A Review of “The Shack” - Greg Koukl
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
A crystal clear explanation of God and humanity from the beginning to the coming end read Greg Koukl's book The Story of Reality: How the World Began, How It Ends, and Everything Important that Happens in Between http://amzn.to/2sFtpmg
“The Shack” is a movie based on the book by the same title written by Christian author, William P. Young. After suffering a family tragedy, Mack Phillips spirals into a deep depression that causes him to question his innermost beliefs. Facing a crisis of faith, he receives a mysterious letter urging him to an abandoned shack in the Oregon wilderness. Despite his doubts, Mack journeys to the shack and encounters an enigmatic trio of strangers led by a woman named Papa. Through this meeting, Mack finds important truths that will transform his understanding of his tragedy and change his life forever.
Today on the show, Kevin has Greg Koukl, an apologist and president of Stand to Reason. He is here to discuss the possibly controversial theology presented in the movie. Mainly, is it biblical to depict God as three distinct people and to depict God the Father as a woman? The answer may surprise you. Greg also shares some of his incredible apologetics knowledge and presents arguments and answers to some of the tough questions in Christianity.
Tune in to Educate For Life for a great show and discussion on theology and Christianity. If you want to learn more about Greg Koukl, you can check out STR.org.

Activist Mommy on Censorship - Elizabeth Martin Johnston
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
If you're concerned about Christians being silenced read the ACLU versus America http://amzn.to/2u7WafX
Censorship. Is it a benign tool used to prevent hate and prejudice or a weapon used to silence people who have a conservative and/or Christian worldview? To answer this important question, Kevin has Elizabeth Martin Johnston on the show today. She is better known as the Activist Mommy to her fans.
Elizabeth is an Activist Vlogger (video blogger) who educates about current events and topics that are important to families. The pulse behind everything Elizabeth does is her love for Jesus Christ, who saved her from her sin during her teenage years and launched her on a very unpredictable journey of service to Him, which has included foreign missions, orphanage ministry, outreach to kids in troubled inner-city areas, backyard bible clubs, street ministry, pro-life rescue ministry, public speaking, producing a movie, and homeschooling her ever-growing family.
Elizabeth is on a mission to expose the double standard of censorship. She has personally been on the receiving end of censorship, being banned from Facebook twice for taking a biblical stance on homosexuality. She is gathering evidence to expose Facebook for being biased against the worldview she holds to. If you’re watching today and you have experienced similar bias, Elizabeth asks that you contact her through her website at http://activistmommyofficial.com.

If everyone came from Adam and Eve, why are there different races?
Some people think the different "races" of humans are evidence for evolution, not creation. In reality, the ONE human race is explained perfectly by Biblical Creation, and supported by GOOD science—not Darwinian Evolution.
I teach an entire class series on Creation vs. Evolution. One of the classes is about the consequences of teaching false ideas like evolution (there are a lot). Check it out here: https://educateforlife.org/109preview

Leaving Mormonism - Dr. Corey Miller
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Today on Educate For Life, Kevin has as his guest Dr. Corey Miller. Corey Miller, Ph.D., is the President/CEO of Ratio Christi (2015). While he grew up in Utah as a sixth-generation Mormon, he came to Christ in 1988 and he has since been a youth and college pastor, a Bible college and university professor, campus minister, lecturer, and first and foremost an evangelist. From 2009-15 he served on staff with Cru's Faculty Commons ministry at Purdue. He is an Adjunct Professor of Philosophy and Comparative Religions at Indiana University-Kokomo. He is variously published and is co-editor of Is Faith in God Reasonable? Debates in Philosophy, Science, and Rhetoric (2014) and co-author of Ex-Mormon Scholars Tell Why: Testimonies and Reasons (forthcoming, 2017). He holds a master's degree in philosophy, biblical studies, and philosophy of religion and ethics.
Corey was raised a sixth-generation Mormon in Salt Lake City, Utah, with ancestors who were direct acquaintances with Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. Although Utah Mormonism is less insulated now, growing up he was honestly unaware that there were so many other options outside of Mormonism. But he was not concerned and felt secure in his religion.
Corey was invited to spend the summer of 1988 with a friend at his home in California. But his father made it contingent upon attending a non-denominational Christian camp there called Hume Lake. Although Corey was not living the ideal Mormon life at the time, he had no thought of ever changing religions. He believed Mormonism to be the one true religion. If it were not for the appeal of spending the entire summer on California beaches, he probably would not have attended the camp at all.
I arrived at Hume Lake without any great expectations. To his surprise, the camp speaker delivered a message that week on the topic of hell with a robust presentation of the Gospel. His soul resonated with the message and for the first time in his life, he understood his need for forgiveness. Devastated and in tears, he realized he was a sinner and could not merit forgiveness. He found security in Christ and it was further authenticated by seeing Christ's love displayed through the people in a way he had not previously encountered. There was something authentic and non-religious about it. Even with the religious upbringing, he never experienced God's love in that way until he met these people and then met their source, Jesus Christ.
Tune in for a powerful discussion on why Dr. Corey Miller and many other people have left Mormonism. Visit ratiochristi.org to learn more about the mission of Ratio Christi and the impact it is having around the world. You can also learn how you can get involved.

The Riddle of Origins - Mike Riddle
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
As Christians, we believe that God created us. Does it really matter how he did it? This week Kevin talks to Mike Riddle, founder, and president of the Creation Training Initiative, who has been involved in creation ministry for over 30 years. As someone who grew up in a non-Christian home and accepted the theory of evolution from a young age, Mike brings a unique perspective to creationism. In this episode, he explains why both the Bible and logic tell us that evolution is not an adequate view of origins. He talks about why a Christian's view of Genesis matters, and addresses some common objections to creation science.
In his early education, Mike was taught that evolution was the only theory around, and didn't think to question it. It wasn't until his adulthood, while he was serving in the marines, that a stranger planted the seed that would transform his life. One day while Mike was at the gym, another marine approached him out of the blue and shared the gospel. Mike didn't listen to a word of what the man was trying to tell him... or so he thought. Seven years later, alone in a hotel room, the gospel message hit Mike in a powerful way (even though no one else had shared it with him since that day). He got saved the same night and instantly wanted to know what God teaches about our origins in the Bible.
That night started Mike down a long road of studying Biblical origins and questioning evolution, which eventually led him to found the Creation Training Initiative. This ministry exists to train believers in creation apologetics so that they can effectively share the truth with others and refute evolutionary misinformation. In addition to the dozens of free resources on their website, CreationTraining.org, CTI is hosting the week-long intensive Creation Apologetics Teachers College in Ridgecrest, NC, from August 1-6 (click here for more info). This training event is no walk in the park, but it can turn a lay person into an expert on creation. Space is limited, so sign up soon!

A World Etched by Water - John Baumgardner
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
You probably wouldn’t expect a committed evolutionist with a secular upbringing, who earned multiple graduate degrees in the hard sciences from prestigious universities, to end up being one of the world’s leading creation scientists. But that’s exactly what happened with Dr. John Baumgardner of the Logos Research Associates, the foremost expert on Noah’s Flood and its significance to Earth’s geology.
After completing his BS in electrical engineering at Texas Tech and MS in electrical engineering from Princeton, John began work on his PhD. Some other students invited him to a Bible study that was covering the gospel of John, and despite his secular background he soon found himself face to face with Jesus. John gave his life to the Lord, and then had to determine how to best use his life for the Lord, while using his scientific training and also fulfilling his prior commitment to the U. S. Air Force. John talks with Kevin about his subsequent journey from witnessing with Campus Crusade for Christ, to earning more graduate degrees at UCLA, to creating the world’s greatest geologic modeling software, to developing anti-missile lasers for the Star Wars program at Los Alamos National Laboratory, to leading the Carbon-14 research with the RATE project, to joining the Logos Research Associates. He also shares some of the many evidences he has discovered as to why it was a global flood, not uniformitarian processes, that shaped the earth’s geologic features into what they are today.
You can learn more about John’s work with the Logos Research Associates, including how to get involved, at LogosResearchAssociates.org. You can find out more about the results of the RATE project (which set out to evaluate the alleged evidence for an old earth from radioisotopes) in the popular book Thousands, Not Billions, or the more technical volume Radioisotopes and the Age of the Earth, available from many book sellers.

Why Atheism Can't Explain Reality - Dr. Andy McIntosh and Eric Hovind
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Kevin recently moderated a debate between Jeff Archer (president of the Atheist Coalition of San Diego) and Dr. Andy McIntosh that focused on the question: Can an atheistic worldview make sense of reality? In the previous episode he talked to Jeff Archer about why he thinks the answer is yes; this time he talks to Dr. Andy McIntosh about why it is most definitely a "no." Eric Hovind of Creation Today is also present to weigh in on some of the issues.
Kevin, Andy, and Eric discuss why it is impossible for the universe as we know it to exist without God. They respond to a variety of arguments that atheists commonly use, including (but not limited to): life could increase in complexity without breaking down because the earth is an open system with energy coming in; the existence of intelligence doesn't require God, because humans are just a complex AI; crystals are an example of a natural increase of complexity apart from intelligence; and lastly, creationists aren't real scientists because they never make any scientific predictions that lead to valuable research or discovery. Listen to the full episode to hear why each of these assertions is incorrect, as well as other evidence that supports theism and refutes atheism.

Biblical Geology: the Stone-Cold Facts - Dr. Steve Austin
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Does the geologic evidence really prove an ancient Earth, or can a biblical perspective do a better job of explaining our world's features? This week Kevin's guest is research geologist Dr. Steve Austin. He may not be a stone-cold wrestler, but he does know a lot about rocks. You may think geology sounds boring, but Steve could prove you wrong: he recently climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, and has visited many other exotic and beautiful locations for his research (especially the Grand Canyon).
Steve talks to Kevin about some of the evidence he's uncovered for biblical history throughout his long and productive career. Where did the Grand Canyon come from, since it clearly wasn't formed by the Colorado River (as secular geologists are now admitting)? Why are there so many marine fossils in completely inappropriate places, like deserts and high mountains? Could there be evidence that there really was an earthquake when Jesus was crucified, as the Bible says? Steve addresses these questions and more while also sharing about his personal journey, from a rock-loving kid in a secular home to a Biblical Creationist and research geologist.
Steve doesn't hog all the adventure for himself! He also runs a program called Creation Adventures, where anyone can sign up to go on a geologic expedition. In May of 2017 he is leading a 7-day rafting trip through the Grand Canyon that will explore the evidence for Noah's Flood. Visit CreationAdventures.com to get more information and sign up!

The Heated Debate Over Global Warming - Dr. Jake Hebert
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Fantastic book by Dr. Jake Hebert on the ice age and the flood http://amzn.to/2sVlup9
Global warming is a hot topic in today’s political and scientific sphere. Some say if we don’t stabilize our climate now, we will soon see cataclysmic weather events and even cause another ice age. Others say our climate is self-regulating and will withstand any effects man may have on it.
Both sides claim to have rock-solid scientific evidence to back up their theories and today on Educate For Life, Kevin will examine the evidence. He is joined by guest Dr. Jake Hebert. Dr. Jake Hebert is a physicist who has studied factors that affect the environment. He has also written a book that examines how the ice age occurred in light of a Biblical Flood.
He believes that a person’s view on this issue depends on your worldview, more specifically whether you accept an old earth view or a young earth view. According to his research, the ice age was a one-time event caused by things far beyond man’s control. He has also done important research on the Milankovich Theory, which has fueled the current debate over climate change. He has found serious flaws in the theory that could turn the debate on its head.
Want to hear about these serious flaws and learn how climate change is explained by the Bible? Tune in to Educate For Life. If you want to read Dr. Hebert’s research for yourself, you can find it on http://icr.org, http://creation.com, and http://answersingenesis.org.

I Can Only Imagine - Jon Erwin
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Today on Educate For Life, Kevin has as his guest Jon Erwin. Jon Erwin is the co-writer and director of a new movie called “I Can Only Imagine” based on the hit song by the Christian band MercyMe.
It’s the song that brings ultimate hope to so many … often in the midst of life’s most challenging moments. Amazingly, the song was written in mere minutes by MercyMe lead singer Bart Millard. In reality, those lyrics took a lifetime to craft. Although he found faith at a young age, life wasn’t easy for Bart. He leaned into an active imagination and his love of music as escapes from troubled home life. As he grew older, Bart turned to football in hopes of somehow connecting with his abusive father. But a career-ending injury—combined with the vision of a teacher who saw unlimited potential—set Bart on a musical pathway.
Chasing a dream while running from broken relationships with his father and Shannon, his childhood sweetheart, Bart hits the road in an old, decrepit tour bus with his new band MercyMe—named for his grandmother’s favorite expression. With the guidance of a grizzled music-industry insider, the band begins a journey none of them could ever have imagined.
A gripping reminder of the power of forgiveness, “I CAN ONLY IMAGINE” beautifully illustrates that no one is ever too far from God’s love—or from an eternal home in Heaven.
Tune in for an inspirational story and to learn more about the directors and the movie. To find a theatre and get tickets for the movie, head over to https://icanonlyimagine.com/themovie.

How Rome Fell - Professor Edward Watts
In 509 BC, the Roman Republic was born. The Romans established a republic, a government in which citizens elected representatives to rule on their behalf. A republic is quite different from a democracy, in which every citizen is expected to play an active role in governing the state. This is the governmental model America’s Founding Fathers chose to emulate.
Because of the close similarities between Rome and America, some use it as a model to predict what the fate of America may be. Is America fated to fall and repeat the same mistakes as those of the Roman Republic? Here today on Educate For Life, Kevin has as his guest Professor Edward Watts.
Professor Watts received his Ph.D. in History from Yale University in 2002. His research interests center on the intellectual and religious history of the Roman Empire and the early Byzantine Empire. His first book, City and School in Late Antique Athens and Alexandria (University of California Press, 2006), explains how the increasingly Christian upper class of the late antique world used a combination of economic and political pressures to neutralize pagan elements of the traditional educational system.
His second book, Riot in Alexandria: Historical Debate in Pagan and Christian Communities (University of California Press, 2010), uses Greek, Latin, Coptic, and Syriac sources to reconstruct an Alexandrian riot that erupted in 486 AD. Riot received a 2010 PROSE Award Honorable Mention in Classics and Ancient History. His third book, The Final Pagan Generation (University of California Press, 2015) offers a generational history of the men born in the 310s that traces the experience of living through the fourth century’s dramatic religious and political changes. It was awarded the 2015 Phi Alpha Theta Best Subsequent Book Prize. His fourth book, Hypatia: The Life and Legend of an Ancient Philosopher (Oxford University Press, 2017) recounts the life of an important female philosopher whose work redefined philosophy and whose death resonated as a symbol of dramatic religious and social change in the early fifth century. He is also the author of Mortal Republic: How Rome Fell into Tyranny (Basic Books, 2018).

Church and State: Just How Separate? - Frank Kacer
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Can a biologically male transgender student be denied access to facilities intended only for girls? Can a public high school football coach pray on the field after games? Can a Christian photographer or baker decline to provide services for a homosexual wedding? Questions like these now arise with increasing frequency, and underlying all of them is the issue of separation of church and state.
This week Kevin talks with Frank Kacer, an expert on the relationship between politics and religion. Frank is a pastor and elder at Grace Bible Church in Escondido, a long-time Christian activist, the author of over 150 columns and op-eds on Biblical politics, and also a trained physicist! He is the founder of the Christian Statesman Internship Program, which he designed to transform believers into biblically based, politically conscious leaders of society.
Kevin and Frank talk in depth about the ubiquitous concept of separation of church and state. If these two bodies must remain totally separate, then how should Christians participate in politics? Is it really wrong to legislate morality? Frank explains that government is a morally neutral tool of society that can be used for good or evil. Because the government is so active in our lives, there is no hope of completely avoiding political issues. Instead we must know how to engage them faithfully, intelligently, and effectively.
Our government asks its citizens, who should be in charge and what laws should be enforced? If the Christians of America do not respond, others certainly will; and we might not like their answer.
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? ... You are the light of the world... let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." — Matthew 5:13-16.

Kevin Presents Young-Earth Creationsim to Atheists
This video is of a presentation that Kevin Conover made to the San Diego New Atheists and Agnostics in May 2012. He discusses intelligent design and the human genome, and specifically a) what intelligent design is, b) how we identify intelligent causation, and c) how evidence from the human genome supports young-earth creationism. There is also a Q&A session at the end.
Kevin invited John V., the speaker who introduces him in this video, to three of his apologetics classes to share his views on evolution, and John was gracious enough to set up this event for Kevin to share his views with John's group. There were about 30 atheists and agnostics in attendance.

Evidence For Easter - Dr. Clay Jones
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
How is it that one man—who possessed no political power, conquered no cities, and was publicly executed as a criminal—founded the largest and most persistent movement the world has ever seen? It all goes back to what happened on one fateful day: Easter Sunday. This week Kevin talks to Dr. Clay Jones, professor of Christian Apologetics at Biola University.
Having grown up with an atheist father and an occultist mother, Dr. Jones knows well that religious beliefs cannot just be based on feelings. All religions make truth claims, and it is important to evaluate such claims in light of actual facts. Can the resurrection of Jesus Christ hold up to such an evaluation? What about the people who say that Jesus never even existed? Isn’t it more likely that the disciples hallucinated about seeing the risen Jesus than it is that he actually raised? Kevin and Dr. Jones answer these questions and others using historical data.

Is Biblical Illiteracy the Church’s Biggest Problem - Kay Arthur
A 2016 LifeWay Research study found 1 in 5 Americans said they had read all of the Bible at least once. However, more than half said they have read little or none of it. “Churchgoers are ready to defend the Bible as true and as a faithful moral standard,” said Scott McConnell, executive director of LifeWay Research. “But most admit they stumble on understanding the specific meaning as they read.” So, how can you study the Bible effectively and gain understanding?
Today on Educate For Life, Kevin has as his guest Kay Arthur. Kay Lee Arthur (born November 11, 1933) is an international Bible teacher, four-time ECPA Christian Book Award-winning author, and co-founder of Precept Ministries International. Kay teaches inductive Bible study and has authored many inductive Bible study workbooks. The Inductive method of studying the Bible is a set of steps to follow to "mine" the details of the given book under study.
Kay Arthur’s exciting, practical approach to studying the Bible has helped millions of people discover the truth of God’s Word for themselves over the past five decades. Tune in to hear more about effective ways to study the Bible and learn about Kay’s own journey to faith. To find out more, check out https://www.precept.org/

From Bondage to Victory - Patti Height
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
The issue of homosexuality is a hot button topic in today's society. For Christians, it is even more so. In regards to the LGBT community, Christians and the church are often seen as bigoted, hypocritical, unloving, and uncaring. But is there a way for the church to change this perception and come alongside this community to minister to them and love them?
Guest Patti Height believes there is. She has founded Out of Egypt Ministries to help churches accomplish this goal. Out of Egypt is a non-profit ministry that is dedicated to speaking forth the truth of God’s Word to a generation that has been enslaved by lies. Patti Height knows the destructive bondage that comes as a result of believing and living under this deception and began this ministry with a desire to help others find the same peace and healing she found, through faith in Jesus Christ. As a teen, Patti turned to alcohol and drugs and later entered into the world of homosexuality. For many years she believed the lie that there was no hope for change, and her life spiraled down as a result. Today, Patti’s life is a testimony to the transforming power of God and the truth of His Word. In 2003, she was set free from the bondage of addiction and homosexuality and is now committed to sharing with others the hope and freedom she found in the Gospel.

I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves; I have broken the bands of your yoke and made you walk upright.

The Fate of the Apostles - Sean McDowell
A common argument for the truth of the resurrection is that the apostles all died as martyrs and there’s no reason they would have died for a lie. But how well does this argument hold up? What is the evidence that all the apostles died as martyrs? Is there any evidence?
Today on Educate For Life, Kevin talks with Sean McDowell. Sean has examined this topic in-depth and even wrote a book called “The Fate of the Apostles”.
Sean McDowell offers a comprehensive, historical analysis of the fate of the twelve disciples of Jesus along with the apostles Paul and James. McDowell assesses the evidence for each apostle's martyrdom as well as determining its significance to the reliability of their testimony. The willingness of the apostles to die for their faith is a popular argument in resurrection studies and McDowell offers insightful scholarly analysis of this argument to break new ground within the spheres of New Testament studies, Church History, and apologetics.
