Cutting the Container - Container shop project 1
Today I’m cutting the 40’ shipping / cargo container into two 20’ pieces and moving them to my house. One half will be converted into the shipping container shop (aka tiny house/man cave shop;). And the other half I’m going to convert into a mini 10ft container to sell to my friend Kirk to help recoup some of the costs of this project.
Overall the process was pretty straight forward, just so long as the container is supported well and is on a good base. The cutting was done mostly on my own with some help from my neighbor Al, who sold me the container. But the moving took a lot more resources than I had. Luckily I had some help… actually a lot of help, from my father in law, Les who came with his father and my brother in law and nephew. Thanks guys!
Anyways, thanks for watching the project, and please let me know if you have any questions! Hopefully this project will go much quicker than the Sunken Greenhouse project☺
If you guys like the videos I make and would like to help support the channel at no additional cost to you. Please consider doing some of you Amazon shopping through this link. I may receive a small commission for any items you purchase. It’s greatly appreciated!

Shipping Container Shop Project - Intro
Here is a model of my next big project, a shop made out of a shipping container. This will be several part series starting off with the cutting of a 40 ft container in half and converting one section into a 20 ft container. After the cutting the container in half I will then build new end doors, cut out windows and a man door, then I'll add a roof and awning to work under. The final stages will add in interior shelves a work bench and a clean work space at one end.
I'm hoping this will be an awesome work space that will give me a great space for projects as well as satisfy a desire to build a tiny house;) So in the process of becoming a shop area this is probably going to be a sort of man cave for me as well:)
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Industrial Stool Build - How to
How to build an industrial rustic stool. My wife wanted a industrial piano style stool for our computer area and here's how I built it. The top is laminated pine scraps and the base is made with steel pipe, threaded rod and some steel plate. The welds aren't perfect as I'm still learning this craft, but overall I'm happy with the way it came out and hopefully it might give you some inspiration for a similar project of your own:) Let me know if you have any questions!

Poor Man's Winch - Using ratchet straps for winch duties
A poor mans winch is a concept of using a come along or ratchet strap to get the capabilities of a winch in a more portable and affordable package.
Today I’m going to show you a couple of options that I like and think are useful to have around for a variety of different purposes. The ratchet strap I like is a “quickloader” brand that has a some really nice features that most straps don’t have and the come-a-long is a standard one from Harbor Freight that I picked up several years ago and has served me well ever since. I hope this was helpful and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for watching☺

Sunken Greenhouse 7 - Rainwater Harvesting, cooling tunnel
Here is Part 7 of the sunken greenhouse project, where I talk about the rainwater harvesting system, cooling tunnel progress and the gravity powered watering system that I’ve installed since the last update. And yes, we’ve got real plants growing in it now! I’ll update you on the progress and also talk about what I still have planned for it. But for now it’s pretty much fully functional and hopefully will be getting a lot of use in the future!
Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions. I plan to answer all of the greenhouse questions in a future QA video:)

DIY Firefighting Trailer - CO2 Powered!
In this video I'm building a CO2 powered brushfire/wildland firefighting trailer from a Northern Tool Ironton utility trailer kit. In my last video I assembled the Ironton trailer kit and said I had special plans for it! After a bit of welding, painting and playing around with air and plumbing fittings, this is what I've come up with! It's a small enough rig so that it can be pulled with my quad... or even a car. This has been built with an old hot water heater, a CO2 tank, pressure regulator and some steel.... as well as a variety of other things...lol
... oh yes, and some 'dramatic' live fire footage at the end! ;)
Anyways, hope you enjoy! ... and please subscribe for more projects :)

Snake Pole Build - How to (SNAKE footage)
Here is how I built a snake pole to deal with rattlesnakes that I encounter from time to time on my property. It’s made out of a $3 chunk of aluminum plate, 5’ of ½” electrical conduit, some scrap Ipe wood, a $1 spring and various nuts/bolts/screws/etc.
And if you’re wondering why I would build a pole like this instead of using a shovel to dispatch a rattlesnake, there are a couple reasons. First, it’s not always practical/necessary to dispatch or harm a snake as they do serve a vital role in rodent control. Additionally, sometimes rattlesnakes get into areas where removal is necessary before any other actions can be taken (i.e. garage, house, etc ).
Please note: None of these rattlesnakes were harmed during this video. They were snakes that had been removed from homes or yards in urban areas and were set for relocation to a desert habitat. I simply aided in their relocation and in return they got to star in the video;)
Here's where I got my snake guardz from:)

Beer Holder with welded sheet metal
Here's how I made a really quick and rough beer carrier out of sheet metal for my father in law, Les. He recently helped me finish some welding on a tiny travel trailer project and I figured this might be a good and unique gift to give him in return for his help.
I'm not a welder and am very much a novice so this is really rough but it was a fun and quick project and at the very least will help to build up a new skill. I hope this maybe gives you some ideas for things you can make with what you might have lying around:) thanks for watching!

Pallet wood axe handle TEST CHOP
Chopping down a tree with my homemade pallet wood axe handle. Ever since I made this axe handle out of pallet wood, lots of folks have questioned if it could actually chop down a tree… well, here goes! It wasn’t the largest tree… actually pretty small, but it was at least a bit of a test to show that the laminated pallet wood actually can hold up to a small test☺
NOTE: One change I made with this handle before I chopped the tree was to replace the original pallet wood wedge with an aluminum wedge. The other wedge had loosened up a bit and I figured it was worth the effort to ensure a successful test.
Here is a link to the original build video if you’d like to check it out

Rainwater Harvesting with a TARP
My latest rainwater harvesting project using a billboard tarp to collect and divert water into an IBC tote for later use. Whether you're wanting to collect more for your garden or maybe have a tiny house and don't have the roof space, I think this provides a good solution for a cheap and inexpensive way to collect some extra rainwater.
This could also be done with barrels, stock tanks or a simple lined hole in the ground. I hope this gives you some ideas that might be helpful for your own rainwater harvesting or homesteading activities.

Flashlights for the Homestead - Fenix TK35 & E15
A good flashlight is as important of a tool as a multitool or a role of duct tape and I use them every day. Here are my two favorite lights that I use for a variety of daily tasks around my home and when I'm away from home. The first is a Fenix E15 that is my daily pocket light that I literally take everywhere I go and the second is my more powerful Fenix TK35 UE that serves as my 'do everything' light for utility tasks or as a defensive tool to blind and disorient predators of the 4... and 2 legged kind;)
Here's is where I got my TK35 UE...
