“Better” was written by Christian singer/songwriter Pat Barrett, with help from Ed Cash and Chris Tomlin.

When I arrange a vocal song for solo piano, especially a worship song, my goal is to give the listener something that can bring them closer to God.

Something that is more likely to inspire them to open up their Bible and read God’s word, instead of something that will merely provide entertainment.

I don’t have a problem with providing entertainment, but if I can motivate and inspire someone to pray or dig into God’s word, then all those hours of practicing as a kid will have meant something in the eternal landscape.
