Your Old Fashioned Will Never Be The Same! | Master Your Glass
Show description
What can I say about this episode? Well… I am joined by “Americas Bartender” Charles Joly. Charles is the only American bartender to have won Diageo World Class and has been serving his cocktails at the Grammys and Emmys among many more epic events for many years.
Charles is a global bartending champion, James Beard Award winning beverage designer, and takes guest experience to a whole new level.
I could go on for days on this guy; but I think the most compelling thing, as it pertains to this episode, is that he created the metal smokebox you see at many bars today, and he is going to show u how to use it. Visit Charles at CharlesJoly.com

SO HAPPY I Found This Bar in Florida! (Ice Plant)| Master Your Glass
Show description
This episode of MYG was completely based off an impulse visit to a place called the ice plant.
As I was visiting Saint Augustine Florida which was the first settlement in America, With My friend Armando Rosario we happen to drive by this place called the ice plant In a historical building.
Since the history of ice is so important to the American cocktail I was very intrigued. So I had to stop to see what’s going on.
I learned that area of the building that was born in 1928 It was an ice factory and they made ice for both the local people and those afar thanks to the train tracks that used to come between the building and the water. Also used for the fisherman to keep their fish fresh.

The history of the Angelo Azzurro
The story of the Blue Angel, the Italian party cocktail of the 1990’s and 2000’s drunk while the speakers pumped house music, has remained practically obscure until recently. Let's say that no one had really wondered if that drink had a real story.
What is the cocktail symbol for us of the discos together with the "B52 cocktail" was actually born as a symbolic drink of the first Roman LGBTQ+ evenings made in small clubs.
After months of research Alessandro Barbero, was able to trace its origins.
Its name (Blu Angel) refers to the fact that it "makes you fly". The cocktail was created in the 1980s as a symbolic drink of the first Roman LGBTQ+ evenings made in small clubs and its creator is Giovanni Pepè aka "Mammina". The Angelo Azzurro is a Roman cocktail of a Rome no longer in the Dolce Vita era, and in the mood for sexual freedom, subcultures and crazy parties.
To quote the creator:
"My name is Giovanni Pepè and Mammina is how some friends started calling me after the military. When I arrived in Rome from the province of Naples that name remained." Mammina was one of the first known bartenders in the capital. He worked behind the counter of the Alibi, at the time LGBTQ+ disco club, in the first LGBTQ+ neighborhoods and at the Angelo Azzurro Club, in fact. He is now 69 years old.
The Angelo Azzurro club, in the middle of Trastevere area, no longer exists today. In its place a few years ago came a vampire-themed place, then that also closed. "I invented the Angelo Azzurro cocktail for the opening of the restaurant in 1980," Mammina quotes. It was intended to be the pool-colored symbol of one of the first LGBTQ+ venues.

About Ross:
Ross Simon was steeped in the culinary and hospitality industry from birth, working at the family restaurant in the old country of his native home of Scotland. Now, following two decades experience in the catering industry and after mixing it up with the biggest names and brands in
the cocktail world, Ross has opened his own cocktail lounge inside the historic Luhrs Building in the heart of downtown Phoenix.
After leaving Scotland, Ross moved to central London to work as general manager for a very successful bar “The Old Crown” for three years. While there he learned all the essential qualities needed to run a successful & thriving business, before taking a bar back position at one of London’s most highly regarded and creative bars, the award-winning Lab bar (London Academy of Bartenders) back in 2002.
Working up the ranks of Lab until he earned the title of head bartender, Ross learned the importance of giving every guest the ultimate bar experience, as well gained knowledge by attending rigorous training programs at bars, events and distilleries worldwide. In 2006, as
London became saturated with new bars and great bartenders, Ross decided that he wanted to bring his trade, knowledge and love for cocktails to the United States, Arizona specifically. Since moving Stateside, Ross has worked for a number of well-known bars across Arizona; re-organizing and building each venues bar menu and team training to implement their menus to its fullest.
***********************************
About Douglas Ankrah
Douglas Ankrah invented the Pornstar Martini at London bar Townhouse in 2003 Douglas Ankrah, who also co-founded the groundbreaking London cocktail bar 'Lab' was dubbed an industry pioneer.

Nutella Cocktail Made Easy | Master Your Glass
On this episode of MYG I make a Nutella Cocktail. Nutella was my favorite teat growing up. In preparing for this show I learned that if I emulsify the Nutella by using egg whites it mixes beautifully.
**************************************
Nutella Cocktail
1 Egg White
1 Heaping Tablespoon of Nutella
1.5 oz (45ml) VSOP Cognac
.5 oz (15ml) White Crème de Menthe (I mistakenly said Crème de Cocoa on the Video)
4 Mint Leaves
Method: Start by chilling a cocktail coupe. Add all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker without ice and shake for roughly 15 seconds. Then add ice into the shaker and shake again for roughly 15 seconds. With the use of a Mesh strainer fine strain into the chilled Coupe.
Garnish with a Mint leaf.
The idea to emulsify the Nutella came from this video posted on the Chicago Reader YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/a4s6puiZCuY

White Sangria
Ingredients:
3 Green Apple slices
3 Lemon slices
4 Cloves
3 Kiwi slices
2 Barspoons of Pomegranate seeds
8 Cranberries
1 Cinnamon sticks
One 750 ml bottle of dry White wine
6 oz. (180ml) Grand Marnier
1 oz. (30ml) Demerara syrup (50:50 ratio)
1 small bottle (5.5 oz. = 160 ml) of soda water
Method: Start with the solids: Cut the apple, lemon, and kiwi slices and stab one lemon slice with the cloves. Add all these solids into a pitcher (Pitcher size 80 oz. minimum) with one cinnamon stick. Next pour the white wine, the Grand Marnier, Demerara syrup and stir.
Let it sit for a few hours in a cool area and when you are ready to serve it add ice to the pitcher and top it with a small bottle of soda water.
Pour yourself a glass over ice and garnish it with some of the fruit from the pitcher.
For a single serve: 1 apple slice, 1 lemon slice, 1 kiwi slice, 1 clove, ¼ Cinnamon stick, 4 oz (120 ml) White wine, 6 oz. (180 ml) Grand Marnier, and a splash of soda.

Best Approachable Buys of 2021! | Master Your Glass
On this episode of MYG I paid a visit to a local grocery store and a liquor store to find items available across the country in almost any store. I looked for white spirits (Gin, Vodka, Tequila, Rum) that were under $20 and respected brands. For brown spirits (Brandy, Bourbon, Blended Scotch) I upped the budget to Maximum $30 for the whisky and $35 for the Brandy; and Liqueurs to maximum $25. This video is NOT sponsored, I picked by using my experience and likings. Happy and safe holidays!
**************************************
Lunazul Blanco Tequila - 100% Agave ($18.49)
One of the best bargain brands with some earthy and creamy roast agave notes. Excellent for mixing!
Bombay Dry Gin ($17.99)
An excellent, well-balanced gin. It is sturdy enough to stand up to mixing and refined enough to shine in a classic Martini.
SKYY Vodka ($16.49)
A clean vodka with soft peppery heat; perfect for any cocktail and smooth enough to drink on the rocks. Beautiful new package!
Stoli Vodka ($14.99)
Round and sweet initially and finishes spicy and crisp with a bittersweet ending. A solid vodka to drink especially if you prefer robust and not totally neutral vodkas.
Mount Gay Eclispe Rum ($19.99)
This is a basic rum with a good balance of spices. Balanced, and slightly oaky. In my opinion this is the best rum you can find in a poorly-stocked grocery store.
The Famous Grouse Blended Scotch Whisky ($22.99)
This Scotch is delicious and so underrated in North America. It’s quite affordable for both sipping and mixing; it’s an ideal bottle to bring to parties.
Wild Turkey 101 ($27.49)
The Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon expression is by far the most recognizable that Wild Turkey distills. This is a highly-respected distillery and a highly relevant brand in the Bourbon world.
Ciroc VS Brandy ($34.99)
This French brandy is light and smooth. Great to sip or to mix and affordable to buy.
Disaronno Amaretto Liqueur ($22.99)
A solid liqueur with rich, bold flavor that makes for a great after-dinner or a modifier in cocktails, adding an extra and often unexpected layer of flavor and texture.

A Simple Cocktail That's Screwed Up | Master Your Glass
Show description.
This episode of MYG I make two versions of the Screwdriver, the traditional version and one was described in 1961 as a cocktail shaken cocktail – The result was surprising.
**************************************
The Classic Screwdriver
2 oz (60ml) Drakes Organic Vodka
4 oz (120ml) Fresh orange juice
Method: Fill a tall glass with ice. Add the vodka, then top with fresh orange juice. Stir to mix.
Garnish: Orange peel (saved from the orange I juiced to minimize waste)
“The Vodka Orange Blossom”
½ oz. Simple Syrup
1 oz. Fresh Orange juice
2 oz. Vodka
1 egg white
Method: Shake the ingredients above and strain into a chilled cocktail glass
Garnish: Orange peel (saved from the orange I juiced to minimize waste)
Note: This recipe is adopted by David Augustus Embury ’s 1961 book The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks. Embury was an American tax attorney, mixologist and author from New Rochelle, New York. His book is highly opinionated, witty and with conversational tone.
