Summer Garden Memory
Just had our first light snowfall here in the Heartland. Saying, "So long" to the garden is always poignant for me. Some lovely holidays coming up though to help pass the time until Spring. The piano is playing Johann Sebastion Bach's "Air On The G String". A poignant song if there ever was one : ) Comments Welcome

Pollinators And Sedums
The Sedums (Live Forevers) are often overlooked. They need such little tending and do well in full sun with limited water. And the pollinators LOVE them. All kinds of pollinators. And this with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Sonata #11 played by Harvey Lavan "Van" Cliburn Jr. An American pianist, at the age of 23, Cliburn achieved worldwide recognition when he won the inaugural International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 1958 during the Cold War : ) Comments Welcome

Burying Nuts For Winter
Every fall these guys begin burying black walnuts EVERYWHERE! All well and good, I understand the hoarding instinct full well and Squirrels anxiety with this changing weather. But. . . he never remembers where he buries them. I have to pull the shoots in the spring or we have a zillion (useless) black walnut trees that become tougher and tougher to pull, chop or dig. Grrrr . . . :) :) And, Franz Liszt's Liebestraum (CD). Comments Welcome

Cat Burglar!
Stop! Thief! Tom Cat get out of my catnip! Go home! "Scarborough Fair" is a traditional English folk song from the Middle Ages, referring to an old fair in Scarborough, Yorkshire. It is a market fair that started sometime in the 14th century until the 18th century. The song became popular due to rock & roll greats Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. They were introduced to it by Martin Cathy, a British singer. The song was then re-written with a song of theirs, ‘Canticle’ and its popularity rose due to its anti-war lyrics during the Vietnam war period : ) Comments Welcome

SpaceX Starship 04/20/23
I am fascinated by the "universe" as we know it. And maybe because Elon Musk is such an interesting guy, I watched the Starship launch this morning. The launch was successful and completed the most important steps. I didn't capture the gigantic explosion at the end but set it to Rod Stewart's "For All We Know" from The Great American Songbook : ) Comments Welcome

I Talk To The Trees
I especially talk to this very, very old Elm that has to come down. It is a danger to our roof and chimney. It was planted when this was just a single room cabin by the river in 1916. I feel badly about it but will remember it fondly many nights by the fire. "I Talk To The Trees" from "Paint Your Wagon" (Lerner & Lowe) and originally sung by Clint Eastwood : ) Comments Welcome

Breakfast And The Galaxy Song
One of my standard "get back on track" breakfasts. Uses up old wrinkly apples (walnuts, raisins, etc.) which adds sweetness to the "mush" That's what we called it growing up. It was either oatmeal, cream of wheat, cornmeal or sometimes commercial "Roman Meal". This "brekky pot" is Bob's Red Mill "5 grain" or something. The Galaxy Song is sung by Clint Black. It was written by Eric Idle and Trevor Jones and originally performed by Monty Python. I still am still stunned that the earth spins that fast ( >900 mph) and we don't even know it or fly off! : ) Comments Welcome

Summer Trains - Rochelle Illinois - Peter Gunn
From my "old phone" archives so . . . artistically blurred : ) These videos were soooo train-loud I HAD to put them to music. Rochelle is a crossroads for trains of Burlington Northern & Santa Fe, now BNSF. These two railroads daily haul millions of tons of merchandise on at least 80 to 90 trains through Rochelle in a 24 hour period. There is a park there and a small gift shop as well in a real small town atmosphere. Music is "Peter Gunn" by Henry Mancini for the television show in 1959 : ) Comments Welcome
