NEW FISKER OCEAN EXTERIOR 2023 #fisker #ocean #new_car
NEW FISKER OCEAN EXTERIOR 2023 #fisker #ocean #new_car
The Fisker Ocean is not just another EV SUV. Some real thought and care has gone into its design and manufacture to make it one of the cleverest and most sustainable cars on the road. It’ll easy to own, if not the most rewarding to drive, with the usual caveat of waiting to see how the firm ride translates onto UK roads. That probably won’t matter to most owners who’ll love the long range, style, space, quality and tech. We suspect that the Sport model, with its lower price and fatter tyres, could become a real favourite and maybe even grab itself an extra half star.
Of the numerous start-ups aiming for your attention (and cash) in the electric vehicle space, Fisker is different. In fact, you might not call it a start-up at all given this is boss Henrik Fisker’s second attempt at a car company.
Henrik Fisker proudly told us that he wants the Ocean to be “the world’s most sustainable car,” producing impressive and believable stats to back that up. Magna builds the car in a ‘carbon net zero plant’, while the thinking that’s gone into every element of design and production to ensure all aspects of the car – and every one of the company’s suppliers – is as sustainable as possible is impressive. This is truly a vegan-friendly car; leather isn’t an option.
Fisker’s first car had to be an SUV, according to Fisker – demand from the world’s car buyers couldn’t lead to anything else. But with his sports car background, this is an SUV with attitude – and that comes across in the innovative styling and clever design features.
That opening sunroof on our top-spec (other than the limited Ocean One launch edition) Extreme car has a solar panel integrated into it – a nod to Fisker’s Karma a decade or so ago. It might not have the same effect in the UK, but in places like California or Arizona where the sun actually shines, Fisker claims that it can add up to 1,500 miles-worth of charge every year. In the UK, it might add a tiny bit of power when the car’s been standing, rather than losing a tiny bit.
But the version we’re really looking forward to driving is the Sport model that does without some of the most advanced tech – it ‘just’ gets a full-length panoramic roof with no solar panel and no fancy swivelling screen, for example – but it looks the same (but with 20-inch wheels), gets pretty much the same quality inside and costs just 35,970. Sure, it’s only two-wheel drive and gets a smaller, lower-tech 80kWh (usable capacity) battery that delivers a claimed range of 273 miles, but for the quality, space and tech that offers – and for the premium look and feel – that’s a sensational price.
The Extreme model still stacks up pretty well, but the best-seller is likely to be the £49,880 Ultra car, which does without a few things like the Solar Sky roof. But like the Extreme it gets a huge 105kWh battery that gives the Ocean an impressive claimed range of up to 440 miles. And, of course, performance is impressive, too – in Boost mode, the car will get from 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds.
If the quality of the exterior impresses – as it should with its makers Magna also counting Mercedes and BMW as clients – swinging open the door reveals a clean-looking, comfortable and high-quality interior. Hidden vents sit across the dash, with their direction controlled via the generous 17.3-inch touchscreen, but there is a row of physical buttons beneath the screen to control temperature, demisting and audio volume. Sustainable fabric across the dash warms things up, and a thin, metallic-effect strip running the width of the dash adds to the posh feel.
As well as the large touchscreen, which rotates into ‘Hollywood mode’ and comes with video streaming apps to let you watch a movie while charging, there’s a slim display in front of the driver. There’s currently no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, though.
To be fair to Fisker, the user experience of the touchscreen is a good one, again with some simple clever thinking.
We liked the audio system, too – our car got the Fisker Pulse system powered by ELS Studio 3D with plenty of power but without losing too much detail. It’ll be a good match for the screen in Hollywood mode and a blockbuster movie – or part of one – while you’re sat charging and eating your Taco.
The seats are another innovation with as few seams as possible, while the plastics around the cabin – which all feel good – have been moulded in a way that makes them as sustainable as possible.
That range claim will be a real draw for buyers and efficiency on our long test route in Austria where the Ocean is built was good. After the best part of a day’s mixed driving on twisty roads, long stretches, around the city of Vienna and at Autobahn speeds, we still had over half of the original range left – around 400km (240 miles). Impressive stuff.

NEW HYUNDAI SONATA EXTERIOR 2024 #hyundai #sonata #2024
NEW HYUNDAI SONATA EXTERIOR 2024 #hyundai #sonata #2024
Hyundai redesigned the Sonata midsized sedan for 2024. We’ve seen the pictures of the Tron-like exterior, and we now know that it will have several potent engine choices. But, the Sonata is Hyundai’s only midsized sedan competitor in a tight market, and it doesn’t sell well. If it wants to dethrone the top three sellers, the Toyota Camry the Tesla Model 3 and the Honda Accord, it has to do better than the current car.
The midsized sedan world is packed with great cars. If you ask someone to name a car, they’ll likely name one of the top cars on the list. But, according to car sales tracking firm Car Sales Base, the Sonata is only the 8th best-selling midsize sedan.
With the new 2024 Hyundai Sonata, the Korean firm is aiming to become a sales leader. With current Sonata sales dragging down its numbers, something had to be done.
Just by looking at the numbers you can see that Hyundai had to do something. And, it’s clear that Hyudai could do better than the current model. That current car is, well, old. It’s remained essentially the same since 2014. While it’s not a bad car, others have moved on. Hyundai tried to update the styling in 2017 with a giant catfish like maw. Sure, it sets the car apart, but that was a bit of a, we’ll say, bold stying choice.
However, when the current 2014-2023 Sonata debuted, it was a huge step forward for the company. It was the first midsize sedan from the company that could actually take on an Accord or a Camry in a comparison test. Sure, it didn’t often finish first. Clearly, the Accord was its bogey and it came with a similar 185-horsepower motor that was also efficient, it seats five, and it had a modern look to it. But, it cost about $8,000 less than a comparable Accord.
Today, the new Sonata will face an even better Accord and Camry. The Honda Accord was redesigned for 2023 as it enters its 11th generation. It gets a more powerful 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and a new interior with a 12.3-inch screen. The Camry, too, is newer than the current Sonata, as it was redesigned for 2017. It, too, has a large screen, comfy cabin, and an option 3.5-liter V6 with 305 horsepower that makes it seriously quick.
The Sonata will have to contend with those two, as well as the aging Altima and Malibu. The new car will have to set a standard, not just play follow the leader. The new-for-2024 Sonata has all new styling that gives it a definite Tesla vibe. The interior has a very BMW-like wraparound screen, and an interior that the designers at Genesis (a sister company) probably had a hand in.
But, Hyundai says that the new car has a stiffer frame and lots of sound-deadening material to quiet the cabin. On the engine front, the N Line version is the one to get, with its 290-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder. Regardless, the new car will have to be better in every way to compete with the best from Toyota and Honda, and so far it looks like it could be more than just a contender.

NEW 2024 FORD EXPLORER ST-LINE #ford #explorer
NEW 2024 FORD EXPLORER ST-LINE INTERIOR REFRESH FULLY REVEALED #ford #explorer #car_2024
Until recently, any type of information about the 2024 Ford Explorer was extremely limited. That’s beginning to change, as Ford Authority has been detailing what our photographers have spotted and also explaining what sources have told us about the vehicle, including the fact that the three-row will boast a larger infotainment screen as standard equipment. Now, photographers were able to take some quality shots of a 2024 Ford Explorer ST-Line, and one solid shot of its interior, showing off a revised center stack and dashboard.
While this latest 2024 Ford Explorer sighting also gave us a great look at its exterior, it’s the first time we’re seeing the cabin completely uncovered. For starters, there’s the landscape-oriented infotainment screen atop the center stack, clearly larger than the eight-inch Sync 3 unit in the 2023 model. The center HVAC vents have been relocated below the touchscreen, and below that is the audio power and volume knob, flanked by a row of buttons. Those buttons appear to be for essential items like emergency flashers, traction control activation/deactivation and auto start/stop deactivation, among other things. There are no other buttons on the center stack, which practically guarantees HVAC and audio controls have migrated to the touchscreen. At this point, it is unclear if the new touchscreen will utilize Sync 4 or the upcoming system developed by Google.
There is also a new center storage cubby below the aforementioned controls, which could be the location of the wireless charging pad on certain models. Currently, the wireless charging pad is located underneath the center console lid, behind the cupholders, but that area appears to now be home to storage, complete with a removable rubber floor. The dash has also been redesigned, with the material flanking the touchscreen looking awfully similar to the fabric-covered speaker array setup featured on Ford Mustang Mach-E models with the B&O premium sound system. The interior door panel also looks slightly different than the current design, and the front seats feature a different pattern than the 2023 ST-Line as well.
That said, it seems other areas were left nearly untouched, like the center stack below the new storage area, save for a slightly redesigned cupholder assembly. The steering wheel and center console lid appear unchanged, as does the driver’s instrument cluster, along with its housing.
This shot gives us our clearest look yet at the changes coming to the 2024 Ford Explorer liftgate and rear end. Both taillights will now be connected visually with a horizontal strip that contains LED signature lighting that also appears to light up during braking as well. It also appears that one of the two vertical segments within the rear taillamps will also be utilized for brake lights. Overall, this is an aesthetic that mimics, but does not completely copy, the refreshed Explorer already on sale in China.
Last but certainly not least is a clear shot of the 2024 Ford Explorer ST-Line front end. This is less of a mystery, as previous sightings have already outlined the changes for this particular section. That includes a new design for the headlamp assemblies, a new grille, and a revised lower fascia. And based on what we’re seeing here, it looks like the company is planning on adding a light blue paint option for 2024, which might be welcome for buyers, as Stone Blue – the only blue currently available – is quite dark.

NEW LEXUS GX 550 GX DROPS 2024 #lexus #lexus_GX
NEW LEXUS GX 550 GX DROPS 2024 #lexus #lexus_GX #car #car_2024 #lexus_gx #
The 2024 Lexus GX 550 changes up the alphanumeric name and drops the 4.6-liter V8.
Under hood is a 3.4-liter turbocharged V6 that makes 349 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The ‘24 Lexus GX also adds the Overtrail model to the lineup, with a locking rear differential and 33-inch tires.
The current Lexus GX SUV made its debut back in 2009. If you haven’t been keeping track, a lot has changed since then. To put it into perspective, the full-size SUV arrived some months after the iPhone 3GS hit shelves. Well, the folks at Lexus are finally putting the solid-selling GX out to pasture and are shaking things up with the third generation. As we predicted, the latest GX shares parts, pieces, and trends seen with the most recent Toyota and Lexus body-on-frame vehicles. That means V8s are out, and big screens are in.
Yes, there’s some unfortunate news. Replacing the 4.6-liter V8 is a turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 (the only available powertrain), which throws 349 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque at the standard 10-speed automatic. Those figures are both improvements over the V8, which made 301 hp and 329 lb-ft of torque.
While a similar powertrain in the Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX 600 gets a hybrid variant, the GX does not—at least, not at launch. Still, Lexus says the United States will get a hybrid variant down the line. This power heads to the standard, full-time four-wheel-drive system, which is distributed through an electronically controlled transfer case.
The ‘24 Lexus GX also rides on a new platform—at least it’s new for the GX. The same TNGA-F architecture underpins the Lexus LX 600 and Toyota Sequoia. This means a ladder frame, with double wishbone suspension handling the front wheels and a multi-link suspension taking care of the rear axle. That rear axle gets an electronic locker in certain trims, suggesting the GX will have real off-road chops. With the new platform also comes electric power steering.
Alongside the engine shakeup, the squared-up sheetmetal is all-new for ‘24, and the grille is smaller than before. The front end is accented by thin LED headlamps that Lexus has kept high to help avoid any damage off-road.
As vehicles often do with generational shifts, the ‘24 GX is larger than the outgoing model. It’s longer than the current model by 2.75 inches (197.04 inches overall), while the wheelbase has been stretched by 2.36 inches (to 112.2 inches). The new GX is 83.22 inches wide with the mirrors out and is about 3 inches shorter than the LX 600, for context.
The fully revised styling is echoed on the GX 550’s interior. Like the LX 600, the GX now gets a massive touchscreen infotainment system in the middle of the dash, which is flanked by a digital instrument cluster. The 14-inch touchscreen system and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster are both standard.
Lexus sticks with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto compatibility, and physical buttons for the climate control and audio volume, despite the big touchscreen. The stretched shell and longer wheelbase should make passengers in the standard third row slightly more comfortable.
With creature comforts even more in demand than ever, the folks at Lexus stuffed the cabin with up to 12 cupholders, six illuminated USB-C charge ports, and more interior storage than the outgoing model. The rear cargo area can fit up to five suitcases with the third row folded down.
Lexus will offer the GX with six trim levels, starting at Premium and topping out at Luxury Plus. In between those, you’ll find a plus variant of the Premium offering and the new Overtrail and Overtrail Plus variants. These new trims come standard with 33-inch tires wrapping 18-inch rims, a locking rear differential, and a wider stance than the standard GX.
Lexus says these ‘24 GX models will start hitting dealers early in 2024, with production slated for the Tahara plant in Japan. The company hasn’t revealed pricing, but you can assume the GX’s current $59,775 base price is going away. We’re expecting a sizable rise in the GX’s price.
Do you think the ‘24 Lexus GX 550 will improve on the current model? Tell us your thoughts below.

PININFARINA BATTISTA 2023
Design house-turned-carmaker Pininfarina took a trip to the heritage well to create its latest limited-edition model. Named after Giuseppe Farina, the first Formula One champion, the Battista Edizione Nino Farina stands out with several edition-specific styling cues inside and out.
Giuseppe "Nino" Farina's ties to the Italian automotive industry aren't limited to winning the first Formula One Driver's Championship in 1950. He's also the nephew of Battista "Pinin" Farina, who founded the design house that bears his name. Pininfarina honored the driver by giving the Battista edition-specific Rosso Nino paint with contrasting Bianco Sestriere and Iconica Blu accents, wheels finished in Glorioso Gold, and "01" graphics on both sides. The Furiosa Pack, which adds carbon fiber exterior trim pieces, comes standard.
The interior is characterized by a two-tone design. The driver's seat is upholstered in black leather and has the "01" logo embroidered into the headrest. The passenger's seat gets beige leather and the Pininfarina logo embroidered into the headrest. Production is limited to five examples, and each one will receive a specific aluminum door sill plate engraved with a date that commemorates Farina's life and career; 1906 celebrates the year he was born, for example, and 1950 corresponds to the year he won the Formula One Driver's Championship.
Mechanically, the Edizione Nino Farina is identical to the regular Battista, and that's not necessarily a bad thing; few could argue that it needs a higher output. Power comes from four electric motors (one per wheel) that jointly develop 1,900 horsepower and 1,726 pound-feet of torque. The company quotes a zero-to-62-mph time of 1.86 seconds, a top speed of 217 mph, and up to 300 miles of driving range.
Pininfarina will present the Battista Edizione Nino Farina at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed that opens in England on July 13. Pricing information hasn't been announced, but keep in mind that the standard Battista (which is limited to 150 units) starts at about $2.2 million.

MASERATI GRANTURISMO FOLGORE 2024 #maserati #granturismo #car_2024 #electric #sports_cars
Maserati GranTurismo Folgore
The fratelli Maserati got their automotive start building 2.0-liter grand prix racers for Diatto while overseeing their own spark-plug-manufacturing business. In 1926, when Diatto suspended racing operations, the brothers started building highly successful Maserati race cars. To improve profits and ensure funding for their racing efforts, the brothers set about adapting their winning 1.5-liter racing engine and chassis for road use in 1941, with the resulting A6 1500 Gran Turismo appearing in 1947. Today, circumstances are again forcing Maserati down a new path—this time toward electrification—and the brand will again incorporate motorsports tech on its first production EV. Fittingly, it will again be a grand tourer. But rather than adapting a race car for road use, this time Maserati co-developed an all-new Formula E race car alongside the 2024 GranTurismo Folgore.
The racer will run in the ninth e-Prix season in early 2023. The road car arrives later in the year, and we just got an exclusive opportunity to test it out on Maserati's home track—Autodromo di Modena.
The heart of any racing or performance car is its powertrain, and just as motorsports has always done for combustion engines, Formula E racing development is unlocking new ways to maximize power and minimize energy use. The solutions aren't always cheap, but big racing budgets and luxury grand-tourer sticker prices can help incubate innovation. The 2024 Maserati GranTurismo Folgore employs three motors, designed and built by Maserati. Each arrays 100 permanent magnets in intricate vee formations within the rotors. Note: These are traditional barrel-shaped radial-flux motors, not the pancake-style axial-flux type; none can be declutched, so they're always powered, and all those magnets make these motors too pricey for mainstream Maserati EVs like the forthcoming Grecale Folgore SUV.
To achieve the same low seating position and leg environment found in the Nettuno V-6-powered GranTurismo (which changes little relative to the previous model), the battery pack fills the center tunnel, expanding into the engine compartment in front and the area beneath the rear seats in back. Pouch-style batteries comprise 32 modules to form the pack, which is built at Maserati's Mirafiori factory near Turin. Total capacity is 92.5 kWh, 88.0 of which are usable. The 800-volt pack can be DC fast-charged at 270 kW, taking the battery from 20 to 80 percent in 18 minutes. Level 2 AC charging can be as fast as 22 kW with a 100-amp L2 charger, and an upgrade to 300- or 350-kW fast-charging is anticipated.
Each motor gets its own power inverter (to convert DC battery power to AC motor power or vice versa), and Maserati says it will be first to production with these more efficient, costlier Formula E-derived silicon-carbide MOSFET inverters. They play a key role in delivering both the GranTurismo's power and its comparative efficiency.
All those permanent magnets can handle a lot of electromagnetism to deliver stout torque over a wide rpm range. Each motor can deliver 402 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque to the road. But the battery can only deliver 751 hp total, and then only for 30 seconds of continuous full power. (Note that the system can recover a total of 818-hp worth of regen braking.) And although the EPA has yet to get its hands on a 2024 Maserati GranTurismo Folgore for testing, the manufacturer expects a 250-mile rating—impressive given the car's size, long-legged gearing, and lack of a disconnect mechanism for highway cruising (which aren't a thing in racing).

AUDI E-TRON GT
Electrons, motors, battery packs, and kilowatts have added a host of new words to the automotive lexicon, but when it comes to the Audi e-tron GT EV, the vocabulary is simple: this thing is fun! A platform-mate to the impressive Porsche Taycan, the e-tron GT delivers a calm ride and frenetic acceleration. With a motor at each axle, the combined output starts at 522 horsepower and rises to as much as 637 in the most powerful RS e-tron GT model. We managed 240 miles of highway range with the RS e-tron GT during testing, which isn't brag-worthy in a segment that contains the Tesla Model S. The e-Tron GT does offer some compensation for its merely average range thanks to its 270-kW DC fast charger, which makes it one of the quickest charging EVs sold today. Its standard interior is made from recycled leather-free materials but its low roof and narrow cockpit make getting in and out a challenge for rear-seat riders. Audi's quickest EV is exciting to drive and great to look at but EVs with more range like the Tesla Model S make a better argument for living with all-electric transportation.
Audi makes a few visual and quality-of-life improvements for the 2023 Audi e-tron GT. The revised grille is now painted to match the body color. A second charging port is standard, located on the passenger side of the car. Every e-tron GT now comes with anti-theft wheel bolts, an integrated toll module for the rearview mirror, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, and 20-inch wheel with all-season tires. The E-tron GT Prestige gets a new optional 21-inch 10-spoke wheel package that replaces the previously available gray finish wheels. The e-tron GT Performance package now includes the previously standard 20-inch wheels wrapped in summer tires. The Executive equipment package now combines the LED interior lighting plus package with heated rear seats. Additionally, the RS e-tron GT gets standard carbon matte inlays on the exterior, and a new Ceramic Brake package with Anthracite brake calipers and 21-inch wheels. Finally, Audi has produced just 75 of the project_512/2 special edition e-tron GT cars. As the original internal code name for the production e-tron GT, the project_513/2 is wrapped in striped camoflauge that's meant to look make it appear as a prototype model. This special edition is exclusive to the United States, has 637-hp, and will be sold beginning in spring 2023 at a whopping $181,990.
Packing a pair of electric motors that create an electrified version of Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system, the regular e-tron GT generates up to 522 horsepower while the RS version peaks at 637 ponies. This power is converted to exhilarating acceleration with the help of its innovative two-speed transmission, which has a first gear for launches and a second top gear for optimal efficiency. A complex cooling system means its battery pack can handle repeated runs without the typical signs of heat-related degradation. Audi also eschews traditional one-pedal driving on its sporty EV, instead, providing a more natural feel. The e-tron GT is available with all-wheel steering, an adjustable air suspension, and wheel sizes that range from 19 up to 21 inches. We've driven the RS version and appreciated its smooth ride, stable handling, and its selectable regenerative-braking settings, which can be adjusted via the paddles on the steering wheel. In our testing, the RS e-tron GT blasted to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds while the less powerful e-tron GT did the deed in 3.6 seconds.
Every e-tron GT features an 83.7-kWh lithium-ion battery. The regular model gets an EPA-estimated 238 miles of range, but the RS model is rated slightly lower at 232 miles. The e-tron GT can also be recharged from 5 to 80 percent of its battery capacity in a claimed 23 minutes using the standard 270-kW DC fast charger. In our testing, both the e-tron GT and the RS e-tron GT beat their respective range estimates as we observed the same 240 miles of range for each car. Even with this result though, the e-tron GT's driving range is short of rivals such as the Model S and the Lucid Air.
The 2023 e-tron GT is rated at 82 MPGe combined; the RS version falls one short of that mark. On our 75-mph fuel-economy route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen, the RS model delivered 83 MPGe. For more information about the e-tron GT's efficiency ratings, visit the EPA's website.

DODGE ELECTRIC MUSCLE CAR 2024
DODGE, ELECTRIC MUSCLE CAR 2023-2024
Dodge, famous for offering cars with big and powerful V8 engines, is phasing out some of its iconic, gas-powered muscle cars in favor of electric power. To ease fans into this new era, the company has opted to mimic some muscle car sensations — including shifting gears and a loud exhaust — in an electric concept car it unveiled on Wednesday.
It’s part of an overall shift from Dodge, the American performance car division of Stellantis, towards electrified vehicles. The brand’s current gas-powered muscle cars, the Charger and Challenger, end production next year. The concept muscle car, called the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT, resembles a model that will go on sale 2024, according to executives. It will join a new small SUV called the Hornet that will be available as a plug-in hybrid and is set to go on sale later this year.
The Charger Daytona has exhaust pipes that make noise and a transmission that shifts gears. None of that is necessary in an electric car, of course, but Dodge assumes its target customer isn’t looking for what’s strictly needed. These customers are looking for excitement, Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis said, which requires more than just fast acceleration.
“We think we’re going to bring a car to market that customers didn’t see coming,” he said. “But they’re definitely going to hear this one coming.”
The Charger Daytona makes low, loud thrumming tones that sounds a bit like high-voltage electrical equipment. The sounds aren’t produced by speakers, like the sounds from most electric cars, but by air pulses forced through pipes with baffles and chambers inside.
The air pulses vary in speed and force depending on how fast the car is going and how hard the accelerator is pressed, much like the air pulses created by an internal combustion engine. The sounds it produces can be up 126 decibels, according to Dodge. That’s about the level at which the ears begin to hurt and well above levels at which sustained exposure can cause hearing loss, according to the National Hearing Conservation Association.
Unlike most electric cars, the Charger Daytona has a transmission with more than just one or two speeds. Most electric cars have only a one-speed transmission because, unlike gasoline engines, electric motors provide their full pulling power at even very low speeds and keep providing that power up through very high rotating speeds. Gas engines, by contrast, have a relatively narrow band of operating speeds at which they can provide full power so it’s necessary to have a transmission with different gears to keep the engine within that “power band” as the car moves slower and faster.
The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT concept car's front end includes a hidden wing, hidden in this view, that allows air to pass through for improved aerodyamics.
Courtesy Stellantis
But Dodge designers and engineers felt electric car drivers might miss the sounds and sensations of a transmission shifting, so, even though it’s not really needed, the Charger Daytona has a multi-speed transmission. Kuniskis would not say how many gears the transmission has. The gas powered 717-horsepower Dodge Challenger Hellcat has an eight-speed transmission. Classic Dodge Charger muscle cars, like the ones the EV is modeled on, had three- or four-speed transmissions.
Dodge hasn’t yet announced how much power the all-wheel-drive car’s electric motors will produce, though the company promised that it will be faster than the Dodge Challenger Hellcat “in all key performance measures.” The supercharged Hellcat, a gasoline-powered rear-wheel-drive car, can go from a stop to 60 miles an hour in 3.7 seconds, according to Car and Driver.
With its narrow rectangular nose and dark color, the Charger Daytona EV resembles a late 1968 Charger. In its dark paint color, it looks a good bit like the Dodge Charger used in a famous chase scene in the movie “Bullitt,” the one that chases – and gets chased by – Steve McQueen’s Ford Mustang.
The front of the Charger Daytona EV hides a wing that runs just above the “grille.” The wing allows air to pass underneath it, improving the car’s aerodynamic efficiency. Air vents cut in the sides at the front and rear of the vehicle also help to improve the aerodynamics of the generally squared-off body.
Dodge has not said how much the production version of the car might cost when it goes on sale.

Now in its third year of production, the hot-selling five-passenger Mustang Mach-E crossover ute continues to be a star in Ford’s push towards a full lineup of electric trucks and utility vehicles. The Mach-E is targeted to consumers who want a balance between utility, performance and style, to which the Mach-E delivers. The only thing slowing the electric pony down is Ford, like other manufacturers, simply can’t meet demand for the Mach-E (or its popular F-150 Lightning electric pickup) due to continuing supply chain issues. Browse the Ford website and you’ll see order instructions with delivery dates 18 to 35 weeks out.
Other than delays, what’s new for 2023? There are a few changes, mostly for appearance package choices. Rear-wheel drive has been dropped on California Route 1 trim—now “E” all-wheel drive with a 91 kWh extended range battery is standard. Significantly, all trims (Select, Premium, California Route 1 and GT) now offer Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 advanced driver assist system.
The Mach-E aligns with the Tesla Model Y in most measures, but lacks the Tesla’s range. In terms of performance, the GT with the performance/extended range battery package catapults to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, and even lower trims can hang with the Model Y with 4.8 to 5.2 second times. The Genesis GV60 SUV is also in the 4.8 to 5.2 second range, and other competitors like the full electric Volvo XC40 Recharge and Jaguar I-Pace also offer comparable lower trim sporty performance.
Space and comfort abound in the Mach-E. Even with its compact SUV footprint, there’s plenty of room in both rows to comfortably travel, and the rear and front trunk (“frunk”) spaces are compelling in that they fall only slightly behind the Model Y. Style-wise, the Mach-E carries similar good looks as its internal combustion muscle car sibling, while claiming its own modern electric characteristics in a bigger body. It’s distinctive and muscular looking in a segment dominated by Amoeba-shaped spaceships.
With an improved overall standard safety package, the base Select trim is a good value even with its lower range. No matter the trim, you’ll have to wait for your 2023 Mach-E as supply chain issues continue to slow dealer supply. But when your Mach-E finally arrives, you will be treated to a safe and stylish CUV that’s an absolute blast to drive. This Mach-E has earned its horseshoes.

NEW VOLVO EX90 - MID SIZE 3-ROW LUXURY FAMILY ELECTRIC 2023
All hail the new Volvo EX90, the electric seven-seat SUV that Volvo insists isn’t just a car, but ‘a highly advanced computer on wheels’
And while it’s very much a seven-seater SUV, Volvo reckons it’s also ‘a highly advanced computer on wheels’ that marks ‘the start of a new era’ for the Swedish firm. Which is big talk indeed. “The Volvo EX90 is a statement for where we are, and where we are going,” explains CEO Jim Rowan. “Born electric and software-defined, it demonstrates what future Volvo cars will stand for in terms of safety, technology, sustainability, design and creating a more personal experience for every customer.”
So let’s dig into the detail. Volvo is promising one new electric car a year as it targets EV-only sales by 2030; the EX90 is the first, and it’s the flagship. That means better everything, and more of it for good measure.
Enter state-of-the-art cameras, radars and lidar, all hooked up to an NVIDIA DRIVE core computer to form an ‘invisible shield of safety’ around the car. Volvo claims the EX90 can build a real-time, 360-degree picture of the world around it, as well as pick out small obstacles in the road hundreds of metres away. Day or night. At motorway speeds.
It’ll also scout the danger within. Namely you. Sensors and cameras track your gaze to measure alertness behind the wheel. If you get drowsy, it’ll (literally) give you a nudge; if you fall asleep altogether, it’ll stop safely and call for help. Turning nightmares into dreams.
For now you’ll have to make do with an upgraded Pilot Assist and steering ‘support’ while changing lanes, but Volvo says the EX90 is hardware-ready for unsupervised (i.e. autonomous) driving. So a future over-the-air update might one day make that a reality.
And what of the tech that isn’t designed to save your skin? The 14.5-inch touchscreen runs Google everything (you still get wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, don’t worry). A 5G connection is standard, good for streaming music. Your tunes’ll sound good too, with headrest-integrated Bowers and Wilkins speakers among the 25 dotted around the cabin.
Having no key is standard too. Or rather, your smartphone is your key. Which means you can send it to others virtually at will. Approach and the EX90 begins your ‘personal welcoming sequence’ while loading your settings and preferences. So no more fiddling with the seat after you’ve lent it to the other half.
Crumbs, we’ve not even mentioned specs yet. Now there’s a measure of Volvo’s focus on the tech. Anyway, from launch there will be two twin-motor versions - a standard EX90 and the Performance. Both get a huge 107kWh usable battery with the former estimating 364 miles of range and the latter 360. That hit is because the Performance gets 510bhp and 671lb ft, allowing all 2,818kg of EX90 to sprint from 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds. Yikes. The standard version does still send 402bhp and 568lb ft of torque to all four wheels though, so it'll only be a second slower. Meanwhile 250kW DC fast charging means a 10-80 per cent battery top-up takes just 30 minutes.

NEW RENAULT KANGOO E TECH COMPACT FAMILY FAN 2023
This latest Renault Kangoo has been well worth the wait, though. It's a more handsome machine than the one it replaces, and has a look that's inspired by the larger Trafic, as well as Renault's passenger car line-up. All vans currently come with black plastic bumpers front and rear - so repair costs are kept low - while inside the dark interior shares much with the Clio supermini. The same applied to previous versions of the Kangoo, but this time around, the current Clio is surprisingly upmarket, and as a result, the Kangoo Mk3 offers quite a premium feeling interior for a small van.

NEW RENAULT AUSTRAL - HYBRID COMPACT CROSSOVER 2023
Gone is the Kadjar and rounded styling, say hello to the sharper, edgier Renault Austral.
As part of Renault’s long-term strategy to make greater use of the Alpine marque, the Austral is the first vehicle to feature an Esprit Alpine trim package.
While Esprit Alpine versions of the Austral don’t have any extra power or torque at their disposal, they will look sportier thanks to grey 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a different grille treatment, black roof rails, and black instead of chrome trim pieces.
On the inside there’s blue stitching, faux suede upholstery, aluminium pedals, and a steering wheel covered in a mixture of Nappa leather and fake suede.
On high-end grades, at least, the cabin is fitted with a 12.3-inch instrumentation display, a large, portrait-oriented 12.0-inch infotainment touchscreen that’s angle towards the driver, and a 9.3-inch head-up display projected onto the windscreen.
Top-spec models are available with four-wheel steering, which can turn the rear wheels up to 5 degrees, and reduces the car’s turning circle to 10.1 metres.
Renault claims the Austral has Level 2 self-driving ability thanks to its stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, lane centering, front and rear autonomous emergency braking, and lane departure prevention systems.
Other safety features include rear cross-traffic alert, a surround-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, automated parking assistant, and matrix LED headlights.
At launch the Austral is available with four drivetrain choices in Europe.
Headlining the range is a 146kW E-Tech Hybrid model with a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, a 1.7kWh battery pack, and “smart multi-mode clutch-less dog box” transmission.
Under the WLTP testing regime, the Austral Hybrid is expected to drink 4.6L/100km.
There’s also an “Advanced” mild-hybrid system pairing the same 1.2-litre turbo mill with a 48V lithium-ion battery and a starter motor. Said to have a total output of 96kW, this drivetrain is expected to have a fuel consumption rating of 5.3L/100km.
For those wanting a bit more grunt, but less efficiency, there’s a pair of 12V mild-hybrid powertrains featuring a 1.3-litre turbocharged direct-injection four-cylinder petrol engine.
This is available in 118kW/270Nm tune with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which should have a rating of around 6.2L/100km. There’s also a 103kW variant with either a CVT or manual transmission.
The Austral is 4.51m long, 1.83m wide, 1.62m tall, and rides on a 2.67m wheelbase. This means the Austral is 60mm longer, 10mm narrower, 20mm taller, and has a 23mm longer wheelbase than the Kadjar it replaces.
With the rear seats upright, the mild-hybrid Austral has 500L of luggage space (VDA), but this drops to 430L in the Austral Hybrid, presumably because of the battery pack.
Mild hybrid variants with a sliding rear seat can enjoy up 575L of cargo space, while Hybrid models fitted with these pews can have up to 555L in the boot.

NEW RANGE ROVER SPORT AUTOBIOGRAPHY - MID-SIZE LUXURY 2023
This is highlighted by the new SV Bespoke personalization service announced by JLR on Wednesday. The service, which is initially available to buyers of the high-end Range Rover Autobiography and Range Rover SV grades, offers a wide array of paint finishes, interior trims, and accents to choose from. A match-to-sample paint option is also offered.
Among the highlights are ceramic accents, which can applied to the gear shifter and controllers for the drive modes and audio volume. They are created using injection molding, then cured in an oven, and finally polished for an even surface. Ceramics with embossed patterns can also be selected as an alternative to normal wood or metal accents.
SV Bespoke commissions can be made in person at a dedicated center in the U.K., at select JLR dealerships, or online via a virtual service.
The service is available starting with the 2023 Range Rover. The new model year also brings several updates to the SUV, including a new turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 option limited to the Range Rover SV and boasting 606 hp. It's possible the engine will also power the new Range Rover Sport SV set for debut on May 31.
The 606-hp V-8 features a mild-hybrid system that for 2023 is also fitted as standard to the regular 523-hp turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 in other Range Rover grades. The mild-hybrid system is designed to save fuel by recovering energy under braking and using it to aid the engine during high-load situations.
For fans of electrification, JLR has added a more powerful electric motor to the plug-in hybrid P550e grade. The setup, which combines a 3.0-liter turbo-6 with a single electric motor integrated with the transmission, delivers a combined 542 hp, up from 503 hp previously. A fully electric Range Rover is also coming next year.
Other updates for the 2023 Range Rover include the latest version of JLR's Pivi Pro infotainment system, which features a 13.1-inch touchscreen whose main screen has permanent digital sidebars with sliding controls for frequently used functions, like adjusting the volume or climate settings. The latest system also has built-in Amazon Alexa and support for over-the-air updates.
Also new for 2023 is Country Road Assist, which uses navigation information to adjust vehicle speed to account for curves and posted speed limits when adaptive cruise control is activated. The existing Terrain Response 2 system also receives a new Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control system to help drivers navigate tricky terrain by maintaining a slow and steady speed, thus leaving the driver free to concentrate on steering. A final update is the addition of JLR's Dynamic Response Pro anti-roll system.

NEW TOYOTA HIGHLANDER - MID-SIZE FAMILY CROSSOVER 2023
The current generation of Toyota’s mid-size crossover has been around for a couple of years and despite the excellent sales results, it looks like the company prepares a mid-cycle refresh. If we can trust the latest reports, the 2023 Toyota Highlander will be the one to receive a facelift. The officials are still quiet but experts believe that this could be a perfect time for novelties, which would keep this SUV highly competitive. Some sources also speculate about a long-wheelbase version, which would come as the Grand Highlander.
You may count on an SUV that has a lot of great things to offer. This is a comfortable SUV, with a well-designed cabin and a long list of standard equipment. Moreover, whether you pick the gasoline or hybrid version, you may count on solid driving dynamics as well. The hybrid model also offers a pretty impressive fuel economy.
When it comes to interior design, we might see a few changes as well. However, these things would be minimal, in terms of new color schemes and materials. On the other hand, most of the cabin will remain the same, which is not a bad thing at all. The current interior looks very nice and offers good overall quality. The materials are fine, while the build quality is very good. Even the sound insulation is better than you would expect from a typical Toyota.
The seating configuration includes three rows of seats and a capacity for seven passengers. The front seats are massive and supportive, while the second row accommodates adults with ease. On the other hand, the third row is typically tight for the segment and adults won’t find much use from them. The cargo area offers around 16 cubic feet behind the third row 48.4 cubic feet behind the second and 84.3 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. That’s about average for the segment.
We have no doubt that the potential 2023 Toyota Highlander facelift would bring some novelties regarding new standard and available equipment. Still, keep in mind that the current model stands pretty well in this aspect, so changes probably won’t be numerous.
For reference, the current model comes standard with things like tri-zone climate control 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, a six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, satellite radio, five USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. Among upgrades, you can find goodies like a 7-inch digital instrument cluster display, a 12.3-inch touch screen, navigation, an 11-speaker JBL premium stereo, wireless device charging, a moonroof, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener, ambient interior lighting, a household-style power outlet, a panoramic moonroof and many more.
We believe that the 2023 Toyota Highlander will arrive sometime in the second half of the year, with a starting price of around 36.000 dollars. The hybrid should feature starting price of around 39.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Ford Explorer, Chevy Traverse, Honda Pilot etc.

NEW TOYOTA GR COROLLA CORE EDITION - COMPACT HOT 2023
In a world full of designed-by-committee vehicles, EVs, and SUVs where everyday, affordable sports cars are a dying breed, the story of the Toyota GR Corolla hot hatch is one of our favorites. See, Toyota developed a new powertrain to participate in the 2021 World Rally Championships, comprising a turbocharged engine and adjustable, variable-split AWD. They took the subcompact Yaris hatchback, reskinned it, and transformed it into a stubby, wide-track, two-door hot hatch with all the subtlety of a bull terrier, especially to go WRC racing. Then the WRC introduced 2022 Rally1 hybrid powertrain rules, and Toyota was left with a powertrain but no rally program for it. So, Toyota simply sold the thus converted Yaris to the public, hooked up to a six-speed manual transmission, and with outputs varying between 257 and 268 hp, depending on the market.
Enthusiasts in the USA were frothing at the bit and reaching for their checkbooks when the news came that the car was not destined for local shores. But now Toyota has slotted the powertrain into a Corolla hatch, amped up the engine to 300 hp, and launched it in the US as the new Toyota GR Corolla hatchback. People who appreciate how infrequently such a hardcore piece of rally-developed kit is sold to the public won't care an ounce that some of the Toyota GR Corolla's competitors, like the VW Golf R and Honda Civic Type R, beat it on the odd metric; the 2023 GR Corolla is a proper hot hatch with a stick shift, rally tech, and Toyota's quality reputation at an affordable price. We might never see the likes of it again. Get in the queue.

NEW FORD ESCAPE ST LINE - REDESIGNED HYBRID 2023
The softer side of Ford’s compact SUV duo is a little edgier now. The 2023 Ford Escape made its debut Tuesday sporting a revised look and a trio of ST-inspired trims that strike out among the lineup with spicier looks, although the hardware remains the same.
In addition to new looks, the new Escape earns its tech credentials with an available touchscreen that's a foot or longer that updates itself over the air and additional driver-assistance features in the name of safety. To the former, the Escape has an available 13.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. To the latter, the new Escape adds blind-spot monitors with steering assist, and Ford’s next-generation Intersection Assist system that spots and helps to avoid pedestrians in crosswalks.
Like last year, the 2023 Escape is available Base, Active, Platinum, and Plug-In Hybrid models in addition to the ST-Line, ST-Line Select, and ST-Line Elite. Most of the differences are cosmetic, including a mesh grille, rear spoiler and skid plate. The ST-Line is powered by an inline-three that makes 180 horsepower, and the Select and Elite get a 250-hp inline-four. Front-wheel drive is standard on the ST-Line, and all-wheel drive is optional. On the Select and Elite versions, all-wheel drive is the only option.
The Escape Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid soldier on with a 2.5-liter inline-four married to electric motors and batteries. Ford says a front-wheel-drive Escape Hybrid will manage up to 550 miles per tank of fuel, which is slightly less than the 582 miles the 2022 Escape was rated for, although Ford said it expects the same 41-mpg combined rating from the EPA. The Plug-In Hybrid Escape targets 37 miles of all-electric range, which is the same as last year’s version, and a 3.5-hour charge time on a Level 2 charger.
Cosmetically, the 2023 Escape bumps its Blue Oval into the grille again and adds an LED bar that spans the hood. Headlights and running lamps are a little sharper this time around, while the taillights were warmed over with a new LED signature.

NEW GMC SIERRA DENALI EDITION 1 ELECTRIC LUXURY PICKUP TRUCK 2024 #gmc #car #electric

NEW GMC SIERRA DENALI EDITION 1 - ELECTRIC LUXURY PICKUP TRUCK 2024
GMC has unveiled the 2024 Sierra EV Denali, the third all-electric truck in its lineup after the Hummer EV pickup and SUV. Sharing the Ultium Platform with the Hummer EV and the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV, the Sierra EV will launch in early 2024 as a fully loaded Denali Edition 1 trim available in limited numbers.
Reservations open today for this particular model, which carries a starting MSRP of $107,000 (plus an estimated destination freight charge of $1,695). That said, the GMC Sierra EV lineup will add more affordable models for the 2025 model year, the Elevation and AT4, with the former to start around $50,000.
Back to the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1, it offers a GM-estimated range of 400 miles (640 kilometers) on a full charge, but GMC is not yet willing to disclose battery capacity. When asked about it during a livestream briefing InsideEVs attended, GM Battery Electric Trucks chief engineer Nichole Kraatz said the Sierra EV shares "similar batteries with the Hummer EV," without providing specifics.
The battery, which is also a structural element of the vehicle, powers a dual-motor powertrain that delivers 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet (1,063 Newton-meters) of torque via an e4WD system in Max Power mode. An interesting detail Kraatz revealed during the briefing is that Max Power mode is available for as long as the driver wants, making it different from the Hummer EV's Watts to Freedom mode, which enables peak torque for a short time only.
Engaging Max Power results in a 0-60 mph acceleration in less than 4.5 seconds, making the Sierra EV Denali the quickest Sierra ever. Max Power is one of five Customizable Drive Modes, in addition to Standard, Tow/Haul, Off-Road and My Mode.
Another strong point of the GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 is the 800-volt electrical architecture which enables DC fast-charging capability of up to 350 kW, enabling approximately 100 miles (161 kilometers) of range to be added in only 10 minutes. The electric truck also includes a 19.2 kW onboard AC charging module for home and public charging, besides offering access to GM's Ultium Charge 360.
As expected, the 2024 GMC Sierra EV adopts many of the features introduced by the Hummer EV, such as 4-Wheel Steer, CrabWalk, Variable Regen on Demand Braking, One-Pedal Driving and Air Ride Adaptive Suspension.
It also comes with Power Station Pro bi-directional charging, which enables the truck to be used as a mobile power source in various situations. For example, with the available Ultium Power Bar accessory, the 2024 Sierra EV offers 10.2 kW of off-board power through up to 10 outlets that can help power tools and other accessories on the trail or at a campsite. When properly equipped, the Power Station Pro can also power another EV and even a home—for up to 21 days collectively.
When it comes to practicality, GMC says the Ultium Platform provides "unprecedented flexibility and versatility for hauling and cargo stowage never before available in a Sierra."
As with the 2024 Silverado EV, the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 will be offered exclusively as a Crew Cab model with an integrated 5-foot, 11-inch (1.80-meter) cargo bed. The MultiPro Midgate provides 9 feet (2.74 meters) of storage between the cab and the tailgate when open, or nearly 11 feet (3.35 meters) when the standard MultiPro Tailgate is down.
An available tonneau cover turns the bed into a second lockable weatherproof compartment after the spacious eTrunk at the front, which features two drains and a 120-volt power outlet.
Inside the cab, the flat floor enables more storage space, including a modular center console, while the 60/40-split second-row seat offers four configurations. As for towing, the 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 has up to 9,500 pounds (4,309 kg) of trailering capacity and up to 1,300 pounds (590 kg) of payload. A trailering package comes standard on the Denali Edition 1.

MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER - MIDSIZE FAMILY CROSSOVER 2023
#new #mitsubishi #outlander #midsize #family_suv #crossover #2023
NEW MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER MIDSIZE FAMILY CROSSOVER 2023
Overview
The Mitsubishi Outlander’s front bumper reminds us of something that might print documents or handle faxes at the office but look past its Xerox-inspired face and you’ll find an SUV with an elegant cabin with a comfortable ride. While the Outlander is essentially a three-row version of the Nissan Rogue—the two share the same platform—its tightly-packed rearmost seats are mostly there as decoration as they provide little to no legroom for adults. The smaller two-row Outlander Sport is reviewed separately. The Outlander’s power comes from a 181-hp four-cylinder, and a CVT with front-wheel drive is standard; all-wheel drive is optional. A plug-in hybrid is also available and makes a combined 248 horsepower from an all-wheel drive powertrain that consists of a 2.4-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors.
What's New for 2023?
Mitsubishi has added a plug-in hybrid powertrain to the three-row Outlander lineup for 2023. The Outlander PHEV features Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) all-wheel-drive system and acts as the company’s next step in its commitment to reducing carbon emissions by 40 percent by 2030. A fully-loaded Outlander 40th Anniversary Edition is also available for 2023 and includes a bronze roof, unique badging inside and out, and a chrome hood emblem. The 40th Anniversary Edition is available for gas and PHEV Outlanders.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
With a base price of just over $29,000, the Outlander is a little pricier than other compact crossovers, including the Rogue. Despite a variety of desirable features, the top SEL trim has questionable value since it costs about as much as a top-of-the-line Mazda CX-5, which has won our 10Best award multiple times. So, we'd recommend the mid-level SEL model. It comes with intricate 20-inch wheels, a 9.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, a hands-free power liftgate, wireless charging, and driver assists such as adaptive cruise and lane-keeping assist. We'd also select the Tech package that adds a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a Bose audio system, and a panoramic sunroof.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The Outlander's standard engine is a 2.5-liter inline-four-cylinder engine that makes 181 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. It pairs exclusively with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive is the standard configuration, but all-wheel drive is optional. Although the Outlander's acceleration times are competitive with other compact crossovers (excluding speedsters such as the turbocharged CX-5 and Kia Sportage), it feels less responsive and lazier at highway speeds, which is exacerbated by its gearless CVT. Otherwise, the Outlander drives with agility and composure. Its steering is nicely weighted, its body motions are controlled, and its ride is taut. We did notice a lack of isolation that allowed a lot of road noise to enter the cabin on all but the smoothest roads, and our test vehicle's large 20-inch wheels with limited sidewall cushioning didn't help the situation. The Outlander we drove also had a soft-feeling brake pedal, but the stoppers hauled the SUV down from 70 mph in a class-competitive 172 feet. The plug-in hybrid model is more powerful and we estimate it will deliver slightly brisker acceleration. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder is assisted by a pair of electric motors for a combined 248 horsepower and in our first test drive, we noted that the Outlander PHEV felt perkier, especially in urban driving.
With a 20.0-kWh battery pack onboard, the Outlander PHEV is good for a claimed 38 miles of electric-only driving range per charge. That puts it slightly ahead of other PHEV versions of the Hyundai Tucson and the Ford Escape, but behind the Toyota RAV4 Prime, which beats the Outlander slightly with a 42-mile driving range. Unfortunately, the Outlander PHEV suffers from a fairly slow onboard charging system, which means charging at home will take roughly 6.5 hours if the battery is entirely dead. Luckily, a DC fast-charging system is optional, but it uses an outdated CHAdeMO charging port that may not be easy to find at fast charging stations in your area.
The all-wheel-drive Outlander earns an EPA-rated 24 mpg city and 30 highway. Front-wheel drive Outlanders see a marginal improvement of 24 city and 31 mpg on the highway. During our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route—part of our extensive testing regimen—the all-wheel-drive Mitsubishi's real-world result of 26 mpg fell short of its EPA estimate. The Outlander PHEV is rated for 25 mpg city and 27 mpg highway when running on gasoline, but by the government's yardstick, it's good for 64 MPGe combined when accounting for its electric driving range. For more information about the Outlander's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website.

NEW MERCEDES BENZ GLC, PLUG IN HYBRID COMPACT LUXURY SUV 2023
The costs as much as $58,900 for 2023, excluding freight, PDI and other fees. In the compact luxury SUV segment, only the Jaguar F-PACE and Porsche Macan demand more money.
To be fair, Mercedes-Benz has significantly updated the interior and the list of standard features. Every unit now comes with a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, 11.9-inch portrait-style touchscreen and wireless charging for smartphones. Furthermore, the packaging logic has been considerably simplified to reduce the effort of choosing from numerous individual options. Of course, where design options such as paint finish, upholstery, trim and wheels are concerned, customers can configure their vehicles individually as before.
At the sides, the mirrors have been moved down: mounting them on the doors helps with aerodynamics, as well as trimming wind noise in the cabin. The running boards are new as well, tapering from their narrowest at the front to their widest at the rear. Two-section rear lights are new for the 2023 model year, and there's more chrome to emphasize the exhaust surround.

The result is neither going to be mistaken for a hatchback — which is an issue some earlier Mercedes compact SUVs suffered from — nor especially different from the automaker's larger models. Both are positives. 18- to 20-inch wheels are offered, and the larger size means Mercedes can fit a spare wheel in the trunk, rather than just a puncture repair kit.
Some of the improvements, American drivers won't get to enjoy fully. The GLC supports Mercedes' Digital Light system — where the headlamps are made up of individually-controllable pixels — but, while illumination and projection are said to be improved over the old SUV's lighting, the U.S. still doesn't get the dynamically-changeable projection that the GLC offers in Europe, adapting to oncoming traffic. While the regulations in the U.S. are changing, so far Mercedes hasn't committed to embracing the tech fully on these shores, nor releasing a software update to enable them on existing cars with the hardware should that change.

The next-generation 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC took its sweet time to hit the market. Unveiled almost exactly one year ago, it will be available in Canadian dealerships starting in June. The company today announced pricing details, and we’re sorry to tell you that the new model is much more expensive than its predecessor.

NEW LEXUS RX - MID-SIZE LUXURY HYBRID COMPACT 2023
The fifth generation Lexus RX was improved in every aspect, and you should really consider it if you are looking for a luxury crossover
The fifth generation Lexus RX arrived in 2022 to replace a model that stayed in production for only six years. When compared to the model it replaces, the 2023 Lexus RX is built on a new platform, features a new look and an improved cabin, and most importantly, has more fuel-efficient engines. Initially, it will only be offered in RX 350, RX 350h, and RX 500h F Sport, but a RX 450h+ will be added to the lineup later on. Is the new Lexus RX right for you, though? Well, here’s what you need to know about it.
Now in its fifth generation, the Lexus RX is offered with your choice of gasoline and hybrid engines. The entry-level 2023 Lexus RX 350 is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. Next in line, we have the 2023 Lexus RX 350h - a model powered by a hybrid motor coupled with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine. The hybrid system delivers a combined 246 horsepower and 233 pound-feet of torque and is coupled to a nickel-metal hydride battery that helps improve the fuel economy. The top-of-the-line is the 2023 Lexus RX 500h F Sport Performance. The front axle is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 271 horsepower. In the back, there’s an 80-kW eAxle that consists of an inverter and a motor. In total, the hybrid system delivers a combined 366 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. Later, Lexus will also offer an RX 450h+ model - the first plug-in hybrid model in the RX lineup. It will combine a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an 18.1-kWh lithium-ion battery and an E-Four motor placed on the rear axle.
For the 2023 model year, U.S. customers will have to choose between ten different grades, and even if the prices for the luxury crossover start at an affordable level, they can get expensive very fast. The gasoline-powered 2023 Lexus RX 350 has four different trims, and both FWD and AWD configurations, plus the RX 350 F Sport Handling which only comes in an AWD configuration. The entry-level, simply called RX 350 is priced at $48,550.
The 2023 Lexus RX is not by any means the most powerful or the cheapest mid-sized luxury crossover out there. In fact, pretty much every competitor it has delivers a little bit more power. Take the Acura MDX, for example. In the base trim it is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that delivers 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. The MDX Type S, however, is a little bit less powerful than the RX 500h with only 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet. The same goes for the 2023 Infiniti QX60 - it is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that delivers 295 horses and 270 pound-feet. Even the recently launched Genesis GV70 delivers more power than the RX: its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is rated at 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, while the 3.5-liter twin-turbo engine goes up to an even more impressive 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. With 247 horsepower under the hood, it is only the Volvo XC60 that is currently placed under the Lexus RX. The same goes when it comes to prices: the 2023 Lexus RX is placed somewhere in the middle. The Genesis GV70 and the Volvo XC60 are cheaper at $42,900 and $43,450, respectively, while the Acura MDX and the Infiniti QX60 are a little bit more expensive at $49,550 and $49,200.
