster also starts as a whole. First i remove the tail from it's head. Then I pull out the poop vein from the tail and crack the shell open. Now the lobster tail is ready to become a boiled lobster.
I decided to have a little bit of fun with this how to cook video since well... I like to have fun. Btw, this hogfish is the one I speared in my previous spearfishing video. I cooked this dish the same night I went spearfishing on that solo trip, but I have been so busy I haven't been able to get around to editing this cooking 'how to' video.
Let me tell you from first hand experience. The lobster was amazing. Nothing in my opinion beats boiled lobster dipped into some butter. And the potato crusted fish might be my new favorite way of eating fish. It's a super easy crust to make a highly recommended.
I hope you enjoyed this video and maybe even learned something. If you try making this recipe leave a comment below and let me know how it turned out!
Be sure to like and subscribe. Thanks!
Ps:
Here's the original script I wrote for this video hah:
Is your wife addicted to wine and pills? Is your loved one sleeping and it's only 6pm? Hi I'm heiko with the South Florida Fishing Channel and i'm going to show you hot to make potatoe crusted hogfish and boiled lobsters.
Just the smell will get their arsh out of bed and to the dinner table. So I suggest tying them down to the bed before we start cooking so you can eat it all for yourself.
The ingrdients are simple. A potatoe, Chives, Parsley, parmesian cheese, butter, salt and pepper and oil.
Jesus I almost forgot. The Hogfish. And the lobster.
Real man catch fish. They took our jobs
Why is this a whole fish. What am I going to do with this? Can somebody fillet this fish?
(fast forward filleting the fish)
First let's make the potatoe batter we are going to cover our fish.
Peel your potatoe and then shred it. shred. shred. shred. (videos of surfing and snowboarding)
Add your shreds to a bowl.
Add your chives, parsley and parmesian cheese.
Don't measure it just make sure it looks good. This isn't paula deen's damn cookbook.
Salt your fish and coat it.
Start heating a pan with some oil in it. We also have some water boiling here. Add some oil and salt to it. Drop in your lobster tail. Oh wait before I drop in the lobster tail. You wanna see how I cleaned it? this shows how to clean lobster to prepare it for boiling.
Rips tail from body! YAH! Breaks off antler. Shoves it into anus. Pulls out intestine. YAHH! slams knife to break top shell. ARG!
*Drops lobster tail into the water* plop
Now let it cook until it's ready, duh
*Frys the fish, flipping after its golden brown.
The key ingredient is some melted bu buddha bud du du budha... *shows pics of autism as microwaves spins and melts the butter* butter
When you fish is golden brown on both sides put them on some paper towels for a couple minute to soak any extra oil. Remove the tail when it's nice and white all the way through.
Add whatever side you want.
It's magic. Can you even believe? believes? beliefs? belive? belize? belize? I went to belize as a child.
*Zooms screen into smaller window on overlay showing heiko eating the fish*

Solo Florida Spearfishing Trip. HARD WORK pays off
I ran out Solo today to do some spearfishing. Well the main goal was actually to catch lobster. My boat is finally running again and it's time to get wet! All the hard work I put into this boat the past 2 weeks has finally paid off. And the Florida gods are going to reward me.
First i'll give you a peek into some of the days I spent working on the boat and trying to figure things out. I replaced all the fuel lines and changed the filters. I also replaced the primer ball. Everything was looking good, but then I discovered 3 of the spark plugs were not firing. I suspected it to be a stator problem. I don't know much about stators and how to diagnose them so I decided to hire a mechanic for this. That was all I needed and now the boat runs super smooth. Read to take a trip anytime any day.
I don't recommend spearfishing on a solo trip, but I really just couldn't help myself. I was too eager for some florida spearfishing. So day i'm running out of key largo to some spots where I marked lobster 2 weeks ago. I hope they are still there!
I didn't find many lobster in the beginning but I did shoot a hogfish and black grouper. I start to find small lobster and then finally find 1 lobster that's big enough! Time to get cooking!

This video is just a quick update to let you guys know what's going on here in Key Largo at the South Florida Fishing Channel headquarters. Just to give the video some more 'umpf' I decide to show you a little bit around where I live.
Welcome to my crib! Here in Key Largo. I probably should have added some outdoor footage where my boat is docked but I can't bear to look at my boat in it's current 'non-working' condition.
Anyways be prepared for some upcoming fishing videos, i'm working hard to make it happen! Make sure you like my videos and leave a sub if you enjoy what you see. Thanks everyone!
Spearfishing Mangrove Snapper & Cero Mackeral
This footage is from 2 weeks ago before my boat engine broke down, so don't think it's fixed just yet! The first day we drove out to the Atlantic ready to go spearfishing, but the weather just kept getting worse. The radar showed some large clouds forming so we head back home. The next day was blue sky and we were ready to spearfish!

We head out of Key Largo to 30-40 feet of water and start chumming. The past videos we've been spearfishing in 10-20 feet of water and decided it's time to go a little deeper. The only problem was the current was ripping hard so it quickly turned into an exhausting feat. Also, anytime I dove deeper than 30 feet I had a sharp pain on my tooth nerve from a filling I recently received. I guess there is a air pocket or something causing the pressure so i'll have to go back to the dentist.
We pull the anchor and start to drift back to the more shallow waters. On the drift I spot a mangrove snapper and take my shot. Nailed it! This made me happy because before the trip I had already decided I was craving mangrove snapper for dinner. And boy did we have an amazing dinner. The cooked mangrove snapper pictures are at the end of the video.
The next fish I shoot is a barracuda. I will be using it for bait on a future deep drop video. I also scale the barracuda to attract more fish to the boat and sure enough it worked. It wasn't long before a Cero Mackeral came swimming by to check out the action.
Beata isn't a big fan of Cero Mackeral, or any mackeral in that case because they are much more oily and 'fishy' tasting compared to whiter meat fish like the snapper. I gut the Cero Mackeral and rip it's gills out. This makes them taste much better when cooking them whole.
Overall this was a fun spearfishing trip and I enjoyed everything I saw. If you find anything in this video helpful and had a good time watching it please drop a like and subscribe to the channel.
I have a mechanic coming out to my boat tomorrow so say a prayer for us! I really hope we get the engine running again. Cheers!

Deep Dropping Islamorada Humps for Grouper
Beata and I run out to the Islamorada humps for some deep dropping. Our target species for this trip is grouper! This is Beatas first time deep dropping and only my second time since getting my new Daiwa tanacom 1000 electric reel. Spoiler alert, we do catch grouper!

In this video:
It was a long day of fishing and luckily we were able to put some fish in the boat. Our first deep drop we used mahi bellies for bait. We had some nibbles but eventually had all our baits stolen. Then we deep drop some squid bait and had some more nibbles but no fish.
Time to try the barracuda as bait. I cut up some barracuda chunks from my last fishing trip and we drop that down. Sure enough we catch a yellow edge grouper. We go back on the same drift over the islamorada humps and sure enough we hook into a second grouper. This one was a snowy grouper.
At this point we call it a day with deep dropping and start trolling our weedless skirted squids in hopes of catching some mahi. We did get a hit and I saw a mahi jump, but after about an hour we decided to head back in. On the way in I stopped at a spot that looked good to check for lobster and sure enough I found some. I will be coming back for these lobster when the season opens up on Aug. 6th.
When we get home from our deep dropping trip I fillet the grouper, we make some pina colada and then head to the pool to relax after spending all day on the boat. Which can be surprisingly exhausting!
Thank you for watching. I hope you enjoyed this video and if you learned something be sure to subscribe as I work hard to put out videos every week to help spread my joy and knowledge of fishing.

2017 Lobster Mini Season FAIL
I had been planning our Mini Season day for a while now here in Key Largo, Florida. I had some friends visit and everything was in place for success. We head out the day before miniseason started and scope out some lobster spots.
It didn't take long before we found several coral heads with a nice amount of lobster under them. I marked the spots in the GPS and we made our way back to our docks. Everything was looking like 2017 mini season was going to be an epic one!
As we pull into the dock the engine turns off and would not turn on again. Luckily we were able to pull the boat into the dock spot properly. I was not worried at first and did not think this would become such a fail. I thought it was probably just a small problem or it was a battery issues.
In the end, I spent the last 2 days working on the boat fixing a lot of things I thought were the issue. I have a new solenoid coming in the mail and hopefully that fixes the problem, if not I will have a mechanic come out and hopefully be able to fix it.
I hope everyone that made it out for mini season this year caught lots of lobster. I won't let this kill my 2017 lobster buzz and working hard to have the boat running for Aug. 6th when lobster season opens again.

Spearfishing Key Largo - Black Grouper & Hogfish Catch N' Cook
Another day here in the Florida Keys. It looks a bit stormy, but you can't stop us when we have spearfishing on our minds. We head out of Tavernier Creek and run out to the patch reefs between Tavernier Key and Rodriguez Key in about 13-15 feet of water.
We already had some hogfish last week so our main goal was to get a grouper. We see tons of hogfish which we mostly left alone. Except for 2. Then I come across a black grouper. Initially I thought it was a Red Grouper, but luckily this black grouper was still of legal size.
I saw some great life on the reef and even found some lobster. I can't wait for mini season which is only a couple days away! It started to rain, but there was no lightning. A common event here in Key Largo! After the rain calms down a bit I find a nice barracuda and decide to take it since I know they make great bait for deep dropping. We did a catch n cook, but it's a little short. Just a picture of the cook and I guess the catch part too lol It's a catch and cook!
Overall this was a fun spearfishing trip and everyday I love the reefs here off Key Largo more and more. I can't wait to get back out. Expect some great lobster catching videos for mini season! I already have some spots marked and can't wait to slay them!
