Pali Highway reopens in both directions
Windward Oahu residents welcomed the Sunday 1 p.m. opening of Pali Highway in both directions for the first time since a February rockslide closed the popular road.
The Pali is now open in both directions from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays through Fridays. The highway will remain closed on Saturdays through early November to allow further repairs to be completed.

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating witnesses who may have cell phone video of an Aug. 4 brawl in front of a Waikiki bar that ultimately resulted in the death of a 31-year-old man.
Police said that Leroy Calleon died Thursday from injuries sustained in the fight that occurred at about 1:08 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4.
Calleon and a 27-year-old man, Marcel Woods, were involved in the affray on the sidewalk fronting Moose McGillicuddy’s Bar. Woods was caught on surveillance video striking Calleon, causing him to fall and hit his head on the roadway.

Woman dies after driving into Honolulu lagoon
A 62-year-old female driver has died after driving her Mercedes into the lagoon this afternoon in Hawaii Kai, police said.
At about 12:12 p.m. today, the woman was traveling southbound on Opoi Street at Mariner’s Cove, when for unknown reasons, she failed to stop and ended up in the lagoon at Niumalu Loop.
Emergency Medical Services treated and transported her to the hospital in critical condition. Police say the woman later succumbed to her injuries, and died.
