The Intersection Between Toxicology and Aging
The Intersection Between Toxicology and Aging Dr. John Wise, PhD
I discussed the problem with keeping people alive longer as the US Government sees it back in 2008. Today we are imminently faced with the challenges of an increasingly aging population and longer lifespans due to improved health care. Concomitantly, we are faced with ubiquitous environmental pollution linked with various health effects and age-related diseases which contribute to increased morbidity with age. Geriatric populations are rarely considered in the development of environmental regulations or in toxicology research. Today, life expectancy is often into one’s 80s or beyond, which means multiple decades living as a geriatric individual. Hence, adverse health effects and late-onset diseases might be due to environmental exposures as a geriatric, and we currently have no way of knowing. Considering aging from a different perspective, the term “gerontogen” was coined in 1987 to describe chemicals that accelerate biological aging but has largely been left out of toxicology research

Is Standing On Your Head Safe
Is Standing On Your Head Safe Dr. Christopher Marvin, BS, D.C.
Social Media is an amazing thing. As people strive to get more followers, often they display behaviors that aren't all together safe or smart. Many who promote Yoga, which is a good thing, like to display standing on one's head as a good thing for people to engage in. Looks simple enough, and many are now experimenting with it and posting their pictures. Head standing finds its origin in the teachings of the Yogi. It's called a supported head stand with two of the elbows sharing the weight of the body upon the skull and neck. The average weight of a Yogi is 50 to 62Kg. and still injuries occur. Today we investigate what can be gained from standing on one's head and what risk there are.

Highly Mystical Psychedelic Experiences Linked to Mental Health Improvements
Highly Mystical Psychedelic Experiences Linked to Mental Health Improvements Dr. Aki Nikolaidis, PhD
New study shows a more mystical and insightful psychedelic drug experience may be linked to an enduring reduction in anxiety and depression symptoms, according to a new study.
Researchers conducted a machine learning analysis of data from nearly 1,000 respondents to a survey about their previous non-clinical experiences with psychedelic drugs. The analysis suggests that individuals who scored the highest on questionnaires assessing the mystical and insightful nature of their experiences consistently reported improvements in their anxiety and depression symptoms.

Testosterone; Think You Know it All? Think Again.
Testosterone; Think You Know it All? Think Again. Anthony Roberts
When I decided to do this show I was originally thinking of physicians. Its so evident to me that most prescribing physicians who offer TRT really don't understand the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of the testosterone they prescribe and as a result are doing their patients a great disservice. Moreover their patients are treated under many misconceptions that they then repeat as facts and continue the propagation of misinformation. I promise you, you will be saying "I never knew that" many times as you listen to this episode.

The Role of the Gut Microbiome in Alzheimer's Disease
The Role of the Gut Microbiome in Alzheimer's Disease Dr. Grace Liu, PharmD
Several studies have shown that the gut plays a profound role in the onset of Parkinson's Disease. In fact, gut symptoms start as much as 10 years prior to the symptoms of Parkinson's Disease. New research shows the same to be true of Alzheimer's. Changes in the gut may be the early warning signs in Alzheimer's as well. Most people ignore changes in gut function. Physicians advise people to take prescription and OTC drugs that mask the symptoms. Are there ways to address these changes that actually address the problem? Yes there are.

Don't Get that Joint Replacement Just Yet...
Don't Get that Joint Replacement Just Yet...
Guest; Dr. Allan Dunn
Dr. Dunn has pioneered a therapy that should be the first-line treatment for anyone with joint problems that may require complete joint replacement. In well over 80% of his patients the cartilage in the joints can be regrown in as little as a few months and complete joint replacement is avoided. Why isn't this therapy being offered or even discussed with the growing number of hip and knee replacement patients? Allan Dunn, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon in private practice in North Miami, Florida. Since 1965, he has been working on a method for the treatment of degenerative cartilage diseases: the injection of human growth hormone directly into affected joint spaces. Listen and learn.

A Solution To Obesity & Fatty Liver?
A Solution To Obesity & Fatty Liver? Dr. Kristina A. Varady, PhD
It is estimated that 25% of the US population and 29% of the global population suffer from Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLd). NAFLD is a hallmark symptom of Type-2 Diabetes and obesity. Approximately 65% of obese adults have the disease, and this condition is strongly related to the development of insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes. If left unchecked, fatty liver disease can lead to more serious complications like cirrhosis or liver failure, but there are limited good drug options for treating the condition. We discuss a simple protocol that has been shown in a clinical trial to help reverse NAFLD and correct insulin sensitivity in patients. If you've been diagnosed with NAFLD tune in to take control of your life and health.

Guest, Julien Smith
They say "That which does not kill you will make you stronger" and Smith's book The Flinch teaches you how to embrace this notion and make it your ally.
This show originally aired in 2012. In light of the recent discussion goals and motivation Carl thought this would be a good show to rebroadcast. They say "That which does not kill you will make you stronger" and Smith's book The Flinch teaches you how to embrace this notion and make it your ally. This book can transform your life if you apply it.
This is a book about being a champion, and what it takes to get there. It’s about
decisions, and how to know when you’re making the right ones. It’s also about you: the
current, present you; the potential, future you; and the one, single difference between
them. It’s about an instinct—the flinch—and why mastering it is vital.
This book is about how to stop flinching. It’s about facing pain

It's All In Your Gut
It's All In Your Gut Dr. Grace Liu, PharmD
Hippocrates coined the term hypochondriac, which meant below the rib cage, or more specifically, the gut, as individuals who had illnesses that could not be pinpointed other than it was coming from this region of the body. He was very smart. Fast forward to modern times, we now are learning that more and more diseases begin in the gut. I would even offer that the hallmarks of aging actually start in your gut. Today we’re going to do a deep dive and offer you what is equivalent to a master class to actually determine what is going on in your gut how it’s affecting you physically and how to fix it
