One week ago, Angie LaBorde from the Squishy Guitar Project put out a call for 100 guitarists to help give a morale boost to Aiden Garcia, a boy with a medical condition called aplastic anemia. Her idea was to create a video montage of guitar players showing their support. Thanks to the help of YouTube channels like Phillip McKnight, CGS, and others, the goal was SMASHED! By the time of the deadline, over 150 guitarists had responded with videos of support. Aiden recently had a bone marrow transplant at a children's hospital in Houston, Texas and will have to remain in quarantine for 100 days while he recovers from surgery. With help from Eddie Curnan, The Squishy Guitar Project will present Aiden a customized guitar, along with this video montage from members of the guitar community across the globe. In this video, we'll ask the eternal question - which bridge pins should I use on my vintage acoustic guitar? In this case, we're choosing between bone with abalone and rosewood with mother of pearl. In this video, we'll do some setup and repairs on a very rare guitar that some accounts claim was Jimi Hendrix's favorite at the time of his death. This is a 1973 Acoustic Control Corp. Black Widow Guitar by Mosrite. Only about 200 of this type exist according to sources, so this will be a rare in-depth look at the Hendrix Signature Model that never was. We'll share the amusing story told by Harvey Gerst, the guitarist for the band Sweetwater, to Tape Op Magazine about how Jimi essentially STOLE his Black Widow and gave him one of his first 4 Fender Strats in exchange. Along the way we'll look at how NOT to set up your zero fret nut, and also how NOT to wire up your guitar. And we will show how to use a common aluminum cupcake pan to shield a guitar cavity. The Skydeck is 1353ft above the ground, making it the highest observation deck in the United States. In his video, he defends Blackstar Amplification from detractors and attempts to debunk some of the common misconceptions surrounding the much maligned amp company. Problem is, he misses the REAL REASON to avoid Blackstar Amps like the plague that they are. This reason does not stop at just Blackstar either. There are lots of newer amps from even otherwise trustworthy amp manufacturers you should avoid. Knowing which is which can be hard to figure out on your own, so here are some general pointers.
