We're dipping into a @colourpopcosmetics cult favorite today, the ColourPop Smoke N' Roses palette! For the fifth column of the Smoke N' Roses palette, we're looking at some of the most mysterious shades of eyeshadow. These eyeshadows in the Smoke N' Roses palette all have a purple hue about them, but none of the eyeshadows are completely purple. As I worked with the eyeshadows, I found that they all were fairly neutral but with a purple element. The matte eyeshadows in the ColourPop Smoke N' Roses palette were both blendable and did not get choppy while I was applying them; instead, they went on easy and blended out seamlessly. The shimmers all had different personalities, one being looser, one being silkier, and one being more granular. Altogether, though, the shimmers work perfectly and blend together to create a gorgeous, rosy purple-toned eyelid. The @colourpopcosmetics Play It Jewel eyeshadow palette is intimidating at first, but I personally think this is the ULTIMATE eyeshadow palette for anyone's collection. Many people would say that the Play It Jewel palette is a colorful eyeshadow palette, but when you really look at the eyeshadows in the palette, you'll notice that it is actually LOADED with tons of neutral tones, both light and dark. There is a small area of the eyeshadow palette that has incredibly bold and vibrant, colorful eyeshadows. The reason I think this palette is so perfect is because you can create a neutral, everyday makeup look, a dark and smokey makeup look, or a colorful, vibrant makeup look. This palette has an endless number of options for makeup looks to create. If you just want one eyeshadow palette, you need to get the Play It Jewel palette. While the @colourpopcosmetics Blush Crush eyeshadow palette is hands down one of the cutest looking eyeshadow palettes I've ever seen, I had A LOT of issues with the palette. This is all subject to personal preference, obviously, but I tend to want my eyeshadows to be brighter, vibrant, and pigmented. The ColourPop Blush Crush palette has the cutest colors, but what is in the pan and what shows up on the eyelid are two different stories. All the colors in the Blush Crush palette are incredibly muted, which I am all for, but that translated into lack of pigment for these eyeshadows. I am usually all for ColourPop shimmers, but the shimmers in the ColourPop Blush Crush palette lacked vibrancy and texture. All that being said, the eyeshadows do blend together BEAUTIFULLY, and I think that can be attributed to the fact that it is nearly impossible to apply too much eyeshadow. Altogether, I again think that the ColourPop Blush Crush palette is adorable, but I think the formula could definitely use a boost. If you are someone who prefers muted tones and is looking for an eyeshadow palette that doesn't contain high vibrancy, then the ColourPop Blush Crush palette is perfect for your taste and desires for your makeup. The @colourpopcosmetics Fade Into Hue palette is by far the MOST INTIMIDATING eyeshadow palette in the mega palette collection. The Fade Into Hue palette is obviously a rainbow eyeshadow palette, and there isn't a single neutral eyeshadow in the palette. All of the eyeshadows are either pale or vibrant shades of pure pink, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, which makes it difficult to find eyeshadows to use to blend and neutralize a makeup look. This eyeshadow palette is VERY difficult to use for everyday makeup looks, though not impossible. I like to use these eyeshadows to brighten and enhance any dark eyeshadow looks I'm creating that needs a little more vibrance and sharpness. The @colourpopcosmetics Aurora Struck eyeshadow palette is by far one of my all time favorite palettes ColourPop has released, but just like anything, it has its downsides. There are a couple of matte eyeshadows in the palette that I can only describe as chalky. Compared to the other matte eyeshadows in the Aurora Struck palette, these felt drier and lacked the pigmentation that the other mattes in the palette have. There are also a couple of shimmers that, while the swatches look vibrant, they lacked vibrance on the eyelid. When I use a shimmer, I am looking for texture and bright pigmentation, but these specific eyeshadows from the ColourPop Aurora Struck palette simply didn't perform on the eyelid the way I desired. Rubbing alcohol dries almost instantly, but is strong enough to clean the deep staining that can happen inside and outside the eyeshadow palette. The first column in the @colourpopcosmetics Matte About Hue eyeshadow palette has a range of pink that SCREAMS Barbie to me! What a perfect coincidence the Barbie Movie is coming soon, lol! The pink eyeshadows in the ColourPop Matte About Hue palette are so buttery, blendable, and vibrant. Every eyeshadow is so creamy and behaves well on the eyelid. Obviously, all the eyeshadows in the Matte About Hue palette are matte, but the range of colors is perfectly designed. From lightest to darkest, ColourPop has created an eyeshadow palette that has precisely the colors I needed to create a perfect, blended, vibrant makeup look. I think that the Matte About Hue palette is an excellent palette to have on hand if you need a specific shade of color to blend, add a pop of color, or if you need to lighten and brighten a makeup look that's gotten muddy. We've all got to go to work...let's get ready together! Today, I'm using the @colourpopcosmetics Bare Necessities eyeshadow palette, which is the original ColourPop mega eyeshadow palette. I'll be honest, friends, the Bare Necessities palette will always be one of my first loves. For today's makeup look, I went for pink shimmer eyeshadows and the lighter neutral mattes, just to keep it simple and wearable. The eyeshadows are also light and neutral enough that I didn't feel the need to break it up with eyeliner, which of course knocks off extra time. The @colourpopcosmetics Gettin' Fresh eyeshadow palette is quickly becoming one of my favorite palettes to work with. The ColourPop Gettin' Fresh palette has some of the cutest spring-time colors that are incredibly light, fresh and easy to work with. I decided to dip into some of the fresher, more muted colors from the eyeshadow palette. I feel like these colors match the personality of the Gettin' Fresh palette perfectly, the shimmers especially giving me very light, springy vibes, and I love the texture they add to the makeup look. The eyeshadow palette does have a lot of warm colors, which is hard for me to use sometimes, me being a cool-tone person. I was able to find colors, though, that offset the warm-tone colors, and made the eyeshadow look more flattering for my skin-tone. We can't talk about @colourpopcosmetics Mega palettes without talking about the Bare Necessities eyeshadow palette. The Bare Necessities palette was the first mega eyeshadow palette in the ColourPop collection, and is known for its perfect selection of neutral eyeshadows. The Bare Necessities palette is a warm-tone eyeshadow palette that obviously has neutral tones, but it also has warm-tone pinks and purples scattered throughout the palette. The Bare Necessities palette isn't as obviously organized by columns like the other mega palettes, but is organized more from lightest to darkest, corner to corner. While I tend to prefer cool-tone eyeshadows, there are occasions when the warm-tones of the Bare Necessities palette are precisely what a makeup look needs. The @colourpopcosmetics Just My Luck eyeshadow palette is one of my all time favorites! I mean...it's GREEN! I love the ColourPop Just My Luck palette because of the vibrant, rich green eyeshadows. It has a beautiful spectrum of light to dark greens for both the mattes and the shimmers, and it includes two olive eyeshadows as well! I will say that the eyeshadows in the Just My Luck palette can get incredibly patchy very fast. The only way I've found to keep the patchiness from happening is to build the eyeshadows up one at a time from lightest to darkest. The shimmers do blend out beautifully, though, except I sort of hate the Mary Jane color, lol! There is one eyeshadow, called Too Matcha, that is especially difficult to work with, as I can't really decide whether it's a shimmer or a matte eyeshadow. One thing I would suggest is not treating it like a shimmer, but more like a matte eyeshadow. I also suggest using all the eyeshadows lighter than Too Matcha before applying this dark green eyeshadow, so that you can actually blend it out. I, of course, adore this palette, but it is CERTAINLY a challenge to use.
