Ayam Pelalah (Balinese shredded chicken with chilli sambal)
Ayam Pelalah (Be Siap Mesitsit) is Balinese shredded chicken with chilli sambal also sometimes served with raw sambal (Sambal Matah). This is a very popular dish in Bali and often served with Nasi Campur and also in the special occasions such as a wedding reception and birthday party. This is so easy to make and delicious served with rice as always 😊 Happy Cooking 😊
Ingredients:
For the grilled chicken -
250 gr chicken breast
Pinch of salt
Splash of vegetable oil
For the chili sambal
5 garlic cloves
5 Bali hot peppers
4 big red chilis - seeds removed
1/2 tbsp palm sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 lemongrass
2 kaffir lime leaves
A lil squeeze of kaffir lime fruit juice
Note: I also add a tiny pinch of salt while I’m grinding the Sambal using a mortar and pestle - this is optional but does make it easier to grind the sambal
