Graphs of Christianity’s decline in America (and why it WON’T stop)
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Pew Research released an article in September 2022 called “Modeling the future of religion in America.” It discusses how Christianity is declining and will continue to decline for the next 50 years. In 2070, Christians will be a minority in the US. Is Christianity dying? Will Chistianity make a comeback? When will the non-religious outnumber Christians? I discuss all of that here by looking at the graphs from the study.

The most OP argument for (defending) God
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Bishop Robert Barron, William Lane Craig, and Ben Shapiro have all used the same argument in defense of their god’s moral nature, but the argument is versatile enough to defend any characteristic of god. If the Teleological argument (argument from design) is the best argument for god, this is the best argument *in defense* of god. It may be overpowered, but does it have a weakness?

Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Ben Shapiro released a video for his Debunked series on Dailywire+ called “The Atheist Delusion.” His ultimate point was that atheism leads to “the worst predations imaginable,” but he never actually supported that claim. Instead, he argued that atheists have no access to objective, transcendent truth, morality, or choice, inserting disparaging comments along the way. He also discussed Aquinas’ Five Ways, the Big Bang, the argument from fine-tuning, Stephen Meyer’s case for intelligent design, and the argument from consciousness. Here I discuss each of his claims

Jordan Peterson’s weird authoritarian rant
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. In a strange twist, Jordan Peterson recently argued for church attendance in a rather authoritarian way. In his recent video titled “Article: Message to the Christian Churches,” he said those who refuse to join the church out of ideological disagreement are narcissistic and cynical. “Who cares what you believe?” he asks skeptics. Since his days opposing the Canadian Bill C-16, Peterson has spoken against “leftist authoritarianism,” but now, in defense of traditionalism, he’s using authoritarian rhetoric himself.

The Heretic Who Made Christianity’s First Bible
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. In Christianity’s first bible, God is evil, Jesus is not the messiah, and there are only 12 books. Marcion of Sinope, one of the most notorious heretics, created the first biblical canon in the 140s CE, hundreds of years before the New Testament was canonized. This is the story of the heretic who invented the bible.
Themes here include orthodoxy vs heresy, the canonization of the new testament, Jesus’ parables, the teachings of the apostle Paul, gnosticism, and the work of heresiologists like Tertullian and Irenaeus.

Why I love Jesus but WON’T follow him
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Jesus’ teachings weren’t all good. Some I admire, but others make little sense when viewed outside the context of his actual character as a Jewish apocalyptic prophet. Jesus allowed slavery and advocated for retributive justice as a result of his apocalyptic view, for instance.
Here I talk apocalypticism, evil, social justice, teaching morality through story, guarding moral stories as a matter of identity, and why I'm not a Christian. My perspective on what it means to be a Christian is influenced by my experience as an ex-Evangelical, but hopefully this deconstruction of Jesus’ moral teachings is of some value to those with different experiences.

As I travel through Jerusalem, Israel, I discuss the history of hell in Christian tradition. I cover the philosophy of Plato, specifically Platonic dualism, the Jewish afterlife in the Old Testament, Second Temple Jewish apocalypticism, the hellenistic reinterpretation of Jesus’ teachings, and more. When other ex-Christians and ex-Evangelicals ask how to stop being afraid of hell, I always recommend learning about the origins of hell in Christianity. Now I’ll just share this video instead.

“Do atheists exist?” This Christian’s insulting answer
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Christian apologist Frank Turek never fails to use overly-literal interpretations of the bible to paint non-Christians as psychologically broken and morally bankrupt.
Here I respond to a recent video from Frank Turek’s Cross Examined channel. Drawing from Romans 1, he explains his understanding of the psychology of atheism. It’s… rather insulting. From the unfalsifiable nature of his claims, to his apparent outgroup bias, to the fundamentalist-like literalism of his interpretation of the bible, issues abound in his video. This video isn’t meant to proselytize for atheism, but rather to call for complexity and empathy in interfaith dialogue.

What was it like to leave Evangelical Christianity as a married couple?
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. My wife Taylor and I were raised as Evangelical Christians, but deconstructed our faith and left Christianity some time after getting married. How do you talk to your spouse about doubting the faith? What does it mean to be “unequally yoked?” Can a Christian stay married to an atheist? What if your spouse doesn’t believe in God? Here we tell our story in hopes of helping others work through these questions in their own journeys out of faith.
We went from Evangelical Christian to atheist / agnostic, but we hope this can be helpful to those of diverse beliefs. A massive thank you to my incredible wife Taylor for helping make this happen.

3 Things You Shouldn’t Say to Someone Deconstructing Their Faith
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Deconstructing faith is complex. Some popular claims about the deconstruction movement (as well as the process itself) oversimplify it. Why do people deconstruct their faith? What is deconstruction like for those who do? Here I address 3 things believers say about faith deconstruction, hoping to provide clarity on the issue. My experiences don’t represent everyone’s, but they can still provide some perspective to those who do believe.
From a former Christian’s perspective, I take on the following statements:
“it’s just cool or popular to deconstruct your faith now and that’s why people do it”
“Deconstruction is all about your feelings, not truth”
“Deconstructing some things is good, but deconstructing other things is not. Go ahead and deconstruct, as long as you stay in the faith”

The Female Apostle that Christianity (Purposely) Forgot | Acts of Paul and Thecla
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. An ancient controversy surrounded a Christian apocryphal book called Acts of Paul and Thecla. While St. Thecla was revered a great deal in the past, she’s become less recognizable among Christians over time. Many know the Apostle Paul and his companions mentioned in the Pastoral Epistles well, and the popularity of those books may have something to do with why Thecla is relatively unknown today. Studying the interaction of these texts reveals a struggle for orthodoxy that many never knew took place.
What does Acts of Paul and Thecla say? Are the Pastoral Epistles a forgery? Was Acts of Paul ever considered New Testament canon? This video attempts to answer these questions and more.

How Young Living Created a Religion to Sell Essential Oils
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. The essential oils cult I almost joined years ago, the multilevel marketing company (MLM) called Young Living Essential Oils, is dying. A new book called My Word Made Flesh, with close ties to its CEO Mary Young, is being called satanic, demonic, and occult by many of Young Living’s Christian distributors. This company has been marketing their products by integrating essential oils into Christian theology and New Thought ideology for years, but they’ve finally pushed this far enough to trigger a backlash. What Gary Young and David Stewart started with Healing Oils of the Bible, God’s Love Manifest in Molecules, and Raindrop technique, Mary Young and Marcella Vonn Harting have taken to its logical next step.
Check out The Antibot’s video “Young Living Accused of Being a Satanic Cult”
https://youtu.be/5nYrjQQg6Gg
***Clarification here. Young Living did not *technically* release or distribute My Word Made Flesh. As with David Stewart's books, this book was written by *technically* independent persons, then distributed to many of their reps through high-ranking *technically* independent YL reps. YL CEO Mary Young wrote the book’s forward, and there’s a QR code in the book which takes you to a site where you can join Young Living. So did YL have a hand in creating and distributing this book? You decide.

How Netflix's Midnight Mass Gets Christian Radicalization EXACTLY Right
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Midnight Mass on Netflix depicts the corruption of a small town’s faith, from lukewarm Catholicism to fanaticism. With the exception of its use of *literal* plagues and monsters, this series represents Christian radicalization frighteningly well. Writer and director Mike Flanagan’s commentary on the utility of religious faith echoes what many former believers, like myself, have learned in our experiences with religious radicalization.
Vi La Bianca and I review this series from that perspective. From Riley’s atheism, to Monsignor Pruitt’s corruption of faith, to Bev Keane’s dogmatism, this show plays like an episode from our pasts as former Christian fundamentalists.

I took a Christian class about atheism. It was worse than I expected.
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Stand to Reason University, a Christian apologetics organization, just released the course “Atheism: Bumping Into Reality,” and I decided to take it. The class instructor, Greg Koukl, taught several misconceptions about atheists like “Atheists believe everything came from nothing,” “atheists can’t explain morality,” and “atheism leads to hopelessness and despair.” He also argued for God’s existence using the Kalam cosmological argument, an argument from morality, and an argument involving the soul.
Commiserate with me as I take on STRU’s claims!

5 Misconceptions Bible Skeptics Spread About The New Testament (feat. Dr. Bart Ehrman)
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Here Dr. Bart Ehrman joins me to discuss common misconceptions about the New Testament and early Christianity. The misconceptions are:
“The First Council of Nicaea canonized the New Testament”
“The valley of Gehenna was a place where Jerusalem burned its trash, which is how it got its fiery image”
The Nag Hammadi library was buried out of fear of violent persecution from the proto-orthodox, as evidenced by Athanasius of Alexandria laying out a list of orthodox books very similar to contemporary New Testament canons”
“The “Gnostics” were a specific sect of Christians which had their own congregations far apart from other Christians”
“The narrative of Jesus’ virgin birth, the celebration of his birth on December 25th, his 12 followers, dying for world peace, etc. was lifted from the Roman religion of Mithraism”

4 Misconceptions Christians Spread About The New Testament (feat. Dr. Bart Ehrman)
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Dr. Bart Ehrman joins me here to discuss extremely common misconceptions about the New Testament and early Christianity. The misconceptions are:
“The gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, were written by eyewitnesses, possibly the apostles themselves.”
“Christianity was relatively unified in the first few centuries, and only became theologically diverse and fragmented with time. The further you go back, the more united Christianity is.”
“The proto-orthodox church fathers did not accept the authority of any texts we’d now consider non-canonical, such as the apocalypse of Peter.”
“Legendary accounts of Jesus birth, ministry, and death did not have time to form by the time the Gospels were written. So, the gospel accounts are purely historical.”

I Left Evangelical Christianity 5 Years Ago. Here's What I'm Still Deconstructing
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. I’m still deconstructing Christianity more than 5 years after deconverting from evangelicalism. Religious indoctrination takes serious time to deprogram, especially if you’ve been raised in the faith. Having been an Independent Fundamental Baptist until age 21, I’m still working through my views on secular morality and anti-theism, asceticism and pleasure-seeking, and the in-group-protecting narratives of evangelical Christians. I that hope sharing my ongoing deconstruction story helps others share theirs too.
My video on the cognitive biases which drive in-group-protecting narratives of evangelicals:

Why Christian Responses to Deconstruction Are So Predictable
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Whether you deconstructed Christianity recently or years ago, you’ve almost definitely been told “You just left because you want to sin. You hate god because life isn’t perfect. You’re trying to destroy the faith by sharing your story. You were never a true Christian. Your faith was obviously theologically weak,” and the like. Everyday Christians, as well as certain Christian apologists respond to deconstruction stories in these ways far too often, making them predictable. Why is this? With the help of some terms from the field of social psychology, I explain.
My video on the ancient origins of “People choose to disbelieve because they want to sin”:

The Forbidden Gospel Where Jesus Kills People
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. The Infancy Gospel of Thomas fills in the gaps of the life of Jesus found in the canonical New Testament gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Here, the child Jesus makes living birds from clay, curses people, performs miracles, smites and embarrasses his teachers, and confounds those who know him. This was a popular non-canonical gospel, being depicted in ancient Christian art of many forms. While not recently discovered, such as the books of the Nag Hammadi library, this gospel was considered heretical in the minds of many church fathers across time.

“It’s impossible for atheists to do this!” …but It’s Not
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Believers can do it no problem, but atheists? There’s no way! ...Right?
Christian apologist William Lane Craig’s “The Absurdity of Life Without God” contains the claim that atheists can’t be happy and philosophically consistent - that if an atheist is happy, it’s only because they’re living inconsistently with their own views, so atheism is truly unlivable. But what does the actual data say? Can atheists be happy without stealing from god? Here, I respond to WLC’s claim while discussing actual research on atheism and mental health / happiness.
