I found even more insane religious propaganda from a Muslim channel and had to respond to it.. This guy wants to get rid of freedom of speech and freedom of expression so that Mohammad, Allah, and Islam can't be insulted. Maajid Nawaz once fell victim to this kind of radicalizing propaganda, which goes to show how influential it can be even to intelligent young people. Luckily, Maajid now speaks against extremism at his foundation, Quilliam International. Islamism like this hurts everyone, especially vulnerable young Muslims. To stop Islamism, we must come together to counter propaganda, criticize bad Islamic ideas, and defeat anti-Muslim bigotry.
Whether you like it or not, the right to offend is a must. Let's follow the example of those like Christopher Hitchens and Sam Harris in defending it and using it for the betterment of society.

Sam Harris has dealt with countless quacks in his career, but Deepak Chopra might have been the biggest one of all. Even with Michael Shermer there to help, Deepak was difficult to pin down, much less debate. Harris applied his signature, efficient and cool-headed approach to the discussion. Outside of this event, these debate practices can be observed in footage from the Sam Harris, Jordan Peterson talks in Vancouver and Dublin, on the Waking Up podcast, on the Joe Rogan Experience, and throughout his speaking career.
Sam knows how pseudoscience preaching quacks manipulate their audiences, evade criticism, and recruit followers. So, he rarely misses a beat in taking them down, whether the topic is quantum healing, alternative medicine, religion, or mysticism.

Is the atheist community a cult? Some apologists say so. However, Steven Hassan's BITE model says differently. American Atheists, Freedom from Religion Foundation, Secular Student Alliance, the Atheist Community of Austin, and the like are under examination here. Atheism is not a religion or a belief system, but it's only fair to examine the atheist community in light of the same tools I use to call out religious and MLM cults. Shows like the Atheist Experience with Matt Dillahunty, and Talk Heathen with Eric Murphy actually demonstrate the community's support of free thought and lack of dogma.

This religious propaganda is insane. These guys not only advocate harmful political policies, like doing away with all apostates, but actually want to give Islam absolute power. This is the kind of radicalizing propaganda that those like Maajid Nawaz once fell victim to and now speak against at Quilliam International. Islamism like this hurts everyone, especially vulnerable young Muslims. Let's all do our part to counter propaganda, criticize bad ideas, and defeat anti-Muslim bigotry. Muslims and ex-Muslims alike benefit when ideas like these are defeated.
Whether you think that reform is our best option, like Maajid Nawaz or Sam Harris, or that religion must be defeated, like Armin Navabi, something must be done. The struggle for human rights in the Muslim world is the biggest civil rights issue of our time, and I hope you'll contribute to it with me.

Many theists believe and tell several lies about atheists, sometimes out of ignorance, and sometimes out of malice. Five of the lies I tackle here are that atheists lose faith because of hardship, atheists who deconverted were never true believers, atheists have never studied X religion, there are no atheists in foxholes, and that atheists secretly believe in god. Religious media loves to propagate all these falsehoods (I'm looking at you Pureflix's God's Not Dead and CBS' God Friended Me). For those believers who will listen, it only takes 10 minutes with a calm, friendly atheist to explain why all of these statements are false. That's why I'm here.
These false statements confuse a lot of people about why atheists don't believe in god, whether atheists can be good people, or if atheists are educated about religion. To further the conversation, we've got to put these to bed.

4 Liberal Defenses of Islam Debunked

While liberals like Sam Harris criticize Islam, and reformers like Maajid Nawaz criticize Islamism and call for Islamic reform, many liberals defend Islam, calling its critics bigoted against Muslims. I'm looking at you, Ben Affleck. In order to make progress on women's rights in Islam, LGBT rights, blasphemy laws, etc., criticism is necessary. Those of the political left often criticize Christian ideas, which is a good think, but many won't get equal treatment to Islam. If we want actual tolerance within secular societies, we need this dialogue to continue.
Muslim feminists like Amani al-Khatahtbeh contribute to this issue, often just trying to clarify whether most Muslims are peaceful or if Islam is peaceful, but there is a major downside to this: some liberals becoming poorly educated Islamic apologists. If we want the whole picture, academic, non-theological study of Islam is necessary, as is speaking to ex-Muslims like those at Ex-Muslims of North America.

I'm an atheist who constantly criticizes Christianity, but I've got to voice some criticisms of the ideas that some atheists have about Christianity and religion in general. Don't worry, I'm not espousing cultural Christianity or defending "Judaeo-Christian values" like Jordan Peterson or Ben Shapiro. I just want our criticisms to be as effective as possible. Hopefully no one takes the positions I criticize here as representative of what atheists believe in general.
Let's stop needlessly arguing over theology when we have secular scholarship at our fingertips.

Young Living Essential Oils is a cult, and an MLM. I almost joined the cult in college, but I got informed and avoided it. I used to thing Young Living was a scam and nothing more, but after having studied the work of cult expert and psychologist, Steven Hassan, I now know otherwise. D. Gary Young is a scam artist, criminal, and conman of the highest order. Contrary to what he taught, essential oils don't work as medicine, and they certainly don't cure cancer. Whether it's Young Living, Doterra, or any other multilevel marketing company selling oils, keep in mind that oils have minimal use outside of aromatherapy for comfort/relaxation.
Thanks to Telltale for introducing me to the BITE model and Hassan's work on cult psychology, and for contributing an awesome part to this video. Subscribe to Telltale: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgIi12EA6BQ8HKL8QUccsOQ

Deepak Chopra, David Avocado Wolfe, Mormons, multi-level marketing schemes, and Evangelical Christians all utilize common manipulation tactics which quacks and cult leaders thrive on. These cult recruitment tactics are far simpler and more widely used than most people imagine. Even people who mean well often prey on vulnerabilities in order to convert or recruit others. MLMs like Doterra and Young Living Essential Oils are jokingly called cults by the anti-mlm community, but they really do manipulate their distributors into peddling pseudoscience in a cult-like way. Hopefully this video will help prevent you from joining a cult.
A special note to those who've repeatedly told me this whole series on quacks is just a guise to bash Jordan Peterson: This is part 5 of this series, and he receives no mention in 3 of the parts. Sorry to disappoint, bucko.

It pushes pseudoscience like alien encounters, secret space programs, government conspiracies, ancient aliens, alternate history, and much more. Why Theists Can't Convert Atheists

Do atheists ever find god? How can you make an atheist believe in god? Can you convert an atheist? Well, if you're a theist, the answers to those questions might disappoint you. Theists often don't understand atheism in the first place, and even when they do, they often use faulty arguments to prove god's existence. When I came out as an atheist, I was bombarded by bad arguments for god, and that still hasn't changed much. So, I thought I'd give theists some advice on how to talk to atheists.
It strikes me how so many "My conversion from atheist to Christian" type stories involve emotional reasoning. The Kalam cosmological argument, Paschal's wager, the ontological argument, the argument for design, and the like don't seem to convince many atheists, and those with decent critical thinking skills don't seem to convert.

Jordan Peterson and Reza Aslan have called atheists like Sam Harris atheist fundamentalists. But are atheists fundamentalists? What do atheists believe which that make them fundies? Richard Dawkins has responded to this criticism before, but I felt it worthy to address on my own.
Christian fundamentalism breeds bad ideas like creationism and reliance on faith. Many atheists and anti-theists think that deserves a challenge. If that means we spend time debunking biblical literalism, then so be it.

Religion affects health in more ways than we often give it credit for. Many religions prescribe their own medical practices, even beyond typical examples like faith healing or staying sober. He're we discuss Zamzam water, blood transfusions, the medicine buddha mantra, ajwa dates, and christian counseling. Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Jehovah's Witnesses and more have their own awful suggestions about healthcare. Luckily, they're easy to debunk like other kinds of alternative medicine and pseudoscience. None of this is far off from the weird alt med ideas in my Gaia video.

In any serious confrontation, quacks everywhere utilize clever tactics to evade criticism. Even credentialed educators like Jordan Peterson occasionally use these tactics. Ravi Zacharias, Deepak Chopra, and creationists at Answers in Genesis are more clear cut quacks, and they make use of these regularly, as to avoid getting debunked quite as often. Like I've said before, whether or not you espouse faulty ideologies or pseudoscience, sometimes the WAY you communicate can be the most deceptive.
In your day-to-day, whether you're criticizing Christianity, quantum healing, creationism, 12 Rules for Life, or Jungian archetypes, be on the lookout for these tactics.

Here, Dr. Gerald Schroeder, Dr. John Lennox, and Dr. Francis Collins use science and religious apologetics to argue for God. This Is Why MLMs Get Called Cults

Multi-Level Marketing schemes like Lularoe, Young Living Essential Oils, Doterra, Kyani, Herbalife, and Amway are scams for sure, but are they cults? Here we cut past the success stories, the testimonies, and the how-to's in order to analyze these pyramid schemes in light of Steven Hassan's BITE model.
The world of pseudoscience is closely tied to the MLM world, as essential oils, naturopathy, homeopathy, anti-vax / anti-vaxxers, cancer conspiracies, and all kinds of alternative medicine exist in both. Direct sales and network marketing are often little more than alt-med quackery.

My Personal Experience with God (As an Atheist)
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. I'm an atheist, but I've personally experienced God in the same way that many religious people have. I left Christianity and my "personal relationship with Jesus Christ" a while back even though I had those experiences, and I think I have good reasons for that. The argument from personal experience is thrown at me often, so I wanted to have this on the record, as well as explain why personal experience isn't evidence for god.

Girl Defined is (Un)Surprisingly Islamic
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Girl Defined is a conservative Christian youtube channel which discusses feminism, godly womanhood, marriage, LGBT issues, modesty, and more. Unbeknownst to them, they have a ton in common with women in Islam. As we criticize Christianity, let's give similar criticism to Islam, the Quran, and the Hadith. We can do this while still respecting Muslims, especially women in Islam who are oppressed in multiple ways. Whether Christian or Islamic, bad ideas deserve criticism.

I Came Out Atheist and This Happened
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Atheists face discrimination all over, including in the United States. We're the most hated and/or distrusted group in America, so I had my concerns about coming out. I became an atheist over 2 years and just recently told my friends and family. Here are my experiences in coming out.

Jordan Peterson Misrepresents Science
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Jordan Peterson and Matt Dillahunty debated / discussed psychedelics, specifically magic mushrooms containing psilocybin, in a conversation hosted by Pangburn Philosophy back in May. Ultimately, Peterson cites that supernatural experiences induced by psilocybin cause smoking cessation, which in turns provides evidence of the supernatural. Matt replies, saying that science can't do that (unless you misrepresent it), and he's right.
I feel like if you put the weirdest parts of Joe Rogan, Sam Harris, and a bible in a blender, you'd get something similar to Jordan's point here.

Dangerous Posts in Essential Oils Facebook
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. DoTERRA and Young Living Essential Oils have a cult following, and that shows in the alternative medicine side of facebook. These seem to be the same crowd as anti-vaxxers and cancer conspiracy types. In case I didn't debunk the clearly enough, essential oils don't cure cancer, depression, or autism. They're supplements and no more.
As much I love talking about atheism, covering alt med and MLM cults is nice for a change.

HuffPost Discredits Its Own Arguments for Islam
Like and subscribe. This is an archive channel, i'm not the owner of the content, check the link in the end. Huffington Post tried to defend Islam, but discredited its own arguments instead. Muslims are peaceful in much of the world, but you're better off being honest instead of saying Islam is the religion of peace or having Muslim feminists argue for you when responding to Islamophobia. The Quran isn't totally peaceful, as evidenced by its followers. HuffPost uses arguments on the left that are just as bad as those on the right. They and Prager U are just two sides of the same coin.
