Introducing our newest goat.... Wyldfire! He's a 4 year old mini nubian buck with a beautiful moon spot pattern. And in just a few months we will be breeding him with our momma goat, Belle and our younger girl, Meadow. So with some luck we will have some cute little moonspotted baby goat kids in the near future! Today I'm showing a crude method of straightening bent steel. I will also talk about a safer, more precise method as well. But in the video I'll show how using a readily available things to make some decently bent steel into a relatively straight, usable piece of steel. Today I'm making a Goat Milking Stand and milking stool for our Mini-Nubian dairy goat, Belle. With winter upon us, the process of gathering and processing firewood is top of mind. So today I'm going over what I carry as a part of my 'firewood kit'. Today I'm making a wet-formed leather belt sheath for my daughter. It is sized to carry a Swiss Army Knife, Ferro Rod, and fire tinder tabs. In the video I'll go over wet forming the leather (6-7oz) using a mold, trimming and sizing the pieces, edge grooving, dyeing, stitching, burnishing, adding snaps, belt loop hardware, edge coating and finishing the leather. And there is a bonus little survival adventure at the end of the video from our most recent camping trip. Which actually served as a lot of the motivation for wanting to make this sheath for her. Today I'm working on adding a door to the hay barn. In the video I'll show how I created 'home built' barn door hardware, added a lock that can be operated from either side, and used some random scrap materials to make a barn door guide to keep the door plum and secure. Today I'm showing How to Build a slide action dog feeder. It's not quite automatic, but does hold about a bag of dog food and even has a level indicator that'll show what level the dog food is at! After the move to it's new location and the re-purposing to a hay barn for the goats, the rain roof is finally getting back to its roots.... Rainwater Harvesting! In the video I'll show you how I set up the PVC downspouts, created a DIY first flush system, incorporated an IBC tote for storage, added a water trough and float valve for the goats to have fresh water. And of course.... I'll show a bit of good ol' footage of the goats playing and having a good time! Today the Rain Roof gets REPURPOSED as a new multipurpose structure. It will serve as a hay barn, rain roof, shade structure, goat milking parlor and/or possibly a birthing area or buck enclosure. Who knows!? In the video I'll use some more 'redneck engineering' to hoist the old rain roof up onto some posts, frame new walls and enclose it with metal roofing and trim. Today I'm moving my Rain Roof Project, in ONE piece, over to the Goat yard to serve as a new multipurpose structure. It will provide shade for the goats, dry hay storage and yes of course... rainwater harvesting for a future IBC tote watering system for the goats. Modifications include ventilation, roof insulation, addition of thermal mass, notching the roof support, vapor escape for heavy gases (propane) that tend to pool. Making a DIY First Aid Station for my tiny shipping container shop. Today is Part 2 of the Goat Project, where I'll be building a goat pen. In the video I'll show how I mark out the fence lines, auger the post holes, assemble the fence using scrap steel and adding the utility panels.
