524 💖💲 ✌ ACME jumps on an end-of-season cleanup as our weed control, fertilization and mowing jobs are wrapping up for the season. We rented a brand-new Kubota mini stand-on. It quit after a few minutes. NEVER put gasoline in a $39k diesel mini stand-on. What a waste. Lex shows us the car wreck they captured on their truck dash cam. Turns out it was stolen. We also fire another employee in this video. Actually, he fired himself with a bad attitude and complete lack of respect for his bosses. Lex tells you the whole story. 523 💖💲 ✌ ACME Mowing attended the 1st Annual Texas Lawn Care Roundup on 30 September 2023! Lex and JT got interviewed in their very first podcast as well! We’ll share that as soon as it is released! The networking and business improvement event was hosted by AJ’s Lawn Care based out of San Marcos Texas. Teno and Ricky did an outstanding job with the guest speaker lineup. We got the inside scoop from a dealer who taught us how to maximize the various Fleet Programs in order to save thousands of dollars each year. We heard from a Stihl rep about how to utilize their equipment tracking dongle in order to maintain equipment for peak performance. A landscaping business that is on track to gross $2.3 million this year told us how he expects to increase that to $3.3 to $3.5 million next year. A Texas podcaster was in attendance as well. He explained how he started in the business and how talking with owners at ALL levels has improved his business and business knowledge. One of the largest family-owned distributors in the USA was also there. He explained how his company can help maximize your profits while, at the same time, train you in aspects of the business that you may be new to. 522 💖💲 ✌ KH and the Old Man sit down and talk about how ACME has been going. We hired the wrong CPA in 2022 and paid for it. Red flags were there….plus some bad google reviews should have clued us in. We think we’ve found our guy finally. It’s important to do your due diligence when hiring someone for ANY part of your business. We found out the hard way. Don’t be like us! Read reviews and do research. We’re finding out that our 2022 taxes were not done as they should have been leaving a lot of money in the pockets of the government when it could have been left in our pockets. Lesson learned. 521 💖💲 ✌ Some talk about zero-turn mowers and which zero turn mower in our stable is best for an extremely bumpy lawn. We have high praise for Exmark, we’ve used them for years and love them, but are they the best option for a bumpy lawn? We have other opinions which we share with you in this video. We recently bought a Spartan zerotun with less than 100 hours and a Ferris zero-turn with less than 300 hours. There is a clear stand-out mower for this property. 520 💖💲 ✌ We bought a 2016 Spartan Zero Turn mower with a 61” deck. Got an amazing deal on it as well. One of our favorite clients had this mower in his shop. He recently passed away and his widow told us that he intended to give us a great deal on it as he was done cutting his own lawn. It had a few issues. 518 💖💲 ✌ Finished the big water feature. We think it turned out very nice. Lex and JT still have not been cleared for heavy labor by their doctors so they have become the errand/go-fer team. Today they shop for plants, bushes and trees. ACME has landed a contract with one of the largest builders in our area. We’ll be providing all the landscaping for each new house they put on the market. This will keep up busy for the next few months. We’ll also be installing Christmas lights and taking them down when the time comes. JT and Lex are clearing some of the trees on their property in preparation of building their house. The wood will be cut, stacked and sold this winter by the rick. Walter is learning to mow on the zero-turns as we prepare to hire another guy for the mow crew. Walter’s brother arrives from Arizona this week and will become our newest mow crew member. Walter will no longer be the low man on the totem pole……that’s his brother’s position now! Underneath are some beautiful native boulders that the client was eager on seeing again after 20 years. We exposed them and man are they pretty! It looks 100% better without the ivy cover them! They found this Ferris zero turn mower with a 72” deck and the big 37 Horse power Kawasaki FX1000V sitting at a client’s property that they just picked up. The client was asking $5000….but she needed a few parts. They hydros were serviced and a few grease zergs needed replacing along with a new vacuum line, so they accepted the $4500 offer. We were able to get ahead on the mowing schedule a few days. It’s been much cooler this week with temps in the 90s. A great week to start this pond revitalization project. We’re removing all dead and diseased vegetation and culling some of the ivy away from the water features. This hasn’t been maintained properly for at least 10 years. We’re finding leaves and composted debris 6 to 8 inches deep in areas. We’ll be making many many dump runs. 💖💲 ✌ Being depressed can feel like being trapped in an inescapable prison. It can feel like there is no hope for your life. No recovery from the depth of despair. Trust me, I know. I’ve battled the demons in my head since I was a child. Thoughts of suicide invaded my thoughts on many occasions. Having a front row seat during my many deployments around the world offered me the unfortunate opportunity to witness man’s cruelty towards their fellow man. That’s been my trigger to unhappiness and depression. Some call it PTSD. Some have terrible family lives. Some lost a loved one that they feel they can’t live without. Some say that a doctor has diagnosed them with a chemical imbalance. Whatever the reason, whatever it is that triggers your negative thoughts and feeling….whatever it is….you can recover. You can live a life of happiness. 507 💖💲 ✌ JT gives an update on the accident he and Lex got into. The F-250 is totaled. We are grateful that Lex and JT are alive. They got beat up pretty bad. You can see the bruise healing over JT’s eye in this vid. What you don’t see are the bruising up and down his body. Lex has some very nasty bruising on her hip and right side of her torso. Neither of them are back to work yet. Thank God we have an amazing mow crew that’s keeping up with the mowing. Extra hours means extra pay….but it’s been over 100 degrees here for the past two weeks. 506 💖💲 ✌ Exmark Mfg Company gifts us with a one-off set of Exmark Prototype Tractus tires for our 52” Exmark Lazer Z zero-turn! We may be the only people on this planet running these Tractus tires on our machine. Although Exmark planned to manufacture the Tractus tire for the 52” Lazer Z, it never happened. The Tractus is made only for the 60” models and up now. We got a call and were asked if we’d be interested in having these old prototype tires/wheels. We said yes and now here they are! JT and Lex are still recovering from their truck accident. The mowing crew has been able to get their work done with some OT. Unfortunately, JT and Lex are very restricted in what they can do physically. Thankfully they’d just completed a round of fertilization the week prior to their accident.
