A severe weather outbreak currently ongoing to our west will be key to watch for potential for the same ingredients associated with it to move into the Great Lakes Region on Saturday. Currently, some questions exist regarding the strength of a capping inversion that may inhibit thunderstorm development along a frontal boundary moving across Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, and Northern Lower Michigan, but storms that end up initiating in the area will have potential for all severe hazards, including tornadoes if models continue to trend in the same manner. Following a low potential for severe thunderstorms in Ohio tomorrow, An upper-level low off the coast of California today is expected to bring severe weather to portions of the Central Plains on Monday. This same piece of energy will then lift its way towards the Great Lakes. The evolution of the low's strength and track between now and Tuesday will have heavy determination on the scope of the severe weather threat during Tuesday in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana and even possibly Wednesday in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio.

An active stretch of weather is ahead for the Great Lakes Region over the next 10 days. Tomorrow, the threat for severe weather presents itself mainly across eastern Ohio with tornado potential. Models indicate a favorable environment particularly along the Ohio/West Virginia border Thursday afternoon. After a quiet weekend, eyes turn to a pattern in which the upper-level jet settles over the Great Lakes Region, bringing multiple days of potential for showers and thunderstorms, as well as some possible severe weather next week.
