New Study: Oreo Cookies Lower LDL Cholesterol Better than Statin Drugs
In this video, I report on a peer reviewed study published in Jan 2024 in the Journal Metabolites that demonstrated a case study of an individual who lowered their LDL cholesterol by 71% with 12 oreo cookies each day for 16 days. After a 3-month washout period the same individual had very high LDL cholesterol and followed 6 weeks of high intensity statin drug therapy and only saw a 32% reduction in LDL cholesterol.
The results of this study should call of us to reexamine the role of LDL cholesterol in the formation of coronary heart disease and in particular with lean mass hyper responders (LMHR) who have great metabolic health but get very high LDL cholesterol when following a low-carb, high fat ketogenic style diet.
