“Against The Wind” by Bob Seger - Relaxing Piano Cover by Guy Faux.

Any time I do a cover song, I try to use some of the most recognizable riffs from the original recording, while adding a few new riffs of my own. I hope you enjoy my arrangement.

From the 1980 album of the same name, “Against The Wind” was the second single released from the album. The hit song by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band peaked at #5 on the Hot 100 Billboard Chart.

Music critics at the time had all sorts of interpretations of the song. Maury Dean said it dealt with all the burdens we’ll face in life.

Another critique described it as a folksy song with pretty piano.

Dave Marsh from Rolling Stone Magazine was quite harsh when he said there were no memorable lyrics from any of the songs from the album. He later retracted some of his comments and praised a few lines from “Against The Wind”.

Of course the only interpretation that matters is Bob Seger’s, who said the song was about his days as a high school cross country runner, explaining that the song was simply about trying to move forward in life while holding onto your sanity and integrity.
