On Tuesday, Michigan’s Attorney General, Dana Nessel, filed felony charges against 16 Republicans who posed as fake electors for former President Donald Trump in 2020.

These individuals are accused of submitting false certificates claiming they were legitimate electors, despite Joe Biden’s victory in the state.

The charges include eight criminal counts, such as forgery and conspiracy to commit election forgery, with the most severe charges carrying a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison, the Associated Press reported.

Among the group facing charges are Kathy Berden, the head of the Republican National Committee’s Michigan chapter, Meshawn Maddock, the former co-chair of the Michigan Republican Party, and Stan Grot, the Shelby Township Clerk.
