DIY Battery Tool Box Build - Travel Trailer Project
Building the aluminum battery / tool box for the front of the Travel Trailer. This was my first time welding aluminum with a spool gun and bending/forming sheet metal of this thickness. So there was quite a bit of trial and error learning, but overall I'm really happy with the result!
The primary purpose of the box will be to house my 12v batteries, 12v wiring and some other tools at the front of the Travel Trailer. But I'm sure I might find some other uses as well :D
Please let me know if you have any questions :)
Joe
Big thanks to Industrial Metal Supply and Forney Industries for partnering with me on this project! Forney Industries supplied the spool gun to use for welding the aluminum. And Industrial Metal Supply supplied the aluminum diamond plate.

Rain Roof - Rainwater Harvesting Project - How To
Building a Rain Roof as another option to harvest rainwater for home, garden or livestock use. Specifically this is set up for my rainwater garden area but could be used for just about anything.
This project started out originally as a roofing test prop I made to conduct a desert roofing test. Once that was done, the goal was to make the existing framework into a rainwater collection project. I show the conversion of the test prop into the current roofing configuration, how it works, a little about the rainwater garden area and then I try to answer some questions about the project.
Please let me know if you have any questions :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9vkNagKOas
NOTE regarding changes in the rainwater garden fruit trees. If the trees in the middle section look different than the original project video, that is because those were lost due to a javelina event. Haha... yes, sounds weird. But the quick story is that during one of our dry spells we had a pack of javelina root up and eat many of the moist roots of those trees. Consequently, we ended up loosing 3 trees (apricot, peach, fig) Currently, although not during the video (because it's ugly...lol), I have a wire fence ring around them to protect from the same type of event.

Rainwater Harvesting with IBC Tote and Tarp - Wildlife Waterer
DIY rainwater harvesting wildlife waterer using an IBC tote, billboard tarp and an automatic watering dish. This definitely isn't fancy, but it is a good budget option for someone looking to harvest rainwater for animals, livestock or a small garden plot.
NOTE: I was really hoping to have some rainwater footage for this one but just didn't have rains that I could capture when I was filming this. BUT if you check out my 'rainwater tarp project' you can see rain footage and a better description of how it works. Here are some links to those videos.

DIY Picture Frames with Vinegar & Steel Wool Finish
Today I’m making some easy DIY picture frames for my wife. I used splines on the corners and finished them with a steel wool and vinegar solution to ‘age’ the wood a bit and give it that rustic look. I also go over some upcoming projects, the travel trailer build and some other random things too ☺

Note about the tape: The VHB tape I used for this project was CV62f and CV45F. It is very expensive, upwards of $100 per roll at most places I found. I ended up purchasing it from SRI-Supplies.com for about $50/per roll.. which was the best price I found anywhere. I paid full price and did not get a discount but just wanted to mention it in case anyone is looking for it and haven't found a good affordable source for it :)

Welding Table Upgrades - Plasma cutting, slide outs, drawers...
My DIY welding table / workbench got some upgrades! I'll go over the clamping grid/holes, slide outs, plasma cutting insert, Ikea tool cabinet mod, as well as the general dimensions of the main components to the welding table. Hopefully this will answer some of the many questions i'm often asked about the table! But if not... please let me know if you have any more :)

Sharpening Steel with a Forge and Anvil
Learning how to sharpen steel picks with a forge, anvil and some old time blacksmithing wisdom. Today my wife's grandfather, Papa Lynn, shows me the ins and outs of this old time method of sharpening and tempering heavy steel hand tools like picks, digger bars, etc,.
For those that don't know, my wife's family originally homesteaded in this area over 100 years ago and still remain. They lived off the land, mined, farmed, ran cattle and a host of other things to make ends meet over the years. They are a wonderful family and have a rich history in the area. I'm very blessed to have married into this wonderful bunch of folks!

Self Extinguishing Christmas Tree ..... Maybe
Just tinkering around the shipping container shop to see if I could make a self extinguishing Christmas tree with various parts and pieces of things that I had on hand (except for the extinguishers that is;). If I redo this project I will likely try to go for a bit more of a polished result, with extra failsafes and a better method of even retardant dispersion. Another version to come... hmmmm, I'll have to see....

Making BIG stairs for the TINY Shipping Container Playhouse
Making stairs for the shipping container playhouse aka Tiny House. I used almost all scrap steel for this build and it's probably way over built... but it's what I had on hand. The steel scraps were pieces that I had left over from my concrete patio table build and I was able to weld them pretty much as I had cut them for that project...lol... worked out sooo perfectly !
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for watching! Joe

Axes, Wood & Fire - and family time!
Cooler weather means more fire pit time. And that means family time!
My DIY Steel/Stone fire pit, pallet wood axe handle and my mesquite axe handle are all past projects of mine. But being a daddy and a husband is the life long project that I'm most proud of :D
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for watching! Joe

Is it a Tiny House? - Shipping Container Playhouse - Part 2
Shipping container playhouse build is coming along and I think it's looking pretty nice from the outside. Is it showing some tiny house inspiration.... yes, with intention of course ;) More playhouse "fun" type things will be added for sure, but I really wanted to start with a base that may serve other functions over the years. But for now it's going to hopefully be a place for my daughters imagination to grow and adventures to take place :)
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Shipping Container PlayHouse - Part 1
Making a 'tiny house' style playhouse out of a shipping container for my daughter. This was the scrap section that was left over after the Shipping Container Shop build and the mini container conversion. It's about half way done at this point... so hopefully the next video on it you'll be seeing a super cute playhouse!
Please let me know if you have any questions.... Joe

Sunken Greenhouse - Winter Prep
Getting the Sunken Greenhouse ready for the winter growing season. I've made some changes to the growing area and added a window for more ventilation.... as well as some other changes that I will be making as well.
For more info on this project, check out my build series on how I made this greenhouse/walipini. Please let me know if you have any questions:)

Laminated Workbench Top - How To Make (shipping container shop)
Making a laminated workbench top for the shipping container shop with standard lumber and basic tools! This is only half of the workbench project but I think it is a good "how to" of rather unconventional methods to make a laminated or butcherblock style work surface or table top. No special woodworking tools needed. No jointer, no biscuits, no planer, no pipe clamps... no problem ;)
... but I guess a table saw is sorta special...but it doesn't have to be a fancy one.. mine was $100 on craigslist!!
I had limited time to do this, so the rest of the workbench will be coming in a few weeks. Let me know if you have any questions:)
