Pumpkin Spider
A cute name and colors but at the end of the day it's still a spider, an orb weaver, Araneus marmoreus. Harmless to people and mostly hidden in woodsy settings. Adult pumpkin spiders are active from the middle of summer until the first frost. They breed and lay hundreds of eggs in the fall in cocoons that will hatch in the spring. The young molt several times and emerge as adults in the summer. The cycle then repeats. And a very familiar children's song : ) Comments Welcome

Metaphorically and climatologically the Winds of Change definitely are upon us. Midnight the Cat doesn't like it either, wants to be picked up. But . . . on the up side . . . most of our leaves (zillions) have gone to someone else's yard : ) : )

Amazing Nature: Slug On Styrofoam
How did this garden slug (a terrestrial, shell-less mollusc) get on this styrofoam cooler in the basement? I "hate" styrofoam but an RX delivery came in it and I don't know what to do with it. And this slug . . . not cute and cuddly but a complex, living creature. And at the end of the video it pulls in quickly . . . obviously aware of me, too. Amazing.
