2017-2020 Hyundai Elantra – Change Transmission Fluid (ATF) and How to Remove that Pesky Fill Bolt
My daughter purchased this car a few months ago and we do not know the maintenance history. It has 129,204 miles. In this video we will change the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF). The most difficult part of this job, if you are doing it for the first time, is removing the fill bolt. It is a poor design but in this video you will see how to successfully remove it, and modify it, so it will not be a problem in the future. I recommend changing the ATF every 30,000 miles. If you are like us, and purchased it used and don’t know the history, just start where you are and then do it every 30,000 miles.

Valvoline MAX Life ATF full synthetic
Quantity: Approximately 4 quarts
Fill bolt on top
Drain bolt on bottom: 24mm, torque to 30 ft.-lb.
Crush Washer: 18 mm
