Spanish 101 - Learn the Spanish Verb IR To Go for Beginners - Spanish With Profe

In this video you will learn the Spanish verb IR which means "to go".

Ir (to go) is an irregular verb in Spanish, just like "to go" is in English.

"Ir" is followed by the preposition "a".
a= to, a preposition of movement

yo voy a (I go)
tú vas a (you go)
él, ella, usted va a (he, she, you formal goes)
nosotros/as vamos a (we go)
ellos, ellas, ustedes van a (they, you all go)

In Spanish we can use the verb "ir" + a + the infinitive of any verb to talk about the future
Infinitive= an unconjugated verb
e.g cantar, dibujar, beber, escribir,

You will need to conjugate "ir" according to the person doing the action, then add "a" and then add the given verb in the infinitive

dibujar (to draw)
Yo voy a dibujar. (I am going to draw.)

escribir (to write)
Ella va a escribir. (She is going to write.)

You can also make any statement/sentence into the future by following the same pattern.
ir + a + infinitive

1-Yo dibujo. (I draw)
In this example you will need to convert "dibujo" to its infinitive form so "dibujar"

2-Yo voy a dibujar. ( I am going to draw.)
This is how it will look after you have converted the verb to its infinitive form.

A few more examples.

Nosotros cantamos. (We sing.)
Nosotros vamos a cantar. (We are going to sing.)

Ellos beben. (They drink.)
Ellos van a beber. (They are going to drink.)

Tú escribes. (You write.)
Tú vas a escribir. (You are going to write.)

Also with "ir" we learn that "a" + "el" = al
e.g.
Ella va a + el museo
(museo is masculine and it is singular, so you will need to make a contraction a+el= al)
Ella va al museo. (She goes to the museum.)

Do not make any changes to: a + la, a + los, a + las
