Each year after Thanksgiving has come and gone, the magic of Christmas swoops in and awakens the Pixies stuffed folk, and mayhem becomes the nightly norm right up until Christmas day... These are a record of some of their MANY adventures...😊 @verityhouseinspired9184

In an upcoming full video, we're transforming the Pixie's room and dressing it for Christmas as well... And boy, did we have ideas! When Alice dropped down the rabbit’s hole, I hardly think she was expecting a cup of tea to be at the end of her sudden descent….and yet there it was! Tea, it seems, can be found almost everywhere…and almost always makes any situation better. At least, that is the stance of those of us in the Little House, where tea is almost never outside a pot long enough to grow old and likewise in the cup. So, it should really come as no surprise to anyone who knows us that a party which revolves around tea….would be celebrated enthusiastically! This video is part two of the Thoroughly Modern Vintage Pixie’s Lady’s Tea Party…and if that isn’t a mouthful, I don’t know what is! An elaborate menu filled with delicious offerings, mostly from the pages of the vintage cookbooks found on our shelves, was prepared by the "Pixies Two," with a bit of help from the rest of us. The table was dressed in fine China, gold rimmed Fostoria stemware and polished silver flat ware… And despite a great deal of effort to iron, fluff, and re-iron…the damask table cloth refused to cooperate, and so there ended up being a wrinkle or a thousand in the Pixies otherwise perfectly set table! (Obviously, we did not consult the vintage Domestic Science book concerning the art of ironing) Fortunately for us, no royalty showed up to the tea party, and thus, we avoided a terrible scandal! In the end, the tea flowed freely, the food was enough for a proper army, the table was beautiful, and the guests and conversation were delightful! I know, for our part, we were greatly refreshed in spirit and body by such a lovely afternoon! Thank you for watching our videos. The summer garden leftovers haven't yet caught on to the fact that their season has finally passed, and we are now firmly into fall! We, however, are not complaining as this means the best of both worlds, with lovely peppers, tomatillos, and eggplants alongside brisk temperatures. We do know it's only a matter of time, but we are embracing the cross-over while it lasts. In the first of our Thoroughly Modern Vintage Pixie series the Pixies have discovered that I have been hiding a stash of vintage home economics and cookbooks right in plain sight, which they uncovered during our autumn cleaning and decorating event. When we sat down and began to look through them, we were intrigued by the detailed teaching on almost every subject, home, personal and food related. Very little subject matter was left to guess work! Also, intriguing was the number of questionable culinary decisions that were splashed proudly across the many pages, such as the prolific use of celery …even as a main dish! The Pixies are not fans of celery and this flagrant violation of all that was reasonable and good in the food world was simply unfathomable to them. And then there was the topic of Aspic…. food encased in a clear gelatin and served with abandon in the US for generations. The Pixies were not amused…their poor ancestors had obviously lost their minds when it came to culinary creations! These troubling subjects aside, we all agreed it would be fun to go through the vintage books, learning from them and attempting to recreate some of the contents with a modern pixilated twist and within reason. The first and only thing on the Golden Pixies list of things to do, was a ladies luncheon/tea party, which was likewise embraced by everyone else and so we set about planning an intimate Autumn Vintage-Inspired Ladies Tea Party…. Today’s video is the planning of the Pixies Vintage Tea Party and the cooking and hosting of the tea party itself is in part two of this video. If it were an option to simply cuddle a kitty baby all day long while at work and at play, the Pixies would embrace the task enthusiastically! In the Little House where the Pixies are adopting as many orphaned pumpkins as possible, the time has come to whip up fall treats and restore our pantry stock of all things’ apple. All the while adding touches of Fall to every corner of the kitchen in the little house. So, we took a little minute to get on down the road and collect cases of Virginia apples and fairytale pumpkins from Charlies U-Pik in Lucedale, Mississippi, and escort them back to our kitchen for transformation into Cinderella pumpkin muffins, and jars of spiced apple sauce and apple butter…all without a fairy godmother in sight! But just because we haven’t seen her yet doesn’t mean we are not prepared…Fairytale pumpkins now lounge about in various spaces around the house on the off chance that they could become enchanted carriages. And since the Pixies are fairly certain they heard a mouse in the attic we may also have the necessary footman and driver for any pumpkins turned whimsical carriages. (It’s not that the Pixies have exceptional hearing, but rather that the mouse sounds like he may be six feet tall and dragging a trunk behind him as he is moving in…which is likely to be a short-lived situation) With the pumpkins in their places, we went to work on transforming the fruits of Autumn into a pantry of goodies to feed us throughout the winter and coming year. Once all the hard work was finally completed and the pantry had been restocked, the Pixies hurried to set a table for tea and to enjoy the fruit of their labor …and I have it on good authority (the guileless Golden Pixie) that every single creation was enchantingly delicious! Welcome back to the channel! We are excited to see you and share our latest video with you! So, pour a cup of tea and spend a few moments with us...🍂😊 In this video, despite Southeast Louisiana not having taken the hint to act more like Autumn and less like the interior of Mordor’s Mount Doom, the Pixies are determined to embrace Fall with every tool at their disposal... And this would obviously call for a toolbox filled with glitter, perfectly selected and dried leaves, every old frame in the house (and there are more than you, as a sane person, might be imagining) and all the Autumn decorations held in storage for just this moment. It will also require a great deal of cleaning, taking down Summer and for some strange reason a spontaneous repainting of the furniture…. (just kidding, we all know exactly why there was painting involved…) There will be enough artwork hung to please an art museum curator, pillows will be created, pumpkins and fall foliage will be displayed and a light dusting of shimmering glitter will lay softly over everything…. because... that is the way glitter rolls. Our decorating style may not be for everyone, particularly minimalists…If you are one, we should warn you right now to shield your eyes. It may also defy easy classification as it is simply all the things, we love brought together to tell a visual story that feels cozy and perfect for the season and for us… But in the end, it can never be said that Autumn was not welcomed into the Little House with the greatest of fan fair, hard work, vintage Autumn soundtracks played on repeat and creatively pixilated teamwork… We hope you will come along with us as we clean and decorate the Little House for Fall! In the Little house where the Pixies and the Potager alike have been attempting to survive record breaking temperatures and next to no rain for weeks, it was agreed, that it was past time to put a stop to summers shenanigans! The Oak and Pecan trees had long tired of the scorching heat and had decided in unison to take a stand, by dropping a thick layer of leaves across the potager. The Pixies and their taller folk took this as a sign and joined the brave trees stand against "solar brutality" by making over the porch in a cozy fall theme...a simple hint to Autumn that she would be welcome at the Little House! The Sun seems to have scootched closer to see what we are all up to down here, and the leafy folk are exhausted and droopy by the Suns unrelenting interest in their affairs. Please join us as we remind Autumn that affecting summer's airs is unbecoming of such an otherwise lovely season and that she should instead bring a fresh change of color and temperature to her overheated fans.... The Kitty Baby has embraced her status of feline royalty and absorbs everyone's adoration happily! "She is the cutest thing ever!" declares the Pixies at least once an hour during waking hours... ...and she really is! @verityhouseinspired9184 The Golden Pixie knew exactly what she wanted to spend part of her birthday money on... and it came as no surprise for any of us that it wasn't herself.🥰 So off we went to find the perfect "snuggley" bed for her favorite kitty baby, Fiona. Once the treasure was acquired, she couldn't wait to get home to show the baby cat, who took to her newly gifted bed, like the royal feline the Pixie have convinced her she is! While it's a daily fight to keep the garden alive with Temps over a hundred each day and no rain for an unusually long stretch... the only thing doing really well are our spicy pepper folks! The Golden Pixie made a lovely dinner with some of the produce coming from the Pixies Potager... She was very excited to make this dish for everyone else... a point she made several times throughout our cooking. Everyone who ate her meal announced how delicious it was... and it definitely was that! Because the pixie comes from a long line of cooks who create food by feel and taste, she is learning this tradition herself...and she's pretty good at it. Luckily, this dish is one that needs no real firm measurements and can be put together to meet the preference of the chef!
