The rep prescription was only technically 3+ for this week, so I could have taken this easier, to save some energy for next week; but I really wanted to go for 10, haha. The weight did feel a bit heavier than usual, however; so I was unsure if I would be capable of doing it, today. It went okay, though! In spite of a few hiccups, here and there. I think I even had another rep or so in the tank, too. So this bodes well! 2 plates for 10 reps will FALL, and SOON! 🤘🏻

5x10 100 Kgs Sumo Deadlifts. Double Overhand. Last Set.
As I mentioned in my previous Sumo vid, I have been rotating between one week doing lighter, higher volume sets for hypertrophy, and speed work, and heavier, low volume sets. This is an example of the former. I feel like Sumo has finally been starting to click with me more in the past couple weeks, in terms of effective positioning, and performance. I have to say, these sets felt great, and I have to admit that doing sumo effectively does feel quite satisfying. Especially at the lockout/above the knee portion of the lift. This deadlift variation also naturally feels much less taxing for doing high volume sets, and I hammered these out quite quick, too; only resting about two minutes or so, between sets. Feels really good, man! 🤘🏻

NEW-TECH EXCLUSIVE: Very Easy 145 Kgs x 10 Squat.
Not quite a rep PR, as my best with this is 12 reps, I believe. I definitely could have easily beat that, but I had made a hard cap at ten reps, to save my energy, and just focus on being speedy and powerful, with the reps. Plus the last two went a little slower, so I figured it would be a good idea to call it, there. I bet I could have pushed this to 15+ reps, but there is a time and a place for that, hahaha. Got to stay focused!

I was hoping to get 10 reps, but that last one was pretty grindy, so it did not seem very likely. Still not bad, though. I tried a new camera angle, but my lower body is out of the frame with this one, which is a negative, I suppose. Let me know which angle you guys prefer!

NEW-TECH EXCLUSIVE: 5×5 140 Kgs Sumo Deadlifts
Still doing Sumo Deadlifts as a deadlift accessory. I am rotating between one week doing light, hypertrophic/speed work with 5x10 at lower weight (100 Kgs at the moment), and the next doing higher intensity, lower volume sets with 5x5 at 140 Kgs, currently. Felt a bit weak, and off in the form department, today. Gotta get a hang of the positioning, and hip-height. The last 2-3 reps definitely went better, though.

Coffee Chat Part Uno: New direction
I'm going to take a more conservative approach to my training vid uploads, and focus on just uploading the more interesting vids, as opposed to the higher volume approach, I was doing before. So in lieu of that, I can also hopefully focus more on making more chat/discussion vids, which can be uploaded in between the lifting vids, to diversify the content a bit, and keep the upload frequency a bit higher. Let's see how it goes.

95 Kgs x4 Incline Barbell Bench Press.
I was really hoping to hit five reps with this weight, and I think I am capable of doing it on a better day, since I was pretty tired after my deadlift session, from the day before. I still got some good work in, though! I can probably push this for another cycle or so, before I will have to tweak my Training Max percentages.

180 Kgs x 6 DEADLIFT. COMING BACK!
Felt pretty damn good today, as opposed to last week, when I decided to take it easy, and only do 172.5 Kgs for 3 reps, which definitely seemed to help. I used figure 8 straps here. First time I have used these, in a long time. They can definitely be handy, but I find the tightness in the grip either feels too loose, or too tight on one, or both hands; like what happened here, where my left strap went loose, and I had to re-adjust. Which is usually why I just stick to normal style straps. May just be because I am a noob with them, and/or the ones I have just suck, lol. Felt pretty confident I could at the very least hit 5. I thought 6 reps was a new rep PR, but I realized later that I actually hit that a few months ago, lol. Looking back on this, I may have been able to do another rep or so, as the speed wasn't unbelievably slow/grindy on the last one. But it probably would not have been a good idea to push it any harder than I already had. Great day, today. Feels good to be getting back in to the swing of things 🤘🏻.

100 Kgs x 9 Bench Press. BIG REP PR!
SO. CLOSE. To my milestone goal of 100 Kgs/2 plates for 10 reps. Unfortunately, my energy dropped off pretty hard before going in to this set, and when I did my last working set of 90 kgs for a triple, it felt a bit harder than I expected; and not like I was capable of hitting 14 reps with it, like I did earlier. So that leads me to believe I may not have been at peak performance, for this particular session. I decided to do the reps slower as well, to try and work on maintaining tightness, and a consistent barpath. It certainly helped in that department, but it could have potentially robbed me of an extra rep or so as well, with the added time spent doing the reps. So I think 10 reps is there, on a better day! But hey, this is still I believe 3 whole reps better than my previous best with this weight, so this is still a big win! Can't complain. I'll crush that milestone soon enough 🤘🏻

90 Kgs x 7 Barbell Incline Bench Press.
I was feeling once again pretty trash today, and was initially going to take the day off, as I also did not have a lot of time, as I had to get to work earlier than usual. However, I decided to spend some time playing around with my setup/positioning with this movement, and then I got the itch to train and put it to the test, so I quickly sucked down some coffee, and got to work. This felt much better than last time, as my positioning and bar path was much nicer, and smoother. 5 kgs more, with the same amount of reps? Hey, that sounds like some pretty good progress to me 🤘🏻.

140 KGS x 18 SQUAT! MASSIVE ALL TIME PR!
Like I said, I have been feeling so burnt out, and weak, lately. However, for this particular session for some reason, I felt pretty damn good, all things considering. The weight was moving kind of like it used to, and motivation was high. I still thought I would not even be capable of getting up to 10 reps at this moment, but I thought if I could do that, or close to it, that would be a good step back on track. Before I knew it though, I had already hit 10, so I thought "What the heck, why don't I try going for a rep PR?" With my previous best I believe being 13 reps. Then I got to 15, and figured I am only FIVE AWAY from my lifetime, so why not go for it, instead of wondering what could have been if I didn't. Those last few reps were EXCRUCIATING; seeing stars, and everything, hahaha. My body just gave out on that 19th rep; nothing left to give. Maybe I could have got thoae last two if I had really just taken my time, and try and regain some energy; but that point it was so hard just to stay up, and keep the barbell on my back, lol. SO. CLOSE. This is a huge achievement, though. I know that my body and my mind will only get stronger from this.

85 x 7 Incline Barbell Bench Press. FIRST TIME training this.
As I am doing 5/3/1 style training again, I decided I would substitute overhead pressing as a main lift with incline bench press. I felt like total garbage, today. Felt like I was going to be sick after this lift, lol. I thought I could get ten reps with this, but that was perhaps foolhardy, given my current state, and never training heavy with this movement. Consider myself humbled! I will have to try and play around with the setup of this one, too. It is really difficult to set incline benching up in my small shed, as my bench has to extend outside of the door, and it is tricky to have a good position where you don't bash the uprights while pressing. I'll work on it.

Deadlifts felt absolutely awful, today. Even 142.5 Kgs was feeling quite heavy. I thought I could be capable of hitting this for ten reps, but I had no energy at all, and just felt super weak. I decided to use straps, to help make the lift a bit easier. However, I was still barely able to hit five reps, here. Oh, well. I'll turn it around, eventually.

90 Kgs x 14 Bench Press. NEW REP PR!
Felt pretty low energy, but I figured I could still get a rep PR with this weight; as my technique, and overall strength and performance has significantly improved since the last time I did Touch N 'Go. I find it is definitely harder to stay tight, and maintain a good bar path doing this, as opposed to pausing, especially when the fatigue sets in. I believe my previous best with this was 11 reps, with a rep or two in the tank, so this is an improvement. I would have really liked to have hit 15, but I misgrooved pretty badly on those last couple of reps, due to form break down. I can probably hit 15 on a better day. For now, this is not a bad start, I'd say.

FIRST TIME training Sumo deadlifts. 3x3 140 Kgs. What do you think, @Benjamin MacIntyre?
Man, these feel wonky, once I get around 130-140 kgs, hahaha. I have played around with this movement not even a handful of times in my whole life, and it had either felt really good, or really bad, for me. I've decided I would try using this variation as an assistance lift for a while, and see if I can get some sort of carryover, with it, while also being a bit kinder to my lower back, right now.

I figured I would keep trying this movement for a bit longer, but upping the weight, and reducing the volume a bit. Trying to make really prrrrregnant pauses on the pins, so it is a super dead stop, while staying really tight, then driving H A R D upwards. Let's see what this does for me.

The Front Squat push continues! These are getting BRÜTAL now, hahaha. We'll see if I can keep pushing with sets of ten; but I might have to start doing lower volume sets, like around 6-8 reps. Don't want to over-exert myself too much, and impact my recovery.
