There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the live-action Zelda movie since it was announced by Shigeru Miyamoto back in November. Some have been saying this will be Nintendo and Sony’s Lord of the Rings, but the director has other ideas.

During an interview director Wes Ball stated he envision a Zelda movie to be more like a live-action Miyazaki movie. He goes on to say he’s been a huge fan of the Zelda franchise and wants to do it right while staying true to the source material. It certainly helps that the original creator of the franchise, Shigeru Miyamoto is involved with the project. We saw his involvement with the Super Mario Bros. pay off by creating something fans loved. Wes Ball may not have an extensive resume as a director, but neither did the directors of Super Mario Bros either.
