Run Faster with Fartlek and Tire Flips | EP: 3 of "RUN FASTER!"
Two weeks into my 6-weeks of training to get my 1-mile run time down to 5:00 or better. Today's workout calls for a 40 minute Fartlek run and a "leg burnout" circuit (two versions will be included in the program, I opted for the tire flips version).I did my best to go into detail about how Fartlek runs work, and what sort of benefit they provide to your running regime. I also go into detail on proper tire flipping form, and how the other exercises should be conducted. The circuit is done immediately after the run as part of the optional (but highly recommended) strength training that goes along with the running program. 1-Mile Run for Time | Training For a 5-Minute Mile!
One mile timed run today! Flat track (country asphalt road) with the wife trailing behind to hold me accountable. Currently sitting at about 190lbs after a couple months of focusing on strength. This was the first day of a 6-week running training program aimed to achieve a faster 1-mile run. In my case, I'm shooting for a 5-minute mile! This was a good gut check to kick things off!
