Factory To Table: Part 1 - The Mini Fix by Q
In my Factory to Table series I will be documenting my progression, building out a firearm and most all of the accessory components. The series will finally culminating in taking game (hunting) with this set up. The journey starts in one of the colder months of the Pacific North West.
My first stop is New Hampshire, where I link up with Brian, one of the Engineers at Q. Brian walks me through building out a Mini Fix. Their most recent offering in their line of cutting edge firearms. A super compact, lightweight 300 Blackout Bolt Action Pistol…

The MiniFix by Q : Factory to Table Part - 9
Here we are with the final episode of the Factory to Table Series, the journey of my MiniFix and associated components and gear. It has been an amazing journey…
Initially building my MiniFix with Q LLC in New Hampshire, then welding up my Trash Panda Silencer there as well. Next driving up to make some subsonic 300 Blackout with David of Discreet Ballistics. Then on to sew up a suppressor cover with Cole-Tac. After that, sewing up a sling with Edgar Sherman Design. Assembling my Scalarworks LEAP Scope Mount with Phil. And finally putting in a ton of time on the range with the MiniFix before bringing down a feral hog with Todd Huey of Lone Star Boars. What an adventure.
In this video I give my takeaways of the project and thoughts on the MiniFix. Spoiler, it is a rad gun.

Factory to Table: Part - 7
Here we are with Part 7 of the Factory to Table series. In this episode I put in some time with the MiniFix by Q LLC. Taking it on a number of adventures into the mountains and stretching it's legs on the range.
In this episode I shoot the MiniFix for groups off of an Atlas Bipod and rear bag, topped with a Arken Optics EP-4 4-16x50 optic. As well as stretch it out to about 640 yards, just playing around. This little pistol is a ton of fun to shoot.
Be sure to join me in Part 8 when I head out in the field to hunt with the MiniFix.

Factory to Table: Part - 6 Scalarworks 30mm LEAP Scope Mount
In Part 6 of the Factory to Table Series, it is time to throw an optic on our gun. So far I've built a MiniFix Pistol in 300 Blackout with Q LLC, along with welding up my own Trash Panda .30 Caliber Silencer with then. I've then made some custom subsonic Selous loads for it with David from Discrete Ballistics, made a suppressor cover with Dustin from Cole-Tac and a sewn up a sling with Edgar from Edgar Sherman Design. This time I leave New Hampshire and head to Pennsylvania to meet up with Phil from Scalarworks.
Phil walks me through assembling a 30mm LEAP Scope Mount. They are incredible mounts. Super light, easy to put on or take off and the self leveling feature is amazing. Here is the process…

Factory to Table: Part - 5 Edgar Sherman Design Sling
It is time for another episode in the Factory to Table Series. In Part 5 I visit Edgar, of Edgar Sherman Design, and he walks me through building a sling for my MiniFix by Q LLC.
I've never been much good at sewing, but with Edgar's watchful eye and some patience, I stumble through it. Coming away from the experience with a pretty awesome custom ESD Sling that I, mostly, made.

Factory to Table: Part - 3 The 188gr. Selous Rounds by Discreet Ballistics
The Factory to Table series continues with Part -3. I head up to Northern New Hampshire to meet up with David Stark of Discreet Ballistics. He helps me with making some hunting loads for my new 300 Blackout MiniFix and Trash Panda Silencer by Q LLC.
Discreet Ballistics specializes in subsonic loads for a number of calibers. I end up loading a number of his 188gr Machined Copper Selous rounds. Designed to expand at subsonic speeds creating significant damage upon impact. Perfect rounds for hunting with subsonic 300 Blackout…

Factory to Table: Part 2 - The Trash Panda by Q
In my Factory to Table series I will be documenting my progression, building out a firearm and most all of the accessory components. The series will finally culminating in taking game (hunting) with this set up. The journey starts in one of the colder months of the Pacific North West.
Part 2 picks up where we left on in New Hampshire with Q LLC. Having just finished building the Mini Fix in 300 Blackout, it is time to build a silencer. Big Mitch walks me through building a Trash Panda Silencer. I've got to say, it was a pretty rad experience...

Aero Precision M4E1 Lower
You can find the Lower here: https://tinyurl.com/bdh8hws3
While there are a ton of AR-15 manufactures out there, I think Aero Precision is making some of the best parts for the money. I spent some time with their M4E1 Complete Pistol Lower awhile back. I took it out for a few range days and eventually took it down and ran it at the Shooter Symposium 2019.
It is a great set up with some great features built in right out of the gate. From the Magpul MOE Grip to the SBA3 Pistol Brace by SB Tactical, this thing is ready for you to throw a upper receiver on it and head to the range.

Liberty Mystic X and Suppressor Shield: 1st Look
Occasionally I get some great stuff in the mail that happens to be quite synergistic. Case in point, I received a new Liberty Mystic X Suppressor as well as some Suppressor Shield Pre-Treat Kit by Modern Spartan Systems.
If you are unfamiliar with the Mystic X, by Liberty Suppressors, it is probably the most versatile multi-caliber silencer on the market. It is capable of handling everything from .22 long rifle all the way up to .300WM. Not to mention all the calibers in between, such as 5.56mm and 9mm. With a huge variety of mounting solutions, you can use this suppressor on a ton of hosts. Being rated for rimfire cartridges, the silencer is user serviceable as well.
And that is where the Suppressor Shield comes in. It is a oil treatment that, according to the literature, makes the silencer easier to clean and maintain after being initially treated. So I went ahead and followed the steps, treating my new Liberty Mystic X.
As I get more time with the silencer, I'll see how easy it cleans up. Comparing my experience with cleaning my older legacy Liberty Mystic suppressor. Time will tell…

How To Tie Your Shoes: Like A Champion
I'm not saying you'll be a Champion if you tie your shoes like this, but I'm not ruling it out either… While most people watching this have been tying their shoes for a number of years, there is a better way.
If you have an active lifestyle, or even just don't want your shoes laces coming undone, there are not a lot of options. One of which is to double knot the laces. This is usually fine, but it can be a pain in the butt to undo when you want to take your shoes off. And, some laces are just kind of slippery and won't stay tied.
This method my buddy Matt, from Jerking the Trigger, showed me. It may well change your life. Whether you like to go on adventures, are a competitive CrossFit athlete, or just don't want your shoe laces coming undone, this might be the trick. Here is how to tie your shoes like a Champion…

Howa Oryx 6.5 Grendel: 1st Look
In this video I take my first look at the Howa Oryx bolt action rifle chambered in 6.5 Grendel by Legacy Sports International. On it is a Nikko Stirling Diamond FFP (First Focal Plane) 6-24x50 Mil scope. I'll be honest, it was a rough start. Not at all what I was expecting out of this rifle.
It is also my first opportunity to check out a new rifle case from Impact Case & Container. A pretty robust travel case made out of welded aluminum. Complete with handles, wheels, and a locking bar.
*On follow up range trips, it has since tightened up a lot. More to follow.*

Panamint City: A Near Adventure - March 2019
While my boys and I drove a loooong way to go hike up to Panamint City, some things were outside of our control. Our friend who was going to meet us there ended up being 2 hours late. So late that I decided to scratch the trip. I didn't want to take my boys up there seeing as how they were already pretty worn out after playing in the sun for the last 2 hours. It would have turned into a trail of tears and put us up at the top after sunset.
Fortunately, my oldest found the silver lining. Telling me that he was glad our friend came late, because that way we could just have a different adventure somewhere else. And that we did, exploring the Trona Pinnacles…

Blue Force Gear RED Swivel
While there are a lot of QD (Quick-Detach) Sling Swivels on the market, most are push-button. The Blue Force Gear R.E.D. Swivel takes it in a different direction. The R.E.D. stands for Rapid Emergency Detachment, and it does just that.
It allows you to quickly and easily remove your sling from a QD socket on your rifle. Whether you need to get the gun off of you or just move the location of your sling point, perhaps going from a 2 point sling to a 1 point sling, this will help you out.

Brute Force Sandbags: 1st Look
You can find them here: https://amzn.to/3lpo0jY
After competing in the Tactical Games, one of the prizes I've won has been a Brute Force Sandbag. Ughhh… Nah, just kidding. They are actually pretty cool, even though the end state is you getting punished with them.
They offer a whole variety of exercises that you can do with them. Due to their design and handle placement, the sky is pretty much the limit. After I get more time with this, I'll get back to you and let you know what I think.
You can find out more about Brute Force Sandbags and their entire line here.

How To Make A Lightweight Rifle Sling For Kids
Sometimes you just can't find what you are looking for. By way of example, I think most all rifles should have slings. And while most any sling will work on a Youth Rifle, most are frankly too big, bulky and heavy. So I set out to make a rifle sling for my son's Savage Rascal .22lr Rifle.
In this video I show you how to make a rifle sling, be it for kids or adults, using some 1" webbing, tri-glides and 550 cord. Overall it is pretty simple and a nice lightweight solution to the problem.

Tactical Games: Reveille Ranch 2019 - Part 3
If you are unfamiliar with The Tactical Games, think Crossfit meets 2 Gun Competition. The Games were started by Tim Burke, comprised of highly physical events, coupled with rifle and pistol shooting while wearing kit (body armor, holster, etc.)
My first introduction to the games was in 2018 Fayetteville NC. I went to compete as a sponsored athlete for RECOIL Magazine. I ended up coming in 2nd place in the Elite Division and overall had a great time. RECOIL put out a great video on that event which you can see here.
Mid March 2019 I participated in the Tactical Games at Reveille Peak Ranch in Texas. Overall it was a great experience at a pretty cool facility. This video follows my progress through Day 2 and the last 3 Battles of the games.
It was rough… I came off of Day 1 with my confidence somewhat restored thanks to a good last event of the day. That continued through the first event on Day 2, Battle 4. After that though, Murphy struck.
I ended up with some serious malfunctions in my rifle where my became so fouled up with unburnt powder it wouldn't function. I'm still in the process of trying to track down the culprit of the malfunctions.
All said and done, I came in 5th in the Elite Division out of 15 competitors. Not too shabby all things considered. Oh well, I had a great time with my buddies out there and met some new friends as well. And that is what it is all about…

Tactical Games: Reveille Ranch 2019 - Part 1
My journey to the Tactical Games, at Reveille Peak Ranch in 2019, started about 1 week prior to the event. Fast on the heels of the Games in Meridian, MS, I started getting my gear sorted out.
After borrowing a Glock 19 pistol in the 11th hour for the Mississippi Games, I picked up a new pistol. Something with a little better trigger... A STI Staccato - P 9mm. This was my first opportunity to put some rounds through it.
I also swapped out my Trijicon RMR for a Primary Arms Cyclops 1x optic with the ACSS reticle. Since it shares the same mounting pattern as a Aimpoint Micro, I put it into a Scalarworks LEAP Mount. Saving weight and raising the optic a little. And lastly, this trip to the range let me zero my Q Sugar Weasel and confirm it at distance.
Using some new rounds from Idaho Ordnance Factory and a handful of new ARC Magazines from Tango Down. Next stop, the 2019 Tactical Games in Texas...

The Q Cherry Bomb & Bottle Rocket: 1st Look
You can find links here: https://kitbadger.com/the-cherry-bomb-bottle-rocket-by-q-1st-look/
Since I’ve gotten a number of questions about both the Cherry Bomb (Muzzle Brake) and Bottle Rocket (Muzzle Brake for your Muzzle Brake) by Q, I figured it is time to do a video. After I spend some more time with the Cherry Bomb on a few hosts, as well as the Bottle Rocket, I will revisit them and contrast them with the A2 bird cage and probably some other muzzle brake.
If you are unfamiliar with the Cherry Bomb, it is Q’s muzzle brake which interfaces with their silencers, the Trash Panda and Thunder Chicken. The Bottle Rocket (or Yo Dog) was made as a thread protector of sorts that also works as a muzzle brake. Neither have to be timed and incorporate the magic of tapers. If you have a square shouldered rifle barrel, you’ll want to use Rocksett to secure the brake.

Uncanna Full Spectrum CBD Oil: Part - 2
*I'm not a doctor, these claims aren't validated by the FDA*
In Part 2 I take a look at how the Uncanna Full Spectrum CBD Oil has effected me over the last month. In that time I've been taking, approximately, 1 dose in the morning under the tongue.
For the next number of weeks, I will be taking 2 doses, once in the morning and once in the evening. As before I'll be taking note of not only how this effects my sleep and overall stress level, but something else.
Someone had mentioned CBD Oil being used to treat tinnitus and expressed interest. I suffer from tinnitus and got to thinking. I don't recall any ringing over the last 2 weeks… So I will be aware of any tinnitus moving forward as well.
The company Uncanna is unique unto itself in that it is veteran owned. The owner found himself on a slew of prescription drugs the the military had prescribed him. That in turn led him down the path to Uncanna, a way for him to move past the pharmaceuticals to a natural and healthy life.
If you would like to join me, you can find the Uncanna Full Spectrum CBD Oil here.
Use discount code "KITBADGER" for %10 OFF.
I am not affiliated with Uncanna, nor do I receive compensation from them.

How To Paint Your Rifle: Winter Edition
Black anodized rifles provide great camouflage, given that you are in a coal mine… …with no illumination. Lets be honest, black doesn't really blend with anything very well, especially alpine environments. So what if we wanted to paint our rifle, pistol or pretty much any gear so that it would be camouflaged in a winter / alpine environment? It turns out it is really easy.
What do we need for this project? Two cans of paint and a stencil of some sort, I prefer a section of camo netting. For paint, my favorite is Aervoe. For this project I use their White (#975) and Urban Grey (#1083). You can sometimes find these paints through DSG Arms.
Don't be intimidated, it is easier than you think. And worse comes to worse, just clean it off with some acetone and try again. Or practice on your kids Nerf gun first. In no time you'll be ready for some Arctic Warfare…
