Hebrews Chapter 11 (part 1) - The Partriarchs pf Faith
This video is an expository study of Hebrews Chapter #11 verses 1-6. Chapter #11 defines faith. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Hebrews Chapter #11 goes through numerous Patriarchs of Faith and describes what attributes faith brings, as well as describes what the conviction of faith looks like.
After defining faith, verses 3 through 6 speak about God’s Word, Abel, and Enoch and the attributes brought through Faith. We conclude part 1 by diving into a controversy over the question, “Did Enoch ever die?”

Hebrews Chapter 10 - The Sufficiency of Chrsit
This video is an expository study of Hebrews Chapter #10. Chapter #10 picks up where Chapter #9 leaves off, where the Sacrificial System was merely a shadow of the good things to come. The author explains that sacrifices do not take away sins. And because the sacrifices were merely symbolic, we know that good works do not take away sins, for the very same reasons. It is Christ’s offering, Christ’s sacrifice that takes away sin. The author literally states: “14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.”
The author then explains that there no longer remains any sacrifice for sin! What does he mean by that? Through another very stern warning, you are encouraged to hold fast the confidence of your hope. We are told not to shrink back into destruction! For those who seem to be losing their hope or losing their faith the author encourages them to REMEMBER!

Hebrews Chapter 6 - Security in God's Promise
This is an expository study of Hebrews Chapter 6. In this Chapter, the author presents a stern warning to true Christians that we absolutely need to hear. We also take a tangent and look at the parable of the prodigal son. While we look at the parable, we will see how it applies to Christians. This parable supports the interpretation of this very stern warning in Hebrews Chapter 6.
After this stern warning the author then finishes Chapter 6 with an encouraging fact that God’s Promise of Rest is eternally secure. He shows us when and how the Promise was secured. This is why we can all be assured and confident in God’s Promise of Rest.

Hebrews Chapter 4 - The Promise Remains
This is an expository study of Hebrews Chapter 4. We will discover when God made His original promise of rest to all of mankind. Like much of the Old Testament, it was hidden in a shadow of things to come. As we continue through Chapter 4, you will see that God’s Promise of Rest has continued throughout history, from the time of the original promise, through the Exodus in the desert, into the time of King David and that same promise remains for us today. This original promise of rest is God’s Sabbath Rest.
As we have seen previously, the author continues to mix encouragement with warnings. He encourages us by telling us that God’s promised rest remains for us today, and that it is not too late. But at the same time, he is warning us to learn from the Israelites of the Old Testament: do not Harden your hearts! The overall message of Hebrews chapter 4 is: Let us hold fast our confession while God’s Promise of Rest Remains.

Hebrews Chapter 9 - Divine Worship
This is an expository study of Hebrews Chapter #9. This chapter focus in on the symbolism of the Outer Tabernacle where the continuous daily work of the Levitical Priests took place. This continuous work was symbolic of man efforts to please God. Then the author makes the following statement:
“8 The Holy Spirit is signifying this, that the way into the holy place has not yet been disclosed while the outer tabernacle is still standing.”
We dive into the explanation of this statement. All of this leads into Jesus Christ being the mediator of the better covenant, the New Covenant. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ far exceeds that of just bulls and goats. His sacrifice is sufficient ONCE for all.

Hebrews Chapter 8 - The New Covenant
This is an expository study of Hebrews Chapter 8. Chapter #8 starts by drawing the conclusion that Jesus is the True High Priest in the True Tabernacle. That is to say, that the earthly High Priests were merely shadow pictures of the true High Priest, Jesus Christ! The earthly tabernacle was simply made from the pattern of the True Heavenly Temple. We will see how the Levitical ministry was just a shadow picture or Biblical Type that points to the Greater Ministry of Jesus Christ. The author of Hebrews then compares the Old Covenant to the New Covenant. And, when you see how much better the New Covenant is in comparison to the Old Covenant, you are supposed to understand that this is why Jesus has the Greater Ministry. The lesson concludes stating that the Old Covenant has become obsolete and is ready to disappear. Because the author uses the covenants to compare the Levitical High Priests and the High Priest of Melchizedek, Jesus Christ, if the Old Covenant is obsolete, then so is the Levitical Priesthood.

Hebrews Chapter 7 - The Perfect Priesthood
This is an expository study of Hebrews Chapter 7. In Chapter 7, we finally dive into the topic of Melchizedek. We will discuss in some detail the significance of Abraham giving a tithe to Melchizedek and the blessing Abraham received from Melchizedek. We will discuss Melchizedek as a Biblical Type which points to Jesus Christ. This has significant ramifications on the Old Testament Covenant (the Law) as well as modern day Priests. Being a priest in the order according to Melchizedek limits who can be a priest to only Jesus Christ. The limitation to only Jesus is an effort to draw mankind closer to God.

Hebrews Chapter 5 - The Great High Priest
This is an expository study of Hebrews Chapter 5. We will look at the Old Testament Levitical High Priest and see both the good and the bad – the bad being the weaknesses of these Levitical High Priest. We then, take a look at Jesus Christ and see that Jesus truly did live life here on earth fully as a man. Christ was fully capable of sinning, and yet He did not. Christ does not have the same weakness as the Levitical High Priests. Jesus was appointed by God as our Great High Priest at His resurrection; Christ was begotten when God raised Jesus from the dead.
Finally, the author of Hebrews makes a criticism about the Hebrew Christians to which He was writing. And, of course, this criticism would apply to most Christians today, if they were honest enough to admit it. However, within the same criticism is buried the remedy, the “how to” overcome this criticism.

Hebrews Chapter 3 - Hold Fast Your Hope
This is an expository study of Hebrews Chapter 3. This chapter is clearly a continuation of the previous chapter in audience and context. The author makes it abundantly clear that he is addressing true Christians. He then goes on to compare Moses to Jesus Christ. This comparison is similar to the comparison in chapter 1 where the author compares servants to the Son of God. As in Chapter 1 where we saw the Son is God, here in Chapter 3 we see the builder of all things is God. Again, the author pointing to Jesus Christ as God. We then are encouraged to hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end. We discuss what our confidence and hope are in. Next the author warns Christians today of the deceitfulness of sin. This warning that the author gives was actually given by King David to the Israelites in David’s day. This warning points all of us back to the Hebrews during the day of the Exodus. What happened to the Hebrews during the wandering in the dessert should serve as a warning for Christians today.

Hebrews Chapter 2 - The Perfect Man
This is an expository study of Hebrews Chapter 2. The first 4 verses of Hebrews Chapter 2 actually conclude Hebrews Chapter 1. They are a warning to Christians. After looking at this warning, we take a brief look at Old Testament scriptures from which the remainder Hebrews Chapter 2 draws more conclusions. In Chapter 2 we will see that mankind is under subjection to something. We are being ruled over by something. Understanding what this something is explains why Jesus had to become a man, become a human being. Jesus became our brother. Jesus initiated a familial relationship with mankind by becoming human. And as a human, Jesus overcomes the very thing we are in subjection to, the very thing for which we are enslaved.

Hebrews Chapter 1 - The Perfect Message
This is an expository study of Hebrews Chapter 1 where we find a comparison between the messengers of the Old Testament and the messenger of the New Testament. In this study we find that the messenger of the New Testament, Jesus Christ, is far superior to the messengers of the Old Testament, prophets and angels. Because Jesus is far superior than angels and prophets, we should understand that the message of the New Testament, the gospel, is far superior than the Old Testament message, the Law.
