As well as whale encounters, you can sail with us in the cockpit and marvel at Pascale working the galley at 7 knots.

Wild Weather Woman - Free Range Sailing Ep 98
Come and see why Pascale doesn't believe in theoretical hull speed!
This week we say goodbye to Brisbane and sail north past Fraser Island to the Capricorn Bunker group. Along the way we recap on our time in Brisbane including giving you a run down on our newly built customised sullage tank, as well as, our new and improved fresh water storage aboard. When we arrive at Lady Musgrave Island, strong winds and a predicted thunderstorm with spring tides has us running for cover in Pancake Creek.
Expect light wind sailing, heavy weather sailing, Pascy drenching, dolphins and the hallmark Free Range Sailing Spanish Mackerel skull dragging at no less than 7 knots!

Fishing in Turtle Infested Waters - Free Range Sailing Ep 95
We use the north westerly winds to continue our journey south down through the Capricorn Bunker Group in the southernmost part of the Great Barrier Reef. We land our biggest Queensland Spanish Mackerel yet under spinnaker. On arrival at Lady Musgrave lagoon we explore the entrance with snorkels and the next day we anchor the yacht outside the reef to free dive with sharks and turtles!

Finding Fish 🐠 🎣🐟: It's Easy When You Know How - Ep 94
After months of sitting out storms and strong winds, we get a favorable weather report to head out to the Great Barrier Reef. Our first stop is Fitzroy Reef in the Capricorn Bunker group, a reef lagoon anchorage offering world class diving and fishing.
Troy talks fish and where to find them, we go snorkeling along the pass into the lagoon, as well as, deep free diving and spearfishing on the outer edge of the reef in 14 metres of water.

If you would like to read more about the Bustard Head Lighthouse a link to the book "The Lighthouse of Tragedy" is here: https://amzn.to/2SY5mge . The book is also available to purchase from the caretakers at the lighthouse and in the town of 1770.

Hunt and Gather - Free Range Sailing Ep 92
It's goodbye Gladstone as the wind offers us a break and we get in some fast sailing to Pancake Creek. Troy discusses the effectiveness of our traditional spear to hunt and Pascale goes gathering yabbies in the sand with a yabbie pump. We take a more in depth look at processing stingray as food, demonstrate one of the ways we like to de-hook fish without touching them and show you some of our secrets for cooking delicious whiting fillets.

Stingers, Springers and Sand in your Swimmers - Free Range Sailing Ep 91
With the weather once again taking a turn for the worse, we detour into Yellow Patch; an anchorage described as 'a Jewel of Scenery and Recreation' in Noel Patrick's Cruising Guide, "Cruising the Curtis Coast".
Pascale tries her hand at sand sledding and catches crabs, while Troy does a bit of traditional hunting. What are spring-lines and why are they important? Glad you asked.
All will be revealed!

Water-maker Disassembly and Repair : Katadyn Powersurvivor
Our water-maker fails, so Troy strips it down and troubleshoots the problem. As water-makers require periodic seal replacement, we hope this video shows others how simple it is, to field service a Katadyn Watermaker.
Along the way, we hope to share a bit of general know-how when pulling things apart and getting them to go back together!
*Note: We are not sponsored by, or affiliated with, Katadyn in any way. We purchased our Katadyn Powersurvivor outright in 2017.

Sailing! Yeehaaa! - Free Range Sailing Ep 88
Strange title? That's because we have plenty of sailing action in this video including a cracking sail out of Island Head Creek, destination North Keppel Island. Join Pascale for a swim at one of its many picturesque beaches before we sail on to Great Keppel Island where we indulge in a little bit of bushcraft, seafood and good company.

This week it's time to say goodbye to the Percy Isles and sail south to Island Head Creek. Expect stunning scenery at secluded anchorages with plenty of wildlife. We also successfully put our new crab pot to the test, get familiar with the muddy bottom and, as it turns out, we're not the only ones!

Simple Living on an Island Paradise - Free Range Sailing Ep 86
Join us this week as we explore the beautiful Middle Percy Island in the Coral Sea. We teach you some history of the place and introduce you to some of the friendly characters that live here. We spend time with our friends Meg and Darren from SV Sarean, harvest and process a bunch of coconuts, enjoy some fantastic spearfishing and cook up some local goat on the campfire.
