Knockout game hits Cincinnati
2013 - CINCINNATI, OH Authorities across America are seeing a spike in a brutal new trend called "the knockout game." The goal involves participants hitting an unsuspecting victim unconscious with one punch. At least two deaths are attributed to the game this year.
"It's disturbing to say the very least, very disturbing. It's sickening, I don't see where the thrill would be," says Tim King.
"I think it's just a childish game, and people should take the opportunity to protect themselves," explains Ben Fry.
On Friday night, a 42 year old man walked out of this bar on Langland Street. The police report states the suspects punched the victim in the face and fled. Tim King knows the victim and says the whole thing is shocking.
"I think it's poor parenting. I have an 11-year-old at home. I want to know where he's at and keep an eye on him," adds King.
But why? Law enforcement hate crime units are taking a closer look. The attackers, mainly teenage boys target victims that appear vulnerable. The trend also show most victims are Caucasian, prompting some to call the act "polar bear hunting".
"Maybe profiling different kinds of people or something like that," explains King.
The Northside victim told FOX19 that he thinks the teens were taking video or pictures of Friday's assault, another common trend. Ben Fry says this game is extremely risky for the attackers, especially not knowing if the victim may be armed with a concealed carry permit.
"It could definitely turn bad. They have the right to defend themselves and they're inflicting bodily harm so it could definitely not end well," says Fry.
Lawmakers in New York are already looking into a bill that would label this as gang assault - a crime that could result in felonies or jail time.
"I wonder if it will slow down with winter coming and not as many people will be outside or if it'll be a better opportunity for people to do it and cover their face up," say Fry.
Authorities say the best way to avoid this situation is be aware of your surroundings and especially don't be consumed in all of your technology like a cell phone or IPod. Finally, pay close attention when walking near groups of teenage boys.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident in Northside, if you have any information call police.

Jewish man charged with hate crime for making anti-semitic threats
The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force on Monday arrested a man in connection with a series of anti-Semitic threats and vandalism in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Police charged David Haddad, 56, of Manhattan, with aggravated harassment as a hate crime. Sources told Fox 5's Lisa Evers that Haddad is himself Jewish and is related to one victims and knows another.
The NYPD has connected Haddad to four incidents: threatening phone calls made to an 80-year-old woman in Brooklyn on December 11, 2011; anti-Semitic symbols and statements scrawled on five apartment doors and a threatening phone received in a building in Manhattan on January 10, 2012; a threatening phone call made to an 87-year-old woman in Manhattan on January 11; and a threatening voicemail message left for a 78-year-old woman in Brooklyn on January 1, authorities said.
Sources said he is also the prime suspect in a rash of Swastika incidents and a phone threat over the weekend in Midwood.

Hundreds of racist Black youths attack Whites at Wisconsin State Fair
2011 - Governor Scott Walker is now ordering the state patrol to provide extra security at the fair after reports of mob violence at the fairgrounds.
According to witnesses, a large group of black teenagers rampaged thru the midway late Wednesday with several fights breaking out.
Police say the violence then continued outside the fairgrounds after closing, and there were several attacks that may have been racially motivated.
Authorities estimate that hundreds of people may have been involved.
According to police the fights started on the grounds before 7 p.m. The fair was consequently shut down about four hours later.
"There were many fights, when the fights broke out more people ran to the fights," State Fair Police Chief Thomas Struebing said.
Amidst the chaos, State Fair Police arrested 24 people inside the gates. Seven of their officers were injured, two severely enough to be hospitalized.
One officer was hit with an improvised weapon, the other was hit in the face and suffered a concussion.
The two officers were off-duty today and have since been released from the hospital.
"I was really shocked," Sabrina Socolick, a witness, said.
One vendor inside was the victim of theft.
Outside a bus driver was attacked and hit in the head, prompting Milwaukee transit to step up security today, police were seen photographing his injuries Thursday night.
"It was like a swarm of bees coming out," said Larry Brown.

Hate crimes:Racist Blacks beat up Whites at Wisconsin State Fair
2011 - There are two new developments in the State Fair mob attacks. West Allis Police are now looking into the possibility of adding the hate crime enhancer. Also, more 911 audio has been released from the State Fair mob attacks. The audio shows that even law enforcement can be overwhelmed at times. More than 20 minutes of audio was released by West Allis Police Department.
Through a news release the West Allis Police Department announced investigators may be recommending hate crime charges for 11 open cases. In those 11 incidents the victims describe their attackers as African American and police say all the victims were Caucasian or Hispanic.
"Hi, I'm calling because my kids came from the state fair and they were attacked by a group of black people that opened the car door and started punching them," one woman tells the dispatcher.
Caller: There's just random mobs of people you just need to get police out here.
Operator: How many people?
Caller: I mean there are groups of 20 chasing after some white guy.
In order for a hate crime to be charged it must first meet the definition. That's when an attacker intentionally selects his or her victim based on characteristics like race or religion.
Police say they don't have anyone in custody in connection with those 11 cases yet, but believe race was a factor in all of them.

Hate Crimes Against Whites And Latinos Rise In D.C.
2012 - D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier says hate crimes targeting whites and Latinos are on the rise. This statistic comes from a report showing that hate crimes in general increased by almost 70 percent last year.
In 2009, D.C. reported a total of two bias crimes based on a victim's race. During the first six months of this year, there were 15.
Lanier says most of the victims were whites and Latinos -- a result, she says, of the city's rapidly changing demographics and landscape.
"The changes in the city: the gentrification, new residents versus old residents, development areas, you've got a lot of development and a lot of people in these development areas and you've got people who commit crimes take advantage of those areas," says Lanier.
Lanier says it's sometimes difficult to tell what is or isn't a hate crime.
"A slur is made during the course of an assault, but was the assault motivated by their hatred toward you, because of the way you look, or your sexual orientation?" says Lanier. "It's very difficult sometimes, but we do the best we can."
Hate crimes based on sexual orientation remain a concern for police and advocates in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Jerry Hughes, a transgender woman, gave emotional testimony to the council about the murders of eight transgender women of color.
"For this reason, they were hated. For this reason they were murdered," she said. "Many of their cases remain unresolved, the killers remain free. This isn't justice," says Hughes.
The number of reported hate crimes overall continues to increase in D.C., but authorities say it's impossible to know if it's because of better reporting or increased violence.

Hate crimes: Racist Blacks are targeting Whites in Salt Lake City
2016 - Salt Lake City police are investigating two possible hate crimes. SLCPD tells Good4Utah over the weekend a group of black men attacked two white men, in two separate incidents, and they think the incidents are related
The first attack happened on South Temple around 10 o'clock Friday night. A 15-year-old white male was walking with two other friends near Temple Square when they were approached by two black males.
"They asked about a cigarette lighter," said Detective Greg Wilking with the Salt Lake Police Dept. "They said basically they didn't have a cigarette lighter and then the black males started saying stuff to the effect of look at the white boy."
Police say the 15-year-old was then attacked. "He was hit in the head and didn't require hospital care, but he was assaulted by these two individuals," said Det. Wilking.
A short time later, and just around the block on 100 S. Regent Street, police say another man was attacked by a group of black men. "We had an attack where a male was walking down the street and he was approached, this time, by three black males and they asked him a question about race. Basically he told them he didn't understand their question and they began assaulting him."
This attack more severe. The 32-year-old victim had to be taken to the hospital with injuries to his jaw and eye socket.
Police say in both cases the suspects descriptions were similar. "Both of the victims in these cases felt like they were targeted because they were white by black individuals," said Det. Wilking.
While police are currently investigating these assaults as possible hate crimes, they say they hope this is where the violence ends. Det. Wilking said, "I certainly hope this is an isolated incident. I don't anticipate that we're going to see more of this. We've got to start healing and stop the violence."
Salt lake city police say they're putting this information out there because a potential hate crime, regardless of the race of the suspects or the victims, needs to be addressed.

Hate crime: Racist Black youths beat up Hispanic boy
Seven African-American boys were arrested in connection with the beating of a Latino boy near Cactus Middle School in the 3200 block of East Avenue in Palmdale, Calif., on March 14, 2012. A video of the incident was posted on YouTube and subsequently taken down for evidence. KNBC4's Beverly White talks with Lt. Don Ford, of the Palmdale Sheriff's Station and concerned parents about the hate crime allegation.
Most of the suspects believed to be involved in a suspected Palmdale hate crime have been detained, according to police.
Seven suspects, ranging in age from 13 to 16, were identified as the attackers involved in a March 14 attack on a 15-year-old Latino boy as he was walking home from Cactus Intermediate School in the 3200 block of East Avenue. His wounds were not life-threatening.
Detectives discovered a video of the scene posted on YouTube, said Lt. Don Ford with Palmdale Sheriff's Station. The video has since been taken down and a copy is being used as evidence.
A group of up to 10 African-American boys challenged the boy to a fight, surrounded him and then punched him while several others watched, police said.
The victim fell to the ground and the suspects continued punching and kicking him in the face and head before he was able to get on his feet and escape, police said.
Shoe impressions were left on the victim's skin, police said. He was treated at a hospital for swelling caused by multiple kicks to the head and faces surgery to repair several teeth kicked out during the fight.
The suspects, all Palmdale residents, face felony charges of committing a hate crime and assault with force likely to cause great bodily harm, police said.
"There's a lot of it going around here in Palmdale - blacks and Mexicans," said one Palmdale teen. "It's too much."
Palmdale is one the cities that participates in the SHARE Tolerance program, which stands of Stop Hate and Respect Everyone.
Schools host presentations by sheriff's deputies on mitigating the hate and intolerance at the "root of many problems in Los Angeles County today," according to the program's website.
"Obviously, we will be redoubling those efforts to provide a safe environment for all the children here," Ford said.

Hate crime: Racist Black man slashed woman just for being White
2016- The man who police say slashed a woman in the neck in Brooklyn earlier this month is facing hate crime charges.
The NYPD says Gregory Alfred, 25, was arrested Tuesday on numerous charges, including hate crime attempted murder, hate crime felony assault and hate crime attempted felony assault.
Investigators say Alfred attacked the 53-year-old woman from behind in Flatbush around 10 a.m. on March 10.
Her neck was slashed as she was walking near the corner of Beverley and Rugby Roads, according to police.
Investigators said Alfred dropped the knife and an American flag-printed bandana, both of which were recovered.
Alfred was taken into police custody on Sunday in Sayreville, New Jersey.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where she was treated and released.
Sources told the New York Post he told police he had set out to slash "white people," because he blamed them for "the system" that prevents him from openly smoking pot.

Do White lives matter?White protesters demand hate crimes charges
2015 - CINCINNATI, OH. A group known as the Traditionalist Youth Network wants stronger charges brought against those involved in the Fountain Square attack.
“Why is there a double standard when it comes to white lives in Cincinnati,” said Chairman of the Cincinnati chapter Matthew Heimbach.
“In the incident report the police officer said it was anti-white violence.” Heimbach is referring to the attack on a white man from Indiana named Chris McKnight.
McKnight was beaten by a group of what appears to be black men on Fountain Square. The police officer working the case originally classified it as a robbery and felt it was a hate crime. Later, the officer changed his mind and reclassified the incident report.
“You had 40 assailants and one white victim…if it were a reversed case where 40 white men beat a black man, that would be called a hate crime,” Heimbach continued.
Hamilton County prosecutor Joe Deters announced that a grand jury had indicted seven people on a seven count indictment for the attack on McKnight and police.
As far as classifying the attack as a hate crime, Deters would not go that far. “We have no evidence of ethnic intimidation besides the victim being a different color than the people who did it,” said Deters.
If convicted, the men involved could spend the next decade in prison.

Slavery: Blacks dirtiest secrets exposed
Africans sold Africans from other rival tribes to Europeans. Even in America there were cruel Black slave owners. In fact, the first slave owner in America, Anthony Johnson, was Black.
Over 3,000 or 28 percent of free negroes in New Orleans owned slaves.
"Affirmative Action" and "Diversity Programs" are nothing more than nice sounding monikers for racial discrimination.
Dr. Duke also shows how Slavery is used to used to justify discrimination against White people when the historical fact is that less than 1 percent of White people ever had slaves. There is actually more likelihood of an African American having direct ancestors who owned Black slaves than a White person having a direct ancestor who owned slaves.

Hate crime: Racist Black man shot man just for being White
2014 - LOCKPORT, N.Y. - Just before police say 18-year-old Josiah Chandler fired several shots at his victim, he said, "You are gonna die tonight."
Officers were called to Church Street and Green Street around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on reports of shots fired. There they found a 20-year-old male victim suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the Eastern Niagara Hospital before being flown by Mercy Flight to ECMC, where he is listed in critical condition.
According to witnesses, Chandler fired at least three shots at Colton Parker-Durst as he walked with a friend. Police say Chandler, who is black, shot at Parker-Durst, who is white, because of his race.
Lockport Police Chief Larry Eggert said, "It is a sensitive time with what's going on across the country. That had no bearing on this case at all quite frankly from what we've determined. In this case, based on our opinion and the District Attorney's opinion, we met the threshold [for a hate crime] and that's why we charged that way."
Police tracked down Chandler after identifying him as a suspect and after interviewing him arrested him on charges of second degree attempted murder as a hate crime, first degree assault and second degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Court documents reveal Baker-Durst was shot with a .38-caliber handgun, which police found. It was loaded and had its serial number scratched off.
Detectives did not release a motive for the crime but Chandler reportedly confessed to the crime.
Chandler was arraigned Wednesday afternoon and pleaded not guilty. He is being held in the Niagara County Jail on $250,000 bail.

Hate crime: Blacks targeted Jews to beat up and rob
2012 - Three people have been arraigned on hate crime charges today for allegedly attacking a young man in Monsey because he was Jewish.
Police say the attack took place on Grove Street at around 11:50 p.m. Monday.
The victim, a 19-year-old Jewish man, was walking near the Bremer Firehouse when he was hit in the head from behind with what police says was a long, double-edged knife.
Police say since the knife was sheathed when it struck the victim, he experienced pain but was not cut.
Officers who arrived on the scene in minutes arrested 18-year-old Stanley Joseph, of Suffern, 20-year-old Jennifer St. Amand, of Airmont, and 20- year-old Qwesi Williams, of Brooklyn. Police say eyewitnesses supplied them with a license plate number that led them to the trio.
According to officials, Amand was acting as a getaway driver and wasn't involved in the attack, but all three of the suspects made statements that they planned to target members of the Jewish community. As a result, the trio now faces hate crime charges in addition to assault and attempted robbery charges.
Police are also looking into the possibility that there was a fourth assailant.

Hate crime: Black man with PhD sent noose and pictures of lynchings to interracial couple
2012 - An interracial couple received a noose in the mail, with pictures of lynching - and more.
What's even more shocking is the fact that the man who sent the items is not only black himself, but holds a PhD. "When I opened the letter up, first thing I saw was a noose," Carl Smith told My FOX Detroit. "I opened it up further and it was like four pages of hate mail. People being hung, black guys, Nicole [Brown] Simpson getting her throat cut, and I was terrified."
Smith and his wife, Susan, contacted the FBI who requested that they send the items over. Upon further investigation detectives were able to find DNA on the noose, which allowed them to pinpoint the culprit.
Glenn E. Morgan got 90 days in prison.
In light of the situation, Mr. Smith blasted Morgan for "ruining my life," while his wife came out of the incident with a different perspective "I love this man and there's nobody in the world that's gonna make me change the way I feel about my husband, whether he's black or whether he's white."

Hate crime wave in New York
2010 - 3 reports expose hate crimes against Asian women and Hispanic men.
Police have arrested three juveniles in attacks on five Asian women on the Lower East Side.
Police say the group struck five times between March 31 and Monday, three of those times at the Baruch Houses, a sprawling public housing complex comprised of 17 apartment buildings.
The victims, Asian women ranging in age from 50 to 71, were jumped and beaten by the group after apparently being picked based on their ethnicity.
Surveillance video captured the group, comprised of three young men and two young women. They typically waited in the lobbies of the apartment complexes.
Once the spotted a target, they would surround the victims. The girls would beat them with their hands and fists while the young men watch.
Police arrested three suspects on Friday night and charged them with assault as a hate crime. The suspects are two girls, aged 12 and 15, and one 15-year-old boy. Investigators said their parents brought them to the precinct to face the charges.
No money was taken in the attacks, and the victims had no prior contact with their attackers, according to investigators.
Detectives from the NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force began investigating because it appeared the group was randomly picking their victims solely because they are Asian.
The group was caught on surveillance camera at the scene of the first attack, last week inside the Samuel Gompers Houses at 90 Pitt Street.
Police were still looking for two more suspects.
Four people are under arrest in the beating of a 26-year-old Mexican man on Staten Island, believed to be a hate crime.
Fearing for his life, Rodulfo Olmedo described the beating as brutal and savage.
He was hit in the head. His face is swollen and there are bruises on his arms.
While he says they were shouting racial slurs at him, he was only thinking about the pain he was suffering.
He is still scared after learning four suspects have been arrested.
Rolston Hopson, Tyrone Goodman, William Marcano (all 17 years old) and a fourth suspect who is 15 face charges of assault as a hate crime, gang assault, robbery and a hate crime of aggravated harassment.
Caught on surveillance cameras, Rodulfo is seen returning to his apartment just steps from the bakery where he works when he is set upon by four teenagers wielding baseball bats and chains. Another camera shows them pounding on him while police say they were shouting racial insults.
"We believe at this time that they selected this victim either in whole or in substantial part because he was a Mexican," Richmond County District Attorney Daniel Donovan said.
One suspect then rifled through Rodulfo's pockets, grabbing a wallet and cell phone, before leaving him unconscious and bleeding.
As his family listens to his fight to survive, fighting back their own tears, Rodulfo says he has no hatred for the attackers, but he hopes they understand the pain they have caused him and his family.
Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday in the trial of two men accused in the deadly beating of an Ecuadorian immigrant in Brooklyn, New York in 2008. Hate crime murder in America
The two men convicted in the beating death of Ecuadorian immigrant Jose Sucuzhañay were sentenced Thursday to 37 years in prison.
Sucuzhañay was walking arm-in-arm with his brother, Romel, in Bushwick in December 2008 when they were approached by Keith Phoenix and Hakim Scott. Prosecutors say the men beat the brothers while yelling anti-gay and anti-Hispanic remarks.
Phoenix, who was found guilty of murder in the second degree as a hate crime, received the maximum sentence in Brooklyn Supreme Court of 25 years to life in prison on those charges. He was also sentenced to an additional 12 years in prison on the charges of attempted assault as a hate crime.
He will serve the penalty consecutively, for a total of 37 years to life in prison.
Hakim Scott was convicted of manslaughter, but acquitted of murder and hate crimes charges.
He, too, received the maximum sentence of 25 years in prison for the manslaughter charge. Additionally, he was sentenced to 12 years for attempted assault.
Scott will serve the penalty consecutively, for a total of 37 years in prison.
"I think the system has sent a clear message and whoever acts irresponsibly has to be held accountable," said Diego Sucuzhañay, the victim's brother. "So that these kind of behaviors do not happen again."
"We certainly express our condolences from the district attorney to the Sucuzhañay family and to Romel and his mom, who is here today," said Assistant District Attorney Josh Hanshaft. "We believe the judge sent a message that hatred will not be tolerated. We thank the family for working with us to help bring this case to the end today."
Prior to the sentencing, both Phoenix and Scott spoke before the judge, along with relatives and family members of the victims.
Phoenix and Scott both asked the judge for leniency, blaming the situation on alcohol. They claimed there was no bias or hatred involved.
Sucuzhañay's brother, who watched as his brother bled to death on the sidewalk, and Sucuzhañay's mother both made tearful statements.
Addressing Phoenix and Scott, the judge said that violence and hate will not be tolerated and she hopes the sentences send that message.
Family members vowed that Sucuzhañay's death would not be in vain.

Hate crime in Ann Arbor
2011 - It's unclear what other than hate may have motivated this attack because the victim was not robbed, just beaten.
Ann Arbor Police are trying to find out if an early morning assault on a young man is also a hate crime.
The beating took place near the intersection of E. University and S. University and it involved eight assailants.
Police suspect the 22-year-old victim, who is white, and a friend of his were followed by the group of mostly black men as they left Backroom Pizza on Church Street near the University of Michigan campus.
The victim told investigators that the men hurled derogatory names based on his race and perceived sexual orientation before and during the beating. The victim was left with cuts and bruises but, reportedly, refused medical treatment.
Nothing was taken from the victim and his friend was not harmed.
One of the attackers was seen holding a knife and as the victim's friend tried pulling him to safety, police say, the attackers took off on foot.
Of the eight attackers, we're told six are black. One is white and one is hispanic.
So far, no arrests have been made but police are looking at video from nearby surveillance cameras in hopes of being able to identify any suspects.
