BIBLE SCHOOL EDITION — Nathan shoots the breeze with Pastor Scott Frerking about how despair (depression) is the hopeless state in which we choose not release our circumstances and relationships to God — that is the Father’s good character, Jesus’ redemption, or the Holy Spirit’s empowerment. They share how depression holds on to our rights, desires, beliefs, and expectations of how we think a circumstance should work out or a person should behave.

APPLICATION QUESTIONS
When or with who do you seem to lack peace, feel a lack of focus and clarity, or feel a lack of resolution? With your answer to the previous question, how do you generally cope with these feelings (what do you do, where do you go, with whom do you spend time)? Control? Distract? Medicate? What achievement would make you feel successful?  What circumstance would make you feel satisfied? Whose attention would make you feel significant? What OTHER factors have you dealt with or struggle with that contribute to your lack of hope or resolution?
