3/29/2022 Captain Larry Blieka Castnet for Live Bait
3/29/2022 Captain Larry Blieka of Dogfish Charters made a quick stop at one of the local islands to set us up with some live bait. First cast yielded four dozen live bait fish. Larry made two more perfect cast, but yielded nothing. That was it, we packed the castnet away, and headed for a couple of the local docks to fish under. Action packed day, for at least 10 short Snook, 2 Jacks, and 25 Snappers, which we kept five of the biggest. We fished three people, Captain Larry Blieka, Brian of SW Pennsylvania and myself. Beautiful weather, great day, great company!

3/29/2022 Fishing off Sanibel Light House
3/29/2022 Brian from SW Pennsylvania, Captain Larry Blieka and myself anchored off Sanibel island to begin our fishing day. Weather was beautiful, clear blue sky‘s. My first time getting to see Sanibel Lighthouse from a boat. We finished herring baits. Sanibel Lighthouse was our second drop. Nothing happening, so we weighed anchor and headed inshore. Captain Larry through his cast net off one of the local islands and caught about 3 1/2 dozen baitfish on the first cast. That was enough to set us up for some locking load Snook and Snapper fishing. Oops, almost forgot the couple jacks we caught. Seem to Manatee swin by, along with a couple dolphin. Went home with five nice Snappers to be filleted for A night out at the Lazy Flamingo. Great day fishing, weather was beautiful, great company!!

12/3/2021 Robbie Gallo of Gallo Tree Service removing large limb on Red Oak Tree in driveway. The owner was not home that day, so we were unable to have them move the BMW which lie below. After some careful rigging, the lamb was slowly lowered and away from the vehicle. As usual, no damage. Rob makes reference to his upcoming birthday February 18th. When he was born, a US Coast Guard Small Boat Station in Chatham Massachusetts was performing the Coast Guard‘s greatest small boat rescue ever against impossible odds. This tree wrapped up our day on Brides Path Southampton, NY. On the lowering lines that day, former Second Class Boatswains Mate Tommy May

10/23/2021 Robbie Gallo of Gallo Tree Service
10/23/2021 Robbie Gallo of Gallo Tree Service. Rob started his career trimming trees, when he went to work for a friend and fellow surfer name Roger. Rob started as a groundman and eventually started trimming trees under Roger’s supervision. His first six months climbing, he only used a handsaw. Here he is close to 50 years later and pushing 70 years of age Pruning a large white oak tree in Bayview Oaks in the town of Southampton. I’ve had the pleasure of working with five different tree men over the course of 30+ years. Robbie Gallo is by far the best tree pruner I have ever seen. I met Rob after transferring from my Bronx firehouse to Queens. He worked in my battalion in FDNY Engine Co 313/aka “The Raccoon Lagoon”. I think he’s looking to do another year or two, which would put him over 70 years of age! Super safe climber, everything by the numbers. It was a pleasure working with him. Tom

This might’ve been Rob‘s third time pruning it in 25 years. For those who have been fortunate enough to have Rob prune their trees, know that he is one of the best. Not bad for a guy a couple months away from seven years of age!

3/13/2022 Carol & Larry’s St Patrick’s Day Shindig
We traveled from Cape Coral to Fort Myers to meet up with Carol & Larry for their St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. We weren’t disappointed, great company, great food. Carol pulled out all the stops on her corned beef and cabbage. Boy oh boy was it good! While I loaded up my plate with corned beef, cabbage carrots and small red potatoes, I scanned Carol’s countertop where I observed three loaves of Irish soda bread. One particular loaf caught my eye, as it had a nice well done crust, a little over a quarter of an inch in thickness. After finishing the main course, I dove into the well done loaf, topping two pieces off with some soft Kerry Gold butter. Carol’s Irish Soda Bread brought back memories of growing up in Central Islip and eating my grandmother, Mary O’Leary’s Irish Soda Bread. Happy St. Patrick’s Day Everybody!! Hope you enjoyed the video

3/7/2022 FDNY Brothers Shawn & Tom May arrive home from “The People’s Convoy”
3/7/2022 FDNY Brothers Shawn & Tom May arrive safely back home in Cape Coral Florida. We departed on 3/2/2022 at 1am enroute to rendezvous with “The People’s Convoy”. After a long drive on the 2nd we stayed at Huntersville, North Carolina. From there we continued through North Carolina (To be Rather Than to Seem), Virginia (Thus Always to Tyrants), West Virginia (Mountaineers are always free) and eventually making our way to Cambridge Ohio (With God All Things are Possible). We were fortunate enough to arrive at Cambridge Ohio an hour before the convoy rolled into town. What a sight! Very impressive! After an evening rally, we left the following morning and traveled to Hagerstown Maryland. Early on into that leg of the trip my pickup experienced a head gasket issue. We almost aborted the trip and traveled back home, but remembered that Pastor James Ryan from the Lighthouse Mission In Bellport was praying for us. Pastor Jim, when special called, never misses with the man upstairs, so we continued on. We pulled in about an hour and a half after the convoy had arrived at Hagerstown, and attended the rally at the Hagerstown Speedway. Here we got to meet more of the truckers and organizers of “The People’s Convoy”. Beautiful people, can’t say enough about them! True blue American! The rally started off with the National Anthem, followed by a number of speakers. Mike, the lead organizer, who claimed not to like speaking in front of people gave an impressive speech! Mike definitely has a talent for speaking at a live event! Pastor Reyes followed with an impressive invocation. Pastor Reyes was followed by the very knowledgeable Dr Kory. The good doctor spoke for about 10 minutes. We retired back to our hotel room, and the following day visited our mother in Mariottsville Maryland on the 5th. Sunday morning, we met “The People’s Convoy” as they left the raceway. Boy oh boy, what a line of trucks. One more beautiful than the next! Definitely some pride in ownership with these Big Rigs. After falling in behind one of the Big Rigs we made our way to Route 70, and eventually to the DC Beltway. We completed two passes around. What an experience! Thousands of people lined the bridges and roadways. Many people appeared to just come out of the woods waving flags. It was an incredible sight. While we both witnessed this incredible turn out of Americans supporting “The People’s Convoy” we were always cognizant of why we were there. And that was to have the Covid Mandates completely rescinded. Shawn and I represented the forgotten 1500 plus FDNY brothers and sisters who faced termination for failure to receive an experimental vaccine, that they did not wish to take. Hopefully America can put this dark period in our history behind us. Maybe the answer lies in Ohio’s motto, “With God All Things are Possible”. With fluid loss being a constant problem in our truck we decided to head on home. We were making pretty good time, and doing periodic fluid checks, but once we hit the Georgia (Wisdom, Justice and Moderation) border we started to lose cooling fluid rapidly. Every 25 miles, we had to pull over and add a gallon of water. It was looking as if our truck was was not going to make it to Cape Coral, Florida (In God We Trust), so at 3:30am a special text was sent to Pastor Jim seeking back up. Things improved, and eventually halfway through Florida the leaking subsided and we made our final destination! It was a great trip, so glad we made it!! Hopefully it will make a difference.
