Hebrews Chapter 4 - The Promise Remains

This is an expository study of Hebrews Chapter 4. We will discover when God made His original promise of rest to all of mankind. Like much of the Old Testament, it was hidden in a shadow of things to come. As we continue through Chapter 4, you will see that God’s Promise of Rest has continued throughout history, from the time of the original promise, through the Exodus in the desert, into the time of King David and that same promise remains for us today. This original promise of rest is God’s Sabbath Rest.
As we have seen previously, the author continues to mix encouragement with warnings. He encourages us by telling us that God’s promised rest remains for us today, and that it is not too late. But at the same time, he is warning us to learn from the Israelites of the Old Testament: do not Harden your hearts! The overall message of Hebrews chapter 4 is: Let us hold fast our confession while God’s Promise of Rest Remains.
