Here's an easy method for adding cheese to your sourdough bread. I call this the "folding method." It's a great way to fold cheese into your dough, but it would also work for adding in other "inclusions" like nuts or dried fruit. But, let's focus on CHEESE! Method Summary: If you properly fold in cubes of cheese during the bulk fermentation process, your bread will come out with delicious pockets of melty cheese inside! The cheese won't disintegrate into the loaf (like with shredded cheese), and because of the gentle folding process, the cubes of cheese won't get crushed or tear the gluten structure of the dough (like they would in a mixer). In this video, I'll show you two easy ways you can bake sourdough bread in a Pyrex dish (or any deep glass cooking pot with a lid). These large lidded pots made of tempered glass seem to be in a lot of people's homes. So if you don't have a cast-iron Dutch oven for baking bread, try using one of these to bake your sourdough bread! #Shorts - Here's how I feed my sourdough starter with no discard and no waste... ✅ I keep a jar of leftover sourdough starter in the fridge. The night before I want to bake, I take the jar out of the fridge and "feed" it. ✅ I feed my starter according to the recipe I'll be using. If I need 200g of starter total, I'll add 100g of water and 100g of flour to the 5g of leftover starter. Then I mix everything till it's all combined. ✅ The next morning the starter will have doubled in size! It usually takes about 8-12 hours depending on the temperature of the kitchen. ✅ Then I use the 200g of starter that I need for my recipe. After that I'll have about 5g of starter leftover in the jar. I just put the jar in the fridge and save it for the next time I'm ready to bake. Just like that, no need to throw anything away! Learn how to make an easy focaccia with LEFTOVER mashed potatoes. These are perfect for the day after Thanksgiving or any time you have leftover mashed potatoes that you don't know what to do with. This ended up being the softest and fluffiest focaccia I've ever made. I hope you like it! #nowaste #thanksgivingleftovers #leftoverschallenge ✏️ Recipe: Leftover Mashed Potatoes - 3/4 Cup Water - 1 Cup Olive Oil - 1 Tablespoon Instant Yeast - 1/2 teaspoon Salt - 1 teaspoon (or 6 grams) Bread Flour - 2 to 2.5 Cups Topping: Olive Oil - 4 to 8 Tablespoons Salt - A few sprinkles Dried Rosemary - A few shakes NOTE: No, I did not use a digital scale to weigh the ingredients in this recipe. Guess what, it still made great bread. (Gasp!) As long as you follow my measurements fairly closely and get a dough consistency that looks similar to what I have in this video, you can get a similar result. Scales are great once you have a tried-and-true recipe that you want to imitate with consistency. This, on the other hand, was a recipe idea I had when I just wanted to use up some leftover mashed potatoes. Sometimes it's fun to go scale-less and to realize that you can make great bread with just your baker's intuition!
