Japan Ex-Prime Minister Seeks US “Resolve to Fight” for Taiwan, China Cites "History of Aggression"

A top Japanese official’s call for the US to show their "power of deterrence" in the Taiwan Strait has made China furious. China has warned Japan against “being led astray again,” over a remark made by former Japanese PM Taro Aso over Taiwan. Taro Aso angered Beijing by saying Japan, the US and Taiwan must show Beijing their “resolve to fight” if the island is attacked. Beijing hit out at Aso’s remarks as “balderdash” that “interfered in China’s internal affairs and undermined stability in the Taiwan Strait”.
