Long after the history of Joseph, we learn about the history of king David – how he started out as a teenage shepherd and how God raised to be the king of Israel. A lot happened in his life, and we get to see what the Bible recorded for us, as God’s Eternal Word.

In the history of king David, we find other people sinning against him and him doing the right thing, him sinning and then being confronted, and boldly repenting because he knew who God is. We also see others sinning and him doing nothing about it even though he could have. And we see him sinning again, and then repenting again.

His history brings us a more full picture of our own relationship with God. We all do the right thing sometimes, and the wrong thing sometimes, just like king David did. And we can learn a lot from the way he worshipped God and repented of his sins, but also a lot about God’s Grace, Mercy, and Justice under the Old Convenant.
