What a beauty. A little Calico Crab moving along the gulf coast of southern Florida and burrowing it’s backside in the sand. These crabs, like star fish and sea urchins, help clean the ocean by feeding on decomposing organic matter.

At a park in Naples, this young alligator was just hanging out near a pedestrian boardwalk. After a while it decided to submerge and swim away

At Freedom Park in Naples, Florida, there were a few blue crabs visible in the shallow waters of the boardwalk trail. This one was close to the boardwalk and in good lighting.

Flap, flap, flap those wings. A 7 week old Osprey works hard to fly, but needs more practice. However, he is able to life himself to hover above the nest for a brief moment.

An Osprey family of five live in this nest. Dad is flying around. Mom is chirping away between feeding her chicks. The dominant baby begins chirping with mom and moves over to perch itself as a guard giving onlookers a good view.

Thin layer of clouds slowly moving past the full moon makes for a beautiful scene.

This White Morph Reddish Egret is having a great time hunting for food.

Don’t know where this Black Crowned Night Heron found this cut of meat, but it was quite funny watching it try to eat such a large piece. At the end it appears the heron may have hid all or part of the piece.

It’s breeding season for Great Egrets. During this time Great Egrets’ lore turns green and they grow beautiful wispy feathers as seen on both of these. Came across these two while they were mating.

This mangrove crab is much easier to see on the light colored tree it’s climbing.

Dad Osprey brought food to the nest and is eating. Mom is just chillin’. Junior stays close to dad begging for a piece not wanting to wait for dad to finish so he and mom could eat.

Tricolored Heron focused as it hunts for food, but it’s concentration is momentarily broken when an onlooker sneezes.

A close up of the Mangrove Tree Crab. They are tiny and their color blends in with the darker mangroves making them difficult to spot unless they are on the move. This one appears to be eating from the tree.

At Barefoot Beach Park a couple of Ospreys were seen in their nest. The male had just returned with food and was feasting. To my surprise, a little one popped it’s head up into view. More videos of this family will be uploaded.

As a young Gopher Tortoise slowly enters its burrow, watch sand fly through the air while it adjusts the burrow entrance.

At Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary this Anhinga took time to dry its wing while staying alert constantly looking around.
