Truth Be Told by Matthew West - Relaxing Piano Cover by Guy Faux.

“Truth Be Told” was released in 2020 by Christian recording artist Matthew West.

I knew as soon as I heard this song on the radio that I would have to arrange it for solo piano.

As an instrumentalist, I’m usually looking for a song with a great melody, but the first line of the lyrics is what really got my attention.

Line 1:

Lie number one, you’re supposed to have it all together. And when they ask how ya doin’ and tell ‘em never better.

And of course, the chorus says it all…

But truth be told, the truth is rarely told. I say I’m fine, yeah I’m fine, oh I’m fine, hey I’m fine, but I’m not. I’m broken. And when it’s out of control I say it’s under control but it’s not, and YOU know it.

The message in this song for me is simple — when we are honest and admit we are broken, that’s when we are willing to open our eyes and admit that God exists.

Jesus died on the cross for our sins, but it often seems that we have to hit rock bottom before we are willing to turn to God for help.

The Covid-19 quarantine has given my wife and I the opportunity to study the Bible more.

It’s easy to think that we are in control, but God allowed Covid-19 to emerge worldwide to remind us that He is in control. We need to trust Him for everything.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.
