How Putin Uses Western Reliance On Russian Nuclear Fuel To Counter Sanctions for Ukraine War
#Russia #Ukraine #NuclearPlant
The US and its European allies are importing vast amounts of nuclear fuel and compounds from Russia. The Western imports are providing Moscow with hundreds of millions of dollars in badly needed revenue as it wages war on Ukraine. The sale of these nuclear products from Russia remains legal and unsanctioned by the West, according to an Associated Press report. Nonproliferation experts and elected officials say the imports are helping to bankroll the development of Moscow’s nuclear arsenal. Experts say that these imports are complicating efforts to curtail Russia’s war-making abilities. Ukrainian officials have pleaded with world leaders to sanction Rosatom to cut off one of Moscow’s last significant funding streams. President Zelensky has pressed Western leaders to target Rosatom after Russian forces captured the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Rosatom is running the partially shut down plant, which Russia say has faced repeated Ukrainian shelling attacks since Feb. 2022. Watch this video to know why the West is facing difficulty in cutting off imports of Russian nuke products.

Ukraine "Downs Kinzhal" In Russian Missile Attack, Zelensky Fires "Corrupt" Military Draft Chiefs
#Russia #Ukraine #moscow
Ukraine said that its air defences shot down one of four Russian hypersonic missiles in the western region of Ivano-Frankivsk. Ukraine’s military said that the Kinzhal hypersonic missile was destroyed within the Kyiv region. Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat said that the Kinzhal missiles were fired at the Ivano-Frankivsk airfield. Ihnat added that Russians were targeting Ukrainian pilots who are soon to go to Europe for training. Russian military blogger “WarGonzo” said that Kyiv’s troops have “managed to expand control” in Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. WarGonzo said the expansion of Ukrainian control was across a width of 6 kms, but in terms of depth it was insignificant. A Ukrainian Intelligence official has said that those living in Moscow should expect more attacks. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that Ukraine needs to cease fire in order to pave the way for peace. Zelensky has dismissed all heads of Ukraine's regional military committees amid a sprawling probe in armed forces recruitment. The mass dismissal comes amid a sprawling anti-corruption probe within the military, which has already produced more than 100 criminal cases. Putin ally and Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said he wishes to maintain relations with EU countries. Lukashenko made his remarks after a visit to Minsk national airport, where he addressed Belarusian aviation under Western sanctions. Watch this video to know what's latest in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Ukraine Orders Kharkiv Evacuation, Belarus Refinery Fire, "Wagner Russia's Only Africa Investment"
Ukraine has ordered mandatory evacuation from 37 settlements after acknowledging situation on the northeastern front near Kupiansk was difficult as "Russians are trying to prevail and break through our defence".Kupiansk and the surrounding areas of Ukraine's Kharkiv region were liberated by Kyiv's forces last September but Russia claims its forces are advancing and have "improved their positions along the forward edge of the front line". An oil refinery in Belarus briefly caught fire, just days after Ukraine's intelligence warned of a Russian false flag operation in the country. Two persons were killed and two were wounded in Ukrainian shelling of Bryansk, the Russian border region’s governor said. Ukraine said it expects Erdogan to convince Putin to return to the Black Sea grain deal for the sake of global food security, as the Turkish President is "probably the only man in the world who can convince President Putin to return to the Black Sea Grain Initiative." Kyiv also said it wanted to invest in Africa but not like Russia, whose "biggest investment (in the continent) is the Wagner Group".
