Fun morning at the pond, the boys love nothing more than a good boat ride

I told him to just knock it down a bit so that it doesn't turn into an ice rink. (I made one hell of a mess one year bringing it down to about an inch, and then it warmed up, and our horses turned into pro ice skaters...) But the minis were starting to drag bottom so it was time to make them a run.

Using our B7300, Daniel is pushing back the manure pile so Grammie can get her wheel barrow back there. It got pretty tight to the barn, so he had to be careful not to back up too fast and whack the wall.

The ground out there is pretty boney soil, all old river bed. Not as easy to dig as it looks like it should be. He actually did a pretty good job out there, I dug the holes holes for the posts with the TB25 (3000 extra lbs always helps....) 14,366 views on YouTube before being removed. They don't want children learning any skills but what they learn in an FPS game....

No wonder he's so good at the claw game at the mall..... B-) Its good control/dexterity practice, and I think his mother was impressed at his skill level. 4,077 views on YouTube, before it was removed. Youtube only promotes FPS gamers, people that actually do things are given strikes.

A few minutes later and he was pretty much on his own. I think his parents are going to need an excavator now..... ;-)

Unfortunately, I missed the best part, he actually did a lot better after this short clip, but I fat fingered the iPhone, and accidentally stopped the video. B-(

It didn't work though, the kids got nerves of steel. ;-)

Daniel and grammie helped remove a tree blocking the road. The power was out on top of the mountain, so the problem was no where near us. The snow was very heavy, and you could hear branches cracking.

I had him do this video for his mother after we brought him to see her at work on mothers day, and he was acting very strangely. He wouldn't go near her, and refused a kiss, and didn't want her touching him. Apparently, one of the residents had pneumonia, and Daniel figured that it could be caught if you were within 50 feet of the person. It's funny now, but we were kinda pissed at him for acting like such a jerk without any context. He didn't say anything until we got into the car and headed home. Apparently, he didn't want to do much talking so he didn't suck the pneumonia in.....

By the time Daniel hit the end of the bridge, he got REALLY good at using the impact driver.

We had another one on our wall with a missing clip no one could explain. So I figured that this might be a good time for some hands on extinguisher time again. Its interesting to note that when I asked him how long the spray lasted, he said he thought about two minutes........ So its a good thing to have a refresher once in a while, so that you remember that these things are generally designed for you to have enough to escape.

We got to talking about the fire extinguishers we keep handy while welding today, and Daniel wanted to try using one (He had never seen anyone use one before, and thought it was just filled with water.) We had two that were out of serviceable range, so we took those put for him to try. The first unit didn't work! (Apparently, It had at some point been dropped.) The firing button was broken, but the seal looked intact, and the safety pin was still in place. (The safety pin had not been removed, but the trigger must have bumped just enough to break the seal.) That unit was from 2000, and had no gauge on it. When he pushed the button, nothing happened. (This is why we keep several of them in the garage, you just never know.....)

I must have a better shot of it somewhere, but I thought this was kinda cute.

Daniel got his training early. His main concern however was activating the horn. B-)

I think he was a little distracted trying to find the horn button again.

We decided to split up some fallen birch, and see if the splitter still worked. We’ve had split firewood for years, so we haven’t had to split any in quite a while.…

The tall grass got wedged into the brake and stopped the bike dead as he was coming around the corner.

Mary and I bought this mower back in 1999, and gave it to Dan (Daniels father) about eight years ago. The main pulley broke, so Daniel and I fixed it for him. They are going to need it, as they are buying a house with a pretty big yard. Daniel is looking forward to helping Dan mow the lawn there. ;-)
