After a brief exchange, Biden called me back 10 seconds later asking again, ‘Is Jake there?’” Appel told Biden, “No, he's traveling with you,” adding, “He's on the same trip that you are.” Appel also described his perspective on the results of Donald Trump’s 2024 election victory, stating that White House officials felt “trauma-bonded" after the election, adding, “We're also all kind of concerned about them [Trump Administration] coming after us.”
