Tom Arrives With a Bird 🌲 03/31/23 12:45
Angel is on the nest when she spots Tom off-cam with prey. She leaves the nest, and Tom returns with a bird with Angel behind him. Angel fights Tom for the bird and as usual, wins the scuffle. She takes the bird from him, he leaves, then Angel departs with the bird. A minute later, Tom returns back to the nest to incubate the eggs.

Unnamed Mate- Male, 3+ years of age, Normal Coloration
Nest: 40 feet tall, 3 feet long x 1.5 feet wide, human-reinforced nest

Angel's Story (from cam link above):
Angel is a very rare Leucistic Red-Tailed Hawk. 2 years ago, Angel & Mohawk (no longer around) raised 3 chicks and they fledged successfully. Last year Angel chose a new mate and he was still a subadult. Since the new male was not fully mature, they did not have eggs last year. This year he has fully matured and their bond seems strong. Will post a view soon about the history of Angel and how we came to put in this very unique and rare camera.

Albert Visits His Eggs 🥚🥚🥚 03/30/23 20:16
Ellie leaves for her break and to our surprise, Albert shows up at the nest. The proud Papa goes to his eggs hooting and inspecting them. Ellie shows up behind him a minute later, clucking to let him know it's time to go so she can continue incubating the eggs. Albert then flies off, most likely to get Ellie some dinner, and Ellie settles back onto her eggs. These two are awesome parents. Not only do they show affection toward each other but also their owlets-to-be. As Ellie is seldom gone from the nest, sometimes only taking a break or two in a 24-hour time frame, and Albert shows his pride for his soon-to-hatch owlets by visiting them several times since they were laid. At this stage, the first laid egg would also be making tiny chirping sounds inside.
Left at 20:16 and Returned at 20:25.

Tom Brings a Peace Offering 🌲 03/30/23 09:57
After Angel and Tom have a scuffle on the nest over a Vole, he shows back up within a minute with a piece of pine, laying on top of Angel. Being a young male, you're bound to make a few mistakes, but we have seen Tom adapt to his role of incubating and even handing off prey without a fight. So, we know he will eventually come to accept all of the duties of a partnership his instincts have given him and fight the urges of being a lone Red-tailed Hawk...Eventually. 😊

Angel Pushes Tom Off The Eggs 🥚🥚 03/29/23 08:27
Angel is done with her break, but when she comes back to the nest, she finds a mate who does not want to switch with her to incubate the eggs. Tom is taking his role very seriously now so Angel gives him a bit of a push to let him know his turn is over. Tom does as she wants, then vacates the nest. Tom Masters His Duties 🌲 03/28/23 03:56
As this is Tom's first clutch of eggs, he has been a bit apprehensive about incubating for any length of time. Today, after he brings a sprig of pine to the nest, he waits for Angel to leave, then rolls the eggs and starts his incubating duties so his mate can have her break off of the nest. Tom is getting more comfortable with his new role and proving to be the mate Angel needs to raise the eyasses until they can fly and hunt on their own.

Angel and Tom's 2nd Egg Laid 🥚🥚 03/28/23 07:51
Last night, as it got dark, Angel laid her 2nd egg. This morning Tom brings her a Mole breakfast, and practices incubating the eggs for a minute while she gulps breakfast down. Then after he sits on the eggs one more time very briefly, he leaves and Angel resumes her incubation duties.

Stats (from cam link above):
Location- Tennessee (exact location cannot be given for her safety)
Angel - Female, 7+ years of age, Leucistic (White)
Unnamed Mate- Male, 3+ years of age, Normal Coloration
Nest: 40 feet tall, 3 feet long x 1.5 feet wide, human-reinforced nest
Cams: Above the nest is a tiny pinhole cam so we don't intrude into the small nest, this cam does not have IR (night vision). We have a long-range PTZ cam in a distant tree, with IR and Mic.

Male Eagle Owl Delivers Prey 🦉 03/27/23 19:19
The male Eagle Owl delivers what looks like to be a bird to his mate at the nest. How he does it, as she was not able to grab it, is one for the books. 😊

Young Tom Learning His Duties 🥚 03/27/23 08:46
Angel is ready for her break, so Tom must take her place incubating the egg. He's a bit apprehensive, but rolls the egg and does sit on it for a period of time. Getting up a few times to look for his mate, he continues to wait longer this time, going back to incubating the egg. Eventually, getting up and leaving the nest with Angel coming back to replace him. It still feels a bit uncomfortable to him, but his instincts are getting stronger and helping him to learn his role in starting a family.

Preening and Egg Peek 🥚 03/26/23 18:04
While the female Eagle Owl is preening, she stops briefly to call her mate, who is then heard answering her call off-cam. After she is done cleaning her massive foot, she gently taps the eggs so she knows where to put her foot down, rolls the eggs, then resettles back to her incubation duties before going back to sleep.

Angel and Tom Trade Places 🥚 03/26/23 07:43
Angel leaves to take her break when Tom comes to the nest to take his turn incubating the egg. As this is his first year as an adult, this is also his first year to produce eggs with Angel. He is still learning about his instincts. As they tell him it's his job to incubate too, it still does not feel comfortable to him, and even after trying several times, gives the egg a final roll with his foot on the way to vacating the nest. It will just take some time, but he will come to know his role and realize the weird feeling of incubating is just all part of producing a family.

Bo Brings Bubo a Mole 🦉 03/26/23 08:25
The male Eagle Owl flies to the nest carrying a mole but his mate hesitates in taking the prey due to the crows that have followed him there. He waits a moment then takes off to a nearby branch off-cam. The female is not ready to leave the nest as she does not find it safe to do so at this time.

Albert Delivers Twice 🦉 03/25/23 21:07
Albert shows up tonight with two meals for Ellie. The first is a mole, and the second delivery only 14 minutes later is a nice-sized rat. Ellie has been well fed and cared for by her awesome mate who always makes sure his lady eats her prey and is safe while doing so.
