Hanging Out With Costa Rica’s Orphaned Sloths
TRAVELLING TO Costa Rica every year to photograph baby sloths, many would say that Lucy Cooke has a dream job. Founder of The Sloth Appreciation Society, Lucy travelled to the Toucan Rescue Ranch and KSTR sanctuaries once again this year to take photographs for her 2018 calendar. The rescued sloths are all orphans who were either brought to the sanctuary with injuries or found alone on the ground. Their mothers were nowhere to be found, killed by dogs, electric pylons or hit by cars. The rehabilitation programme run by The Sloth Institute is a pioneering scheme, actively releasing sloths back into the wild where they belong.

These Indian Doctors Created An Animal Ark | WILDEST ANIMAL RESCUES
Two human doctors in India have dedicated their lives to helping both the people and animals in Hemalkasa, Maharashtra.
Dr Prakash Amte and his wife, Dr. Mandakini Amte started their charitable exploits in the early seventies when the doctors set up a hospital where they would treat tribal people for free. Their project Lok Biradari Prakalp was providing medical assistance to tribal people.
“We lived in tribal areas and provided medical aid to people even in the times when there was no electricity." says Dr. Prakash. “We made a cottage and started a hospital there. We faced many problems in the beginning, as people had no faith in us. They used to run away from us."
Then, after a chance meeting with an orphaned monkey, the Amtes opened up an animal orphanage - called Amte’s Animal Ark - for rescued wild animals.
One day the doctors came across a group of people coming back from the hunt, with two monkey tied to the bamboo stick, a mother and her baby, who was trying to suckle milk from her teat. The Amtes offered the hunter rice and vegetables in exchange for the baby monkey, which they agreed to. That was their first bargain.
The family then started bargaining with the tribals in exchange for animals that they rescued, including a baby bear. For the last two decades, the Amte family have rescued animals including jackals, leopards, jungle cats, sloth bears, giant squirrels, rat-tail langurs, four-horned antelopes, black buck antelopes, rat snakes, Indian pythons, crocodiles, monitor lizards, hynas, peacocks, spotted deer, and porcupines.

Meet The Bald And Beautiful Skinny Pig
This bold, but beautiful guinea pig lives with his owner Jessica in the Southern parts of the Netherlands. Pim is in fact a Skinny Pig, a type of hairless guinea pig. Today’s Skinny Pig is a cross between haired guinea pigs and a hairless lab strain, traditionally bred for laboratory use in dermatology studies. Skinny pigs are as healthy as ordinary guinea pigs, they just typically only have hair on their muzzles, feet and legs. With his hairless body and pink skin you could mistake this animal for a piglet rather than a rodent.
Because of his hairless body, this piggie needs warm clothes to keep him warm, so his owner Jessica has made him tons of sweaters. Because of him being very cute when dressed in this cozy clothing and cuddling under the warm blanket, Pim has become a rising Internet star. Everybody seems to love tiny Pim!
Pim has lots of animal friends. Dogs, hamsters, chickens just name it and you can find it on his animal friends list.
This pink chubby skinny pig has a healthy appetite. Man, he’s an eating machine! Everything that goes inside his mouth is "grinded" in just a few seconds. Pim’s owner Jessica Pires is very aware of his eating abilities, as she says "Every time my mother comes into my room when the curtains are closed, he will scream until he gets his vegetables."
According to Jessica, little Pim loves all his fans and he loves to be famous. Some of her followers are so in love with him that they would love to see him every day. And for some people he is the best piggy of Instagram.

'Deadpool’ Prevents Epic Battle Between Alligators
An Alligator wrangler dressed as superhero Deadpool courageously breaks up a fight between two gators going head-to-head over territory. Someone needed to suit up to end this battle, and Deadpool walks in to tame the mighty reptiles.
The man behind the mask was not Ryan Reynolds, who played the former Special Forces operative in the 2016 film of the Marvel comic series, but experienced gator wrestler Jason McDonald. McDonald, 36 from Aurora, Colorado works at The Colorado Gator Farm and has been wrestling gators for 12 years - and says he has only been bitten once.
This farm was celebrating gator fest, the theme of which was superheroes, going somewhat to explain Jason's bizarre choice of outfit. Despite his heroic costume, he says the outfit made his job even more dangerous by restricting his vision while helping a wounded alligator.
He closes gator's mouth and shuts his eyes, as he sits on top of him, holding his front legs. This female has been fighting and has come off second best so they now have to treat her nasty wound on her front leg.
Most of the aligators on the farm are rescues confiscated from people's homes, the farm tries to give the reptiles as natural environment as possible. They also give gator handling classes, so people can learn how to become alligator fighting super heroes just like Jason and his helping hand, reptile wrestler Jay Young whose family first set up the Colorado Gator Farm.

This Adorable Canine Is Best Of Friends With A Playful Big Feline
Playing rough with a jaguar would leave most thinking this pup’s chance of survival is slim at best. But this unlikely dog and big cat pairing are actually best of friends – playing, sleeping and even eating together 24 hours a day.
Bullet the Jack Russell dog became pals with the jaguar, fondly known as ‘Jag’, after he was moved to the Akwaaba Lodge in South Africa. Now the two are almost inseparable!
When it comes to friendships in the animal kingdom, it’s rare you would think a dog and a jaguar would be best buds. Jag the Jaguar came to them at a very young age, and was in need of company.
Facility owner Layla knew that Bullet the Jack Russell was the perfect canine companion for the job. She says: “Every night Jag needed comfort so he took me in as a mom. And as I could not let him sleep with me all the time, I put Bullet with him.
“These two struck it off straight away. They don’t leave each other alone, they feed together, sleep together, do everything together. They are like brothers.”
They play together, sleep together and even eat their meals together. Showing a kinship and wonderful understanding between species, this video proves to us that if a dog and jaguar can get along, there’s hope for Celtics and Lakers fans yet.

Vicious Battle Between Two Monitor Lizards Caught On Video | SNAPPED IN THE WILD
Dramatic footage shows two monitor lizards locked in a vicious battle, deep in the heart of the Greater Kruger National Park in South Africa. Filmed by renowned wildlife ranger Rob Vamplew, the two alpha-male beasts hold nothing back in their duel, which appeared to be over territory rather than food or female companions. The fight itself lasted for more than 15 minutes, with Rob admitting he had never seen anything quite like it in his 20 years of safaris.
The ranger said: "A sighting like this for me is very special. I spend a lot of time on safari and to see something like this is unusual and as exciting as watching predators hunt."
Throughout the encounter, both lizards do their best to gain the upper hand, grappling and biting their opponent in what looked more like a slow dance than a deadly confrontation. In Rob’s footage, neither appears to dominate, as both lizards seemingly hold nothing back throughout the clash.
Unfortunately, the fate of the two reptiles remains unknown, as the pair's intense clash took them down a steep hill and out of sight.
The monitor lizards are large lizards in the genus Varanus. They are native to Africa, Asia and Oceania, but are now found also in the Americas as an invasive species. A total of 79 species are currently recognized.

Buffalo Mourn Dead Female After Lion Attack | SNAPPED IN THE WILD
AN encounter between a herd of cape buffalo and a pride of lions produced one of the rarest and most heartbreaking scenes ever captured in the wild. After taking down a lone female buffalo, the lionesses at the Greater Kruger Park South Africa, were faced by the angry herd coming to the defence of their fallen comrade. Within a few short moments the herd tended to the already dead buffalo, seemingly trying to get her to wake up. Cameraman and veteran safari guide, Rob Vamplew, filmed the bizarre event on a visit to the game reserve in April 2017.

Meet The Youngest Owner Of A Rescue Zoo Who Helps Mistreated Animals
While a lot of millennials live with loud flatmates, 24-year-old Nikolai Ankergren shares his home with over 600 noisy animals, no wonder he is constantly getting interrupted. Twenty years ago, Nikolai’s parents, Jorgen and Joan bought a zoo and started the first zoo and rescue centre for exotic animals in Denmark.
Unfortunately, two years ago Nikolai’s father passed away from cancer, leaving Nikolai and his mother to look after the busy zoo and the rescue animals. Nikolai went to pursue his dream as a game developer, but after his father’s passing, he had to return to his hometown and help his mother run the zoo.
Owning a zoo is a busy work, with Nikolai taking on many jobs, feeding, cleaning and playing with the animals. 600 animals may sound like plenty, but Nikolai actually wants the zoo to grow. He hopes to fulfill his parents’ dream and make it the biggest rescue center for exotic animals in all of Europe. Things work different than in the traditional zoos. They feel the responsibility to help where they can, that is when they converted the zoo into a rescue zoo instead.
That means taking in mistreated animals that come from abusive situations, such as laboratory animals, given that, some of their animals do have scars and problems of which they have to take care of. Having to support his mother and the zoo, Nikolai has come up with a creative way to raise some money. A mobile app game about the zoo. The game’s profits will go to various charities and Nikolai hopes the money raised will also help realize his family’s dream of making their rescue center the biggest in Europe.

The Undercover Cat Man Feeding Hundreds Of Strays
When Glen Venezio moved to Puerto Rico eleven years ago, he was immediately struck by the sight of the stray animals that roam the streets of the city. But instead of turning a blind eye, the man started caring for the animals, first from his own pocket, and now with the help of donations.
Starting at ten o’clock at night, Glen spends two to three hours preparing the food and water that he then brings to all the strays on his route around Santurce in Puerto Rico, finishing at five, sometimes even seven in the morning. Over the years, Glen has also spayed and neutered over 100 cats, but some of his friends have also brought in a few felines to be spayed on his behalf.
Locals are against his benevolent actions, so lately he has a police officer that follows him around, to make sure there is no trouble. Glen has helped the local police precinct with some animal cruelty cases, saying that more and more kittens, even whole litters, are being abandoned every day and not enough locals do anything to prevent or stop this.

Brooklyn Cat Cafe Employs Rats To Care For Kittens
There are some people out there who believe that animals are just ordinary creatures but the truth is the animal kingdom never ceases to amaze and inspire us, making us put all our differences aside. Unusual friendships happen all the time and not just in the world of humans but with animals also. Giraffes and ostriches, dogs and owls, chickens and puppies, rabbits and deer, lions and bears are just handful examples of how friendships in the animal kingdom have no limits. And friends do not have to look anything alike to make a great team just as this unusual friendship proves.
Their friendship is definitely something to be admired and taken as an example. The extraordinary difference between these species is just not at all an issue for them to see as a barrier but better yet an opportunity to show the world that all of us can somehow find a way to get along and love each other.
Rats and cats aren’t famous for their strong friendship, however this New York cafe en'tails' peace and harmony between the furry animals. The Brooklyn Cat Cafe located on Atlantic Avenue has recruited two rodents, Emile and Remy, to help care for young orphaned kittens.
This is an extraordinary tail with a happy ending which is basically a sanctuary for animals that have lost their way and have been limited by nature in one way or another. This lovely cafe shop has found a amazing way to bring a news meaning to unusual friendships. People are free to walk in, get some coffee and enjoy the presence of cats and rats. These species are known to have no love for each other going by stereotypes, but don't you be to quick to say until you watch this video.
Enjoy!

Nature is an amazing and frightening thing. It can bring new life into this world while at the same time take it away. It seems that was the case in this clip as these hippos have a very close call with a group of crocodiles!
Wild hippo parents welcome a teeny calf into the world meters away from a swarm of crocodiles searching for their next meal. While other safari goers focused on the nearby wildebeest herd migrating across the Mara River, this tour group settled in to watch a new mum give birth - a rare opportunity for safari goers and guides alike. But within moments of its entrance into the world in September 2016, the excitable calf veered into the path of a crocodile. Luckily it got saved just in time!

Bald Birds Find Love In Polyamorous Relationship | Cute As Fluff
Love is in the air in Florida, as these three lovebirds have formed an unlikely polyamorous relationship. The new bird in town is three-year-old Rhea, who suffers from the same condition as once monogamous Indi and Lemon. Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease affects the feather follicles in birds, causing them to fall off completely. Both Rhea and Lemon have been completely affected by it, though Indi is yet to become bald.
Rhea’s owner had to give her precious pet away when her work visa had expired, because PBFD is highly contagious, but not present in every country in the world, and her native Panama is one of them.
Fortunately, Fabiana Guagliardo and her family have taken Rhea in as one of their own.
She said: "Since we already had Lemon and Indi, who also live with this disease, I already knew what to do! I guess that we were very worried at first. Mainly because Rhea is very intense and loves having all the attention in the room.
Fabiana was worried that Rhea might become a third wheel for her birds, but Indi warmed up to her immediately, allowing Lemon to rest, since she is worse off with her condition.
Despite sharing one male, the two females only ever get jealous over food. Fabiana says: "If Rhea uses or gets near Lemon’s yellow plate, they fight! Other than that, they share everything. Sharing is caring, right?”

Orphan Elephant Calf Survives Predator Attack: WILDEST ANIMAL RESCUES
An emaciated orphaned elephant calf was rescued from the wild after tourists spotted him struggling. Kenya Wildlife Service and David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust responded to reports of the wandering calf on March 18 and dispatched a rescue team to pick up the calf. Angela Sheldrick, Executive Director of DSWT, said: “The Rescue Team located the calf after a short search and it became clear that he was in desperate need of rescuing, and in fact with the infamous Tsavo lions plentiful in that area, it was a miracle that he was still alive. “Small predators - we suspect jackals- had attacked his rear end and hind legs and, due to his wounds coupled by poor condition, it was evident that we needed to respond fast.”

Unique Tiny Rescue Dog Finds Fur-Ever Home
This tiny, funny looking dog is named Cletus. He’s got a crooked nose, a terrible overbite and a hump on his tiny back. When he was found, wandering the streets of Los Angeles, he already had lived a terrible life and no one knew where he had come from.
When Cletus was rescued by Best Friends Animal Society, he had respiratory problems and trouble eating. But after getting slightly better, his photo was taken and uploaded to Best Friends Animal Society’s Instagram page, where he stole the heart of Summer Esslingen, Mark Enrietto’s girlfriend.
He had just come home from work when Summer sent him a photo of Cletus, demanding that he went to Best Friends LA to pick Cletus up. That’s when love at first sight happened between the two.
Cletus loves all dogs, but because of his looks, some dogs don’t like Cletus back and don’t know how to lay with him. The tiny dog gets tired very easily, so he can only walk around the cul de sac for 15 minutes or so, before having to lay down.
Cletus might have a myriad of health issues and he can only eat specialty dry dog food, but when it comes to posing in doggy outfits, this once-unfortunate puppy is a rising star on Instagram!
After falling in love with Cletus, the pair fully recommend adopting a dog, even if they look a little different.

Pod Of Orcas Take Down Minke Whale | SNAPPED IN THE WILD
A group of scientists and tourists, led by photographer Mikhail Korostelev, has the unique experience while on an excursion in Avacha Gulf on Kamchatka, in June 2017. The group, organized by Team Trip, an adventure ecotourism company, came across a pod of transient whales hunting down a minke whale.
There are two types of orcas in the wild. There are residents, those who live in the same place and feed off fish and there are the rare, transient orcas, like these, who migrate and can take down bigger prey, like this poor fellow.
Team Trip partnered with Far East Russia Orca Project (FEROP) an organisation comprised of scientists who study the magnificent creatures. During the sighting of the transient orcas killing the minke whale, they managed to record some rarely heard calls these carnivorous animals make after a kill.
The pod of orcas have all surrounded the minke whale from the sides and top, preventing him to reach the surface and get some air. According to Mr. Korostelev, the orcas were following the whale for quite some time, until the animal grew tired and stopped resisting. Orcas in the wild are known for being highly organized predators, using their coordinated attacks to take down prey their own size.

Texas’ Wild Alligator Catchers
Texas is the home of a pair of wild gator catchers , who are making a name out of themselves for their heroic efforts to relocate the beasts of the marsh.
Former dental assistant Christy Kroboth and ex-healthcare manager “Gator” Chris Stephens make up the Gator Squad. The Squad service residential and public areas in and around Houston, Texas. Unlike others in their profession, who exterminate the huge reptiles, these two are actually committed to relocating them and educating the public on how to react when they come across one.
Christy was only a couple years in the business when she caught Gator Squad's biggest gator, which they nicknamed Godzilla. The beast, measuring 13 feet in length and weighing 900 pounds, was found in the parking lot of a hardware store.
Chris is the more experienced part of the Squad, being in the business on and off for 20 years, starting at a gator ranch. He says that chasing and managing alligators makes him happy and that he would rather deal with a dozen alligators at once that having to deal with human employees.
The duo catch about 100 alligators a year, of all sizes and temperaments. Given the size of the area that the Gator Squad is covering, these scaly beasts can be found in the weirdest places, even in cemeteries.

Hostile Llama-Alpaca Hybrid Headbutts Unwanted Visitor
This feisty llama brought some drama to an unwanted visitor – who she chased out of her pen. The amusing footage, which was shot at Tri State Zoo in Maryland, shows Animal Bytes TV producer Brian Barczyk taking on the role of zookeeper for the first time. But Brian didn't get a warm welcome from Misty – a four-year-old llama crossed with an alpaca. Barczyk said he was surprised by the animal's behaviour. Check out this hostile alpaca!
Here we have a ton of options for alpaca plush animals. Although this alpaca was pretty aggressive, they are still adorable creatures loved by many children around the world. It's a promise that if you buy one of these alpacas, it won't run at you like this one did, that's for sure!
Some people love these fluffy guys, and some people can't stand them! What would have you done in this situation? Would you even be caught being that close to an animal like an alpaca? Let us know in the comment section!
When Brian Barczyk volunteered to clean up this zoo’s petting area he got more than he bargained for. Head zookeeper of the Tri-state zoological park in Cumberland MD want to make sure they are looking good for people coming in and taking care of the animals, so the petting area is where they start. Even though Brian is known for his online videos with snakes and other reptiles, on this occasion, he wanted to get a feel for the zookeeping of some other animals. Thinking it was some pretty easy job, he was up for a big surprise! Namely the alpaca hybrid wasn’t a fan of the reptile man and soon let him know that!
While you would expect animals in the petting area to be quite docile, this four-year-old llama-alpaca cross isn’t that keen on keeping Brian in the pen. However, despite his problems with Misty, it seems he shouldn’t take it too personal as the animal seemed to be aggressive with the head zookeeper as well.
After watching this clip, you probably won’t believe this, but llamas can be a quite organized gang and even try to snatch a vehicle from the unsuspecting scents! For real! As you are about to see, this can happen in real life! In another video, we see two guys riding through something that looks like a safari park when a bunch of llamas surrounds them. They try feeding them in the attempts to make them leave, but these hilarious llamas are not giving up!
One of them even stood in front of the car, so the guys can’t leave! How hilarious is that? One of the guys is obviously scared, while the other one keeps his cool and tries to come up with the solution to this crazy situation. In the end, he politely asks llama to move, and she does exactly that! LOL! Can llamas understand English? Judging by this video, yes, they can! Well, at least when you are super polite to them!
What do you think about this video? Make sure you tell us more in the comments down below. If you like what you see, don’t forget to share it with others who might like it as well. It just might be the highlight of their day! Enjoy!

Angry Elephant Topples Car
We have all had those days when just about anything would set us off into a flurry of anger, wanting to destroy everything in our path. Check out this INCREDIBLE footage of an angry elephant easily flipping over a car with its trunk. The elephant was appearing at a local festival called Ambalapura in Thrissur, Kerela in Southern India when it went on the rampage. The elephant easily flipped over motor cycles and the car before being calmed down.
