Fall Garden Plants Still Alive In February - Planted in August
All of these plants were planted in August of last year. They are still alive 6 months later in February. We have really enjoyed being able to go out in the garden and get something to eat all through the fall and winter. On this day, I harvested 3 different things in February.

How I Cross Pollinate Pepper Plants To Make A New Variety Of Pepper
In this video I'll show you exactly how I cross pollinate two peppers to make a new type of pepper. The basic process involves emasculating a pepper flower on the plant you want to produce the cross. Then you take a flower from a different pepper, and transfer the pollen from that flower onto the stigma of the emasculated flower. In this video I will explain and show each step.

February Gardening Update For Our Indoor Pepper Projects
We have lots of pepper projects growing indoors. We have some hybrids created by manual crosses, and a couple of hybrids that were created by bees. We even have a couple of mutant pepper plants growing. As I harvest ripe peppers and save seeds, I am continually planting new seedlings to replace the older plants.

How I Save Pea Seeds To Plant Next Year
Once you start saving your own seeds, you might be surprised by how much money you can save. I planted different varieties to find out which types worked well in our area. Once I found which ones I liked, I wanted to save seeds from them. In this video, I will show you how I do it. It's pretty easy to do, so this video is more for beginning gardeners than experienced gardeners.

Indoor Pepper Plants Growing and Taking A Break
I have quite a few peppers growing indoors right now. I've been making some crosses and I'm growing some of the F1s from those crosses right now.
I also wanted to let folks know that I'm taking a short break from making videos. I've been making videos at a pretty steady pace for about 8 or 9 years, so I thought it was time to take a little break. I hope you understand. Thanks for watching!

Does Cutting Banana Leaves From A Plant Harm It? Let's Take A Look See.
Even though we are in zone 6b, we grow banana plants. Our Musa basjoo banana grows to about 12 to 13 feet tall every summer, even though we cut it down every fall. Bananas grow pretty fast, and for that reason, they have lots of leaves. After a bad wind storm, some of those leaves can be shredded by the wind. In this video, I'll show you what our banana looked like before I trimmed a whole bunch of leaves off of it. Then I'll show you what is looked like after I trimmed it. Finally, I'll show you what it looked like by the end of the summer.

We had a true test this week, when the temperatures were in the 30s and 40s F. during the day, and 20s and upper teens at night. Let us know if you still have anything growing. Thanks for watching!

What A Mutant Pepper Plant Looks Like
Mutations are a normal part of nature. Sometimes they happen in animals, and sometimes they happen in plants. This time it happened to a pepper plant. The original mutation happened about a dozen years ago or so. I plan to cross these peppers with some of my own pepper plants.

Feeding Butterflies By Hand At The Butterfly Palace - Branson MO
This was the very first time in my life that I had butterflies eating out of my hand....literally. On a recent trip to Branson, Missouri, we visited the Butterfly Palace. The 4 of us really did enjoy our time there. If you love butterflies or enjoy nature, you probably would enjoy the Butterfly Palace too. The coolest part about the Butterfly Palace for us, was the artificially flowers that had nectar in them. Many times there were multiple butterflies trying to eat from the flowers at the same time. There were many different species of butterflies to see, and they were all exotic species that we had never seen before. Thanks for watching.
