BABY GOAT birthing..... Belle had FOUR Mini-Nubian baby goats!! (NOT a How To)
Well its a new year and we've been blessed with 4 new baby goats! Belle, our Mini-Nubian momma goat went into labor on New Years eve and after about an hour of birthing, she had 2 girls and 2 boys. All were healthy, but one is a bit of a runt and was a little delayed in his ability to nurse. But so far so good and he's doing well now. Names are as follows:
Fredlind (boy) - Brown w/ White blaze on belly and head (largest of group)
Nert (boy) - brown and the smallest of the group
Fawn (girl) - tan with white ears
Ember (girl) - moonspots (like her daddy Wyldfire)
Hope you enjoy the video and if you live in the southern Arizona area and are interested in a mini-nubian goat.... send a message :)

Whole House Water Filter Install for my Rainwater Harvesting System
Today I'm installing a whole house water filter for my Rainwater Harvesting System. In the video I'll go over the components of the 5 stage water filtration system, install the system in my pump house, test the system and then touch on details that I didn't cover during the installation.
And if I didn't cover anything you might be wondering, please let me know in the comments :)
Joe
DISCOUNT code is "Homestead5"
Thanks to US Water Systems for partnering with me on this project! Here are the details about the water filtration system installed in the video.
https://www.uswatersystems.com/us-water-systems-pulsar-max-plus-ultraviolet-disinfection-system-up-to-20-gpm.html
Disclosure: I may receive commissions from US Water for associated sales
US WATER SYSTEMS PULSAR MAX PLUS ULTRAVIOLET DISINFECTION SYSTEM - 20 GPM
The Pulsar Ultraviolet Max System combines four (4) technologies to deliver exceptional purity and peace of mind:
Step-Down Micron Filtration;
Granular Activated Carbon Filtration and Absorption;
Charged Zeta Filtration; and
Ultraviolet Disinfection or UV.
5-Stages of Protection
Stage 1: 5 Micron Magna Pre-Filter The first stage traps all particles above 5 microns, which is typically 70-80% of the solids, silt, sand and sediment.
Stage 2: Radial Flow Carbon Filter - The second stage consists of a coconut shell granular activated carbon which removes, chemical, taste, odors and chlorine.
Stage 3: 1 Micron Magna Pre-Filter Next, the second stage steps-down to 1 micron which is the size of Giardia and Cryptosporidium Cysts. At this juncture, nearly 100% of the solids have been removed.
Stage 4: Interceptor Sub-Micron Filter Now, its time to go through the Disrupter media with a Zeta potential of 51 millivolts. Many contaminants are actually "magnetically" removed from the water supply and "secured" in the Charged Filter. It stops things like bacteria, lead, tannin and Chromium 6.
Stage 5: Pulsar Ultraviolet Disinfection Chamber The Pulsar UV is the most advanced ultraviolet system on the market today. It assures 100% destruction of bacteria, parasites, virus and cysts when preceded by the Interceptor cartridge. Solid-state computerized system tells you exactly when to perform maintenance.

Whole house #waterfilter for my #rainwaterharvesting system
While I truly enjoy DIY’ing most all of my projects….. sometimes factory made is just a tiny bit more well engineered than my homemade creations🤪
And with that, I’m taking my home rainwater harvesting system to a whole new level with a 5 stage whole house water filter from @uswatersystems .
Full video of the installation should be up on the channel later today😊👍

DIY Mechanics CREEPER - No Welding - How To Make
Todays project is a DIY mechanics creeper for working under vehicles and in low spaces. No welding is required as the wheel brackets are made from a single piece of steel tubing that was cut out using only an angle grinder. In the video I'll show you how I cut and fabricated the wheel assembly, laying platform and even a little bit of crude upholstery ;)
Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions you might have!

Marleys Wild Mustang Project Pt 2 - Mustang Heritage Youth TIP Challenge
This is PART 2 of Marleys Wild Mustang Project, where she has gentled and trained a wild mustang yearling and competing in a Youth In-Hand TIP Challenge (Sept 23').
This a youth TIP program run by the Mustang Heritage Foundation and the Bureau of Land Management to encourage the adoption of mustangs that otherwise would be confined in BLM holding corrals. In the video we will go over some of the techniques she is using to train her mustang, some upgrades to the shelter, and plans for the next phases of the gentling process and TIP challenge preparation.
As always, let me know if you have any questions and thanks for watching!

Door with Hidden Latch - Rainwater Pump House Project ( Part 2)
Today I'm building a door for the pump house that has a hidden handle / secret latch. I guess it's a little throwback to the days of the 'speakeasy' and the innovative things they did to create secret meeting areas.
In the video I'll show how I made a doorway threshold, constructed the door and how I made the hidden latch mechanism.
Thanks for watching and please let me know if you have any questions!

Teach Them Everyday - Changing Tires on the Horse Trailer Project
Today I've got a simple little video about changing tires on the Horse Trailer Project and letting Marley learn some skills in the process.
But It's a bit more than just that..... It's really about the act, and purposeful effort, of getting kids involved in the things we do. Things that will build not only their skills and knowledge, but also foster their learning by seeing the process of how something is done and works.
And while I don't expect her to remember how to do even a fraction of the things she learned during 'changing tires'. I do believe that her seeing the process of a tire being changed, how one task enables another, etc,..... will help to build her critical thinking and problem solving abilities later in life. Whether it be in a vocational aspect, such as this.... or in something like starting a business.
A business won't be successful without a sound budget, just the same as a tire not holding air without a good valve stem ;)
Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions you might have!

The DIY Travel Trailer Project FINALLY gets an Awning - Part 23
The DIY Travel Trailer Project is BACK for the last 'major' addition of this years-long build! In this video I'll show you how I welded, riveted and assembled a homemade aluminum awning.... actually two.... for the DIY Travel Trailer. And while ultimately it didn't end up quite how I had originally planned, it still should serve us well for years of camping trips in the future!
So in summary..... 'It's not perfect, but it's good enough for rural work' - Dick Proenneke (rough quote)
Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions you might have!

How to Make an ATV Drag / Harrow for Farm & Ranch (Gannon box, Scraper, Arena drag)
Today I'm making an ATV drag harrow dirt-scraper sorta thing. For the purpose of maintaining our walking trail, firebreak, wildfire defensible space around our home.... as well as raking and smoothing out our horse round pen (and potential future arena;)
But somehow during this process I came out with two distinct designs. One is a bit niftier and the other is a bit more crude. So check out the video and perhaps one of these contraptions will give you some inspiration for your own project!
Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions you might have!

Marleys Wild Mustang Project Pt 1 - Mustang Heritage Youth TIP Challenge
Today is the first part of Marleys Wild Mustang Project, where she will be gentling a yearling wild mustang and competing in a Youth In-Hand TIP Challenge (Sept 23').
- Joe
NOTE: Here are a couple links to the Mustang Heritage TIP Program and BLM Wild Horse and Burro program. They offer a lot of great information on the history and conservation of the wild mustang and there protection.

Building a Simple Pole Barn Shelter - How To for Livestock, Hay or Whatever
Today we are building a new pole barn style livestock shelter for a 'wild' and big new project! In the video I'll show how I set string lines, auger holes, concrete posts, assemble the upper C-purlin framing and sheet the structure with re-purposed roofing! ..... and at the end I'll talk about what kind of critter is going to be sheltering in this structure!
Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions you might have!

How to Straighten Bent Steel - The Redneck Engineering Method
Today I'm showing a crude method of straightening bent steel. I will also talk about a safer, more precise method as well. But in the video I'll show how using a readily available things to make some decently bent steel into a relatively straight, usable piece of steel.
Hopefully this might give you some ideas that might help you on a similar project. As always, I hope you enjoy and let me know if you have any questions!
