(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
Tatuaje is giving its 10th Anniversary line a new limited edition Capa Especial variation, meaning it uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, while the binders and filler still come from Nicaragua.
The Tatuaje 10th Anniversary Capa Especial is being offered in two sizes:
Tatuaje 10th Anniversary Capa Especial Belle Encre (5 3/4 x 48) — $12 (Box of 20, $240) REVIEWED TODAY
Tatuaje 10th Anniversary Capa Especial Bon Chasseur (5 3/8 x 52) — $12 (Box of 20, $240)
Fans of the brand will recognize that these are the same two sizes and prices that Tatuaje released for the Tatuaje 10th Anniversary Tuxtla that was released in August 2023, as well as the same two sizes released when the Tatuaje 10th Anniversary debuted in 2013 as part of the company’s 10th anniversary. That original blend featured an Ecuadorian habano wrapper. The cigars are produced at My Father Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua, with production limited to 3,000 boxes of 20 cigars for each vitola.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
K by Karen Berger is now shipping boxes of K-Fire, a 6 x 52 box-pressed toro made up of a Mexican San Andrés wrapper covering a habano binder from Jalapa, Nicaragua and a filler blend of tobaccos grown in Nicaragua. The regular production cigars are being rolled at the company’s Estelí Cigars S.A. factory in Nicaragua and have an MSRP of $14.50 each, with 20-count boxes priced at $290.
According to the company, the name of the new release refers to the temperature of 150 degrees, which is the temperature that pilónes of tobacco—which typically weigh between 3,500 and 4,000 pounds—can reach while the tobacco is being processed.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
Fine Ash Cigars, a retail store in Glendale, Ariz., has launched its own cigar brand.
It’s called Ceniza Fina, Spanish for fine ash, and the first blend is being sold not only at the Glendale store but also to other retailers. That debut blend is Ceniza Fina Corojo, which uses an Ecuadorian corojo wrapper over a Mexican binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic—criollo 98, HVA, piloto cubano—and Jalapa, Nicaragua. Production is handled by Hostos Fernández Quesada’s TABACALERA LA iSLA in Santiago de los Caballeros, the Dominican Republic.
The Ceniza Fina Corojo is debuting in three sizes:
Ceniza Fina Corojo Corona Gorda (6 x 46) — $9.50 (Box of 20, $190)
Ceniza Fina Corojo Robusto (5 x 50) — $10 (Box of 20, $200)
Ceniza Fina Corojo Toro (6 x 50) — $10.50 (Box of 20, $210) REVIEWED TODAY
The initial production run is 15,000 cigars, divided evenly between the three sizes.
“We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Hostos on Ceniza Fina,” said Sam and Rosie Lopez, owners of Fine Ash and Ceniza Fina, in a press release. “This partnership is the result of our friendship and shared passion for exceptional cigars. We’ve always admired the quality and craftsmanship of Hostos blends and expertise in tobacco and cigar making. We are excited for the cigar community to be able to enjoy Ceniza Fina, as much as we do!”
Pospiech, Inc. is handling distribution.

(Description taken from Cigar-coop.com website)
Espinosa Premium Cigar has announced the Knuckle Sandwich 56. This is a limited edition cigar to commemorate the birthday of Knuckle Sandwich Cigars’ Guy Fieri. This is the second year in a row that a birthday cigar was released for Fieri.
The Knuckle Sandwich 56 features a San Andres wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers. The cigar comes in one size – a 6 x 56 Toro Oval (a box-press with an oval shape). The 56-ring gauge is a nod to the fact that it commemorates Fieri’s 56th birthday (which took place on Monday, January 22, 2024). The cigars come in ten-count boxes and are priced $16.00 SRP per cigar. Production comes from AJ Fernandez’s San Lotano factory in Ocotal, Nicaragua.
“Last year, we wanted to do something special for Guy’s birthday, so we produced this blend and made only 555 boxes as a token for Guy. We had no idea the impact this cigar was going to have. It immediately sold out, becoming one of our most coveted unicorn cigars ever, with customers still asking for it to this day. We always want to keep our customers happy, so we decided to continue the tradition.“

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2024/02/espinosa-sumatra-toro-6-x-54.html
(Description taken from Cigar-coop.com website)
Espinosa Cigars has announced the release of the Espinosa Sumatra. As the name indicates, it adds a Sumatra-wrapped offering to the company’s eponymous core line offering.
While Espinosa has worked with Sumatra before, this is the first Sumatra offering to come out of La Zona. The blend features an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler.
“This is just another example of us finding the right cigar to fill a void in our portfolio. It’s right in my wheelhouse, nutty but with the spice note I love,” commented Erik Espinosa in a press release.
The Espinosa Sumatra is being launched in three sizes:
Robusto, 5 x 52, 20-count boxes, MSRP $11.00 a cigar, $220.00 a box.
Toro, 6 x 54, 20-count boxes, MSRP $11.50 a cigar, $230.00 a box. REVIEWED TODAY
Gordo, 6 x 60, 20-count boxes, MSRP $12.00 a cigar, $240.00 a box.
“This is the first Sumatra blend made at La Zona, and unlike the Laranja Azulejo or the Knuckle Sandwich Maduro, this has its own distinct and unique flavor profile. This is a great cigar for us to start off 2024,” added Hector Alfonso, Director of Operations.
The Espinosa Sumatra joins the Espinosa Habano and Espinosa Crema as the company’s eponymous core line offerings.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
This marks the first release of the Viaje Zombie Green and Zombie Red since April 2022, when both were shipped without an announcement from the company. Those cigars used the same 5 x 52 perfecto vitola which the line adopted in 2013, with the MSRP set at $12.10 per cigar.
Viaje has not released details about this year’s releases, including price and blend details, but previous Zombie Green releases have used a criollo wrapper, while the Viaje Zombie Red meant the cigar uses a maduro wrapper. They appear to come in the same black, slide-lid, 20-count boxes as previous releases.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
The Viaje Farmer Bill Hatchet Holiday Edition is a more recent addition to the portfolio, debuting in 2021. Again, specifics about this year’s release have not been announced by the company, but it has previously been a 6 x 54 toro extra, and is offered in 25-count bundles that are presented in four different wrapping paper prints. The company has not disclosed anything about the blend, other than that it is a distinct blend from the other Farmer Bill Hatchet releases, which debuted in 2014 as an offshoot to the company’s Thanksgiving-themed Stuffed Turkey cigars. Since then, the line has grown to include a Zombie Farmer Bill Hatchet and a Mrs. Hatchet release.

The Don Patron comes in one size – a 6 x 52. As for the blend, it features an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over a three-year aged Ecuadorian binder and a combination of three-year aged Dominican and five-year aged Peruvian Pelo del Oro. Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2024/01/lampert-1593-edicion-oscura-6-x-52-toro.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
Currently, it’s offered in a single 6 x 52 toro size that uses a two-year-old Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a three-year-old Indonesian Sumatra binder and three-year-old fillers from the Dominican Republic. The cigars were rolled at the Ventura family’s El Maestro factory in the Dominican Republic and then aged of one year prior to being released.
The Lampert 1593 Edición Oscura Toro has an MSRP of $16 and is sold in boxes of 10 cigars. Lampert says it will add Robusto and Short Robusto sizes later this year.
While the cigars began heading out to most stores last week, three stores received the cigars last month: Humidor of Lisle (Lisle, Ill.), Matador Cigars (New York/Pennsylvania) and MAXAMAR Ultimate Cigars (Orange, Calif.)
Most of the Lampert 1593 Edición blends are produced at AgroIndustrial Nicaraguense de Tabacos S.A. in Nicaragua, but this is the second line to be made in the Dominican Republic. The Lampert 1593 Edición Blanca, which is expected to get an expanded release later this year, is made at Julián Sued & Compañía.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2024/01/lampert-1675-edicion-rojo-robusto-5-x-50.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website.)
Through the years, cigar brands have been founded in a large number of different counties before eventually becoming available for the U.S. market, from Germany to Mexico to Haiti.
One of the more interesting brand stories is that of Dr. Stefan Lampert, who launched his own cigar company in 2016 dubbed My Cigar Lab. Based in the country of Liechtenstein—a German-speaking country located between Austria and Switzerland—My Cigar Lab was founded on the belief “everyone should be able to customize its cigar according to his/her demands.”
However, it was not until May 2021 that Lampert’s creations made their U.S. debut under the appropriate name of Lampert Cigars. The first U.S. release for the company was the Lampert 1675 Edición AZUL, which was a three-vitola line made up of an Ecuadorian wrapper, Nicaragua binder and fillers tobaccos from Nicaragua and Peru.
A second line followed earlier this year, when the Lampert 1675 Edición Rojo debuted during TPE 2022. Blend-wise, the 1675 Edición Rojo incorporates an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper covering a Nicaraguan binder and four-year-old filler tobaccos sourced from both the Condega and Jalapa growing regions of Nicaragua.
There are currently three different vitolas in the Lampert 1675 Edición Rojo line, all of which are packaged in 20-count boxes:
Lampert 1675 Edición Rojo Short Robusto (3 3/4 x 52)
Lampert 1675 Edición Rojo Robusto (5 x 50) REVIEWED TODAY
Lampert 1675 Edición Rojo Toro (6 x 52)
As is the case with the company’s Lampert 1675 Edición Azul line, the 1675 Edición Rojo is being rolled at Omar Ortez’s AgroIndustrial Nicaraguense de Tabacos S.A. factory located in Condega, Nicaragua.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2024/01/supreme-leaf-perfecto-6-x-54.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
Most of the time, a cigar company will choose unique dimensions for each one of the sizes within a line. Every once in a while, there might be an instance when a particular blend is sold in a 6 x 52 toro and also a 6 x 52 torpedo, but even that is fairly rare.
AGANORSA Leaf has bucked the trend entirely by shipping the third different vitola in the Supreme Leaf line that measures 6 inches by 54 ring gauge.
The Supreme Leaf Perfecto (6 x 54) is the seventh vitola for the Supreme Leaf line, which is a Nicaraguan puro highlighted by a corojo 99 wrapper. Supreme Leaf debuted in 2020 and has been offered in various shapes, though all of them have been between 5 and 6 inches long and most have been 52 or 54 ring gauge.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2024/01/trinidad-espiritu-no-3-toro-6-x-54.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
When the Trinidad Espiritu debuted in 2019, Altadis U.S.A.—which sells the non-Cuban Trinidad brand in the U.S., said there would be three different blends as part of the series. That third blend is now shipping to stores.
The Trinidad Espiritu No. 3 uses a Mexican wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers. Like the Espiritu No. 1 and No. 2, the No. 3 is made at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua, with Abdel Fernández and Rafael Nodal, vp of Tabacalera USA, credited for creating the blend, which, according to the company, is described as medium-to-full-bodied in strength.
The new line is available in five regular production sizes:
Trinidad Espiritu No. 3 Robusto (5 x 50) — $11.13 (Box of 20, $222.60)
Trinidad Espiritu No. 3 Toro (6 x 54) — $12.08 (Box of 20, $241.60) REVIEWED TODAY
Trinidad Espiritu No. 3 Magnum (6 x 60) — $12.68 (Box of 20, $253.60)
Trinidad Espiritu No. 3 Panetela (7 1/2 x 40) — $12.50 (Box of 20, $250)
Trinidad Espiritu No. 3 Belicoso (6 1/8 x 52) — $12.61 (Box of 20, $252.20)
“The Trinidad Espiritu Series No. 3 is a sensory experience like no other,” said Nodal in a press release. “With a blend of the finest tobaccos – including the Habano San Andres wrapper – and carefully selected regions, these soft-pressed cigars boast a complex yet subtle profile with earthy notes, light coffee, anise, and the right amount of spice in the finish.”

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2024/01/las-6-provincias-zdt-6-12-x-48-short.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
The fifth installment in Espinosa Premium Cigars’ Las 6 Provincias line, ZDT, which honors the province of Pinar del Río on the western end of the island, has shipped to retailers.
The acronym in the cigar’s name stands for Zona de Tabaco, a reference to Pinar de Río being the province where premium cigar tobacco is grown in Cuba. The blend, however is all-Nicaraguan, featuring a corojo wrapper atop a Nicaraguan binder and fillers, which gets presented in a 6 1/2 x 48 short Churchill vitola. The cigars are being produced at the San Lotano Factory in Ocotal, Nicaragua.
As with other Las 6 Provinicias releases, the packaging is more dressed-up than a traditional cigar box, as the cigars come in a ceramic jar that features artwork by Edin Gutierrez, who created artistic renderings of the cigar-making process.
“This is really a passion project for me, my son, and the team; we have been creative with this project since the beginning,” said Erik Espinosa in a press release. “This year’s project is simply beautiful.”
Espinosa Premium Cigars launched the Las 6 Provincias line in 2018 as a way to pay tribute to the original six provinces of Cuba through art and cigars. Thus far, the provinces of La Habana, Matanzas, Las Villas and Camagüey have been honored, seemingly making Oriente, on the eastern end of the island, the sixth installment in the line.
The Las 6 Provincias ZDT is priced at $18 per cigar and $360 for the 20-count ceramic jar.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/12/best-cigars-of-2023-new-releases.html
As 2023 comes to a close I am listing the best 30 cigars of 2023. I concentrate on new releases. It does not matter if it's a new vitola in an existing cigar. As long as it was a new release it's eligible. Some of these were released late in 2022 so I carried them over to this year. All these cigars were reviewed in 2023. In total I reviewed 131 cigars.
The list is comprised of cigars with scores of 94 or above. Not every cigar that scored a 94 made the list. If they didn't they barely missed it but they are still worthy of a 94 score.
The complete list of every cigar reviewed this year follows the Top 30 list with scores shown in thirds along with the date reviewed.

Perdomo 30th Anniversary Sun Grown Epicure

To help keep these reviews going please donate using PayPal and send your donation to ticotych@hotmail.com, or go to the blog and use the link in the sidebar. (Use the web version of the blog)
Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/12/perdomo-30th-anniversary-box-pressed_17.html
(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)
Perdomo has begun shipping its trio of 30th Anniversary cigars to a select group of retailers, debuting the lines with about 75 retailers across the country before likely expanding it to more stores in the future. A company representative told halfwheel that the cigars are set to arrive at those retailers this Friday, Nov. 17.
The cigars made their debut at the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show this past July in celebration of Nick and Janine Perdomo marking three decades in the cigar business, a milestone that was reached in 2022. What is now known as Perdomo Cigars dates back to August 1992 and an upstart cigar operation called Nick’s Cigar Co., based out of Miami. In those three-plus decades, the company was renamed to Perdomo Cigars and built an impressive factory in Nicaragua that not only produces cigars but makes its own boxes. The company also grows a significant amount of the tobacco used in its cigars.
Nick Perdomo Jr. previously said that the 30th Anniversary “encapsulates not only the essence of our team’s dedication to the finest quality and craftsmanship, but it also represents our longstanding commitment to our cherished patrons.”
As with many Perdomo lines, the 30th Anniversary is being released in three blend options, one using an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, another using a Nicaraguan maduro wrapper, and the third using a Nicaraguan sungrown leaf. All three use a Nicaraguan binder and filler and are offered in five sizes.
Rounding out the trio is the Perdomo 30th Anniversary Box-Pressed Sun Grown, with its sungrown wrapper helping to give the blend “a rich, spicy complexity with slight hints of oak and almond on the finish,” according to a press release.

The Nicaraguan maduro leaf used on the Perdomo 30th Anniversary Box-Pressed Maduro gives this version a “bold, sweet complexity with slight hints of dark cocoa and coffee on the finish,” according to the company.

Blog post of review: https://tinytimblog.blogspot.com/2023/12/foundation-metapa-claro-robusto-5-x-50.html
(Description taken from Cigar-coop.com website)
At the 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Foundation Cigar Company launched Metapa. This is a two-blend line that pays homage to renowned Nicaragua poet Rubén Darío. This is the first widespread release by Foundation to feature a Sumatra wrapper.
Metapa is the birthplace in Nicaragua of Darío. Today Metapa is known as Ciudad Dario. The name “Metapa” is derived from the Nahuatl word “metl,” which means “place of magueys (a type of agave plant).” The maguey plant has significant cultural and religious symbolism in Central American mythology and art. This was used often in Dario’s poems.
“Metapa is a tribute to the poetic soul of Nicaragua,” said Nicholas Melillo, founder, and Master Blender of Foundation Cigar Company. “The image of Rubén Darío is iconic; he is considered one of the greatest poets in the Spanish language. I have always wanted to make a brand in his honor, and I have always wanted to introduce a blend around Sumatra Ecuador wrapper. Metapa is the result.”
Like 2022’s Olmec release, Metapa is being released in a Claro and Maduro Ecuadorian Sumatra. The remainder of the blend features a Connecticut Broadleaf binder and fillers from Nicaragua. The cigar is available in the same four sizes for both the Claro and Maduro blends: Corona Gorda (SRP $14.50/cigar), Robusto (SRP $15.50/cigar), Toro (SRP $16.50/cigar), and Double Corona (SRP $18.00). AJ Fernandez is handling production.
This blend is unique and unlike anything I have ever created,” says Melillo. “The CT Broadleaf binder adds a bit of sweetness, Nicaragua filler the body and strength, and the wrapper is the icing on the cake.”
