IOWA GOV. KIM REYNOLDS ARGUES STRICTER GUN LAWS ARE NOT THE ANSWER
"Let's figure out how we get these kids in school, get them the education they need and set them up to be successful. Not set them up for jail or a life of crime. And so that's where we're going to continue to focus. We have gun laws. We have laws on the books right now for guns, and those weren't accessed legally," Reynolds said.
Des Moines police haven't determined how the teens got the guns, but say they were possessed illegally because they were minors.
Fifteen-year-old Jose Lopez was killed in the shooting on March 7.

ARIZONA STATE SEN. LUPE CONTRERAS (DEM.) SAYS VICTIMIZED WOMAN SHOULD STAY AT HOME RATHER THAN CARRY
Imagine you’ve been the victim of some kind of horrific assault. For far too many people, that’s not difficult because they already have been. Many of those people eventually become gun owners and even Second Amendment activists.
For one Arizona activist, though, speaking before a state senate committee elicited the kind of response no one should be subjected to.
Lauren Snyder, whose voice quivered as she recounted the horrors of the assaults she’s endured (you can see her full testimony here, beginning around 1:17 and finishing up around 1:22), wasn’t just ignored but was insulted and denigrated by State Sen. Lupe Contreras, whose advice was that if you’re afraid, you should stay at home behind locked doors.

ALABAMA BECOMES THE 22ND STATE TO ENACT CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY!
ALABAMA (WTVM) - You can now carry a concealed handgun in Alabama without a permit.
Hours after the legislation passed in the State House, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey signed the constitutional carry bill into law late today.
Most law enforcement organizations, including outspoken sheriff’s in East Alabama, opposed the permit-less carry bill saying the permits help combat crime and enhance public safely.
However, gun rights advocates argued people should not have to get a permit to carry a concealed handgun.
The sponsor of the legislation, Representation Shane Stringers says permits will still be needed in certain instances.
”You’ll still need a permit for going across state lines to other states. You’ll also need a permit in anything to do with school grounds or sporting events where you parking on school grounds or maybe even going through a car line to pick up your children or grandchildren. If you have a weapon in your car, you’ll still need a permit for that.” explains Stringers.
Alabama joins Indiana and Ohio in passing constitutional carry during the 2022 legislative cycle.

MASSIVE INCREASE IN FEMALE GUN OWNERSHIP
A Girl And A Gun Is A Women's Shooting League Out Of Michigan
TAYLOR, Mich. (WXYZ) — A girl and a gun, a fitting name for a shooting league created for women by women.
“It’s kind of like being on a bowling league, only we shoot guns,” said Audree Danielson.
A new study finds that close to half of all new U.S. gun buyers since 2019 have been female. In Michigan, a growing number of women are learning how to use a firearm. Images showing unprecedented turnout – 1000 to 2000 women – wrapped around the block during the pandemic to attend the free firearm training event Legally Armed in Detroit.
“I have been consistently teaching ladies-only classes without even intending to because they’re coming out of the woodwork,” said Danielson.

IN NEBRASKA, CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY ADVANCES, BUT OPPONENTS PLAN TO FEED IT A “POISON PILL”
A bill expanding who could legally carry concealed weapons in Nebraska cleared a major hurdle Tuesday. State lawmakers voted 30-12 to pull the bill (LB773) out of the Judiciary Committee, where it had stalled, to be debated by the full Legislature. It's unclear whether the measure has enough votes to go any further.
The “poison pill” amendment would allow cities of the metropolitan class, meaning Omaha but not Lincoln, to require registration of all handguns, other than those owned by people with a concealed-carry permit. The city could not deny registrations to anyone allowed by state law to own a gun. This would likely cause gun rights advocates to oppose the bill.

INDIANA LAWMAKERS SEND CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY TO GOVERNOR’S DESK
It is unknown if he will sign the measure.
The bill’s provisions would allow anyone age 18 or older to carry a handgun in public except for reasons such as having a felony conviction, facing a restraining order from a court or having a dangerous mental illness. Supporters argue the permit requirement undermines Second Amendment protections by forcing law-abiding citizens to undergo police background checks that can take weeks.

THIS LOOKS LIKE A GOOD RESOURCE FOR OLDER GUN OWNERS (LIKE ME)
Creating a plan for what will happen to your guns when you die, or when you are unable to safely handle them, is important. It is also important to think through the situations that could arise which would make it impossible for you to safely operate a firearm. While we all hope this will never happen, that doesn’t mean it won’t.

In addition, she fired after the person had fled. That said, she was still a victim and IMHO, the cops should have cut her some slack. I wonder what they would have done had she fired into the ground – which is totally safe? I bet they would have done exactly the same thing…..

CONCEALED CARRIER STEPS IN, SHOOTS 1 OF 2 DOGS MAULING YOUNG AUTISTIC CHILD
People were trying everything to stop two dogs from mauling a small child, but nothing worked until a licensed concealed carrier stepped in and shot one of the dogs to stop the attack.
He told people to get back and drew his pistol. Two men can be seen holding guns in the video. The concealed carrier is the man in the green jacket. The other man could have been the one with the paintball gun, but that has not been confirmed. The concealed carrier then waits for what looks to be a good shot on one of the dogs. From the angle of the video, it doesn’t look like anyone is in the line of fire. He fired and killed the dog.
