Expectantly
I am posting a lot these days, because the album is as complete as I can get it for now and I want people to hear it. I am anticipating a final master this weekend and then we will move to get a few things done for eventual distribution. The album was about Christmas but so much lingers far beyond the holiday and this song is another example. Christ’s first coming is a prophecy of a second. The song is purposely reminiscent of an old Christmas carol while being very different. The focus of both new and old, looks forward to the next appearing he has promised.
I have managed to post the album on Bandcamp in entirety, pending the final master to balance the volume between tracks. It is here along side of what escaped the fire which devastated the label or has been released since. This is almost all that remains of 148 releases we put out but it is still enough to allow you many hours of happy exploring. Please follow and subscribe if you’d like to support us.

More of What You Want (Pre-Distribution Preview
2024-01-03 My Story for Today
Life can be disappointing. Sometimes the greatest disappointments are with ourselves. Did you start the New Year with New Year’s resolutions? I usually start the year planning with my family, charting goals, and trying to live life on purpose. It’s more involved than making resolutions and hopefully is more significant and will last longer.
Some things are out of our control. Accidents, addictions, circumstances, and things that come at us from the outside still find reasons to point a finger back at us. Often it is with good cause. If only we’d been more careful, if only we’d never started developing that bad habit, if only our investments had worked out, if only we’d phrased that remark differently, etc.
Some of us have already broken that New Year’s resolution.
This is a pain that we all relate to, a need for restoration of a different kind. I long for the day when I no longer let my God down.
I’m still pointing you to that Christmas album, to the songs that are about everyday things, exacerbated by tyranny and the holiday perhaps, but with us 365 days a year. I write some of these songs about personal pain but this one is about pain I observed in a few friends. Like Christ, I want to be able to feel the infirmities of others. He came as a human in order to relate to us this way. So whether this is your struggle or not, please listen, especially if you like the blues.
PS. I used to be a procrastinator but I haven’t got around to it for a while. The whole album is up on Bandcamp now. The songs are individually mastered but not volume-balanced with each other. That will be fixed by next week, Lord willing. Full distribution will come 6 weeks after balancing the master. Next post I’ll reveal
what is coming next.

06 Forgetful Christmas Carol
I don't make albums to be popular, for shock value and be noticed, or to be commercial but to be relevant. For me, it is about a deliberate choice, to get out of this what my flesh would want or what my Lord would want. I am always pulled by the flesh but I hope tempered by the spirit. This song is a bit of shock therapy and a bit of parody. A progressive concept album is served by this better than listening to it as a single. It will take some doing but you will do yourself a favor if you hunt the whole album down. 13 songs numbered in the titles.

03 Seasons Feelings (Pre-Distribution Preview)
The Christmas album, “Outside Looking Inn” (The Great Reset Chronicles Volume 2) is now finished the day after Christmas. For the second time, trying to be obedient to the will of God, we have faced severe spiritual opposition to our efforts. The last time we were simply stunned by the intensity of the opposition. This time however, we see a possible reason that will cause a great result. It is going to take a response from us to bring it about.
The album we have been prevented from finishing on schedule is still getting out, even in bits and pieces. It is a Christmas record more relevant after Christmas than leading up to it. It won’t probably be fully available until mid February but by then the next relevant piece will also be available. I’ll let you track down what that will be elsewhere and leave you with the tease. (Hint: It is not Volume 3 which will come later. God willing.)
There are more tracks coming soon in advance of formal release. The physical CD will be available eventually by donation and Volume 1 is out of stock but should be back soon along with the re-release of a large catalog from the label as God allows financially. We have only a few copies of about a dozen titles currently available and a few recordings are well stocked.
In the meantime keep track of these pieces and spread the word. The response we need is that you see value in what we are doing, that you pray for us, and that you become whatever part of the team God is calling you to be. At least forward the video to someone who might like it. People who will be served by the music include, but are not limited to; prog-rockers, Christians or conservatives, people who hate Christmas because of negative associations, people who struggle with the aftermath of the season, and realists who need hope.

Good King Worcester Sauce
Jael is a “concept album release” kind of artist. He is a parable singer that reveals a story chapter by chapter, song by song, until the album exposes the whole story.
Singles work for artists who think in terms of hit songs and brief attention spans. Single-release artists look for Spotify or radio exposure and are often one-hit wonders, even though many release albums. If their sound is good enough and consistent over their albums, people buy the records until they get tired of the particular sound. The best of these artists only last for a few records. Then people realize their limitations and move on.
Concept albums are not an option for Jael. They are the essential frame for the art. To make a concept album work, it can’t be boring or predictable. Not every song follows the hit formula. Each one is a part of the story that may not reveal the ending and may leave you hanging. The songs need context to work individually. To pick a single from such a work does not help you understand whether you will like the album or the artist. You need the whole story.
Concept album artists, who push themselves, never measure up to expectations. They exceed them. They attempt to go beyond what fans want to hear and give them something they need. They stretch the audience and hope the fans will appreciate the journey. Each time a true artist releases something new, they lose some fans of their previous work and hopefully gain new ones. Eventually, they have the best shot at enduring. Catchy fluff is fleeting but art with depth can last.
So this is why Jael is wrestling with marketing the new album. “Outside Looking Inn” is not your normal Christmas record and is actually a story within a story. It is Volume 2 of the 4-part “Great Reset Chronicles.” For those who missed Volume 1, it was called “Feeling Used Yet?” and can be accessed at https://jltmediawerks.bandcamp.com
This album recognizes that not everyone likes Christmas. There is something about praising an ideal when reality does not match up, that increases the pain one is experiencing. When tyranny adds to the problem, the pain gets worse. The problem is compounded but would exist anyway, as people associate bad stuff that happens with the holiday. Sometimes the association is more than coincidental.
This album is hard to listen to at times, but it shows people in pain that they are noticed and understood. It is not all doom and gloom. It reveals that Mary’s first Christmas was full of personal condemnation from friends and relatives. Bethlehem was a scene of rejection, the tyranny of the day was brutal. Not simply the Roman occupation but understand that Herod also tried to kill Jesus before he was 2 years old. It also recognizes that Christ managed to change the world despite all this and that there is a future that will be made right. It shows you all is not lost. God is still on the throne.
The record will live on past the season in the same way that real circumstances live on when the festivities are over. We live in time for now but have a future for eternity. Time now is valuable and a gift, but something more is coming.
This entire project has faced incredible opposition both spiritually and politically. There are forces that really don’t want any of it heard. Details have been, and will continue to be, the subject of other posts but the point of this post is to tell you that we need you on the team. Whatever song you come across first on the record, don’t let it influence your opinion of the whole thing until you’ve heard the whole thing. If promoting a single won’t work for this record, there are 4 simple things you can do that will.
1. The first and most important, is to pray for Jael and the band. Pray that they would be obedient to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and that what God wants from this is accomplished.
2. Secondly, take a moment to pass on the music and the message to at least 3 people. That way the reach of the music will expand virally even if some are not interested.
3. Thirdly, donate. The music is made available for free even while products that have unit costs are sold. The costs of recording and promotion are covered by donations from people who believe in the value of what we do. There will be additional ways to give that become available but for now, you can do it at https://www.givesendgo.com/jaelband
4. Finally, drop a note of encouragement to Jael on Facebook or email him at jaelmusic@gmail.com. Ask to be notified of developments.
The tracklist is as follows:
1. Good King Worcester Sauce – Dark humor to set the stage. Tyranny makes everything harder.
2. Christmas Dissonance – A “King Crimson-like” beginning to the story.
3. Season’s Feelings – A reality for too many kids.
4. More of What You Want – Blues about the role of alcohol. Seasonally appropriate but not specifically a Christmas song.
5. No Christmas Gift – Losing at love is hard at any time of year but especially at a time when family and friends are so important.
6. Face to Face. - Death happens. Jael lost both of his parents during different Christmas seasons.
7. Forgetful Christmas Carol – Biting satire both musically and lyrically. Some things need to be remembered.
8. Madonna – Beginning to understand the challenges of the first Christmas.
9. Moonlight and Starlight – Rejection in Bethlehem
10. Mary’s Gonna Have A Baby Boy – The bright spot and a prophetic warning to despots.
11. Gifts – Faith for what is to come.
12. Expectantly – Looking to the future with hope.
13. On the Last Night of the Year – Focusing again on the present.
This is the third year this project has been under construction with the intention to release it on Black Friday. We missed the deadlines again. The reach of this project, since normal processes cannot be used for promotion, is really in the hands of God. Please play a part in his purposes as he moves you to be involved.
When the primary website becomes active again, it will be at http://www.jltmediawerks.com. Make sure you check out the other 3 previews available now on this site.

2022 04 29 Rolling Thunder inspired Demo by Jael the Musicman
The title of this cut is "No Lessons from History". Canada is providing lots of controversy and a great opportunity to speak up for freedom. They are proving to be in free-fall morally right now. New album from the Jael Band is just a few weeks from dropping. Drop me a note if you love freedom and believe we need to reclaim our birthrights. Jael is a citizen of both Canada and the USA and has songs that speak to the North American culture at the moment. Lyrics have already been posted on Jael Musicman's Facebook profile.

Day Is Dawning Jael Band Official Video 2022 02 03 V2 1
New original song by Jael in support of the Canadian truckers Freedom Convoy. This is the 3rd song on a new album in progress and the only country tune on the record. It's proto-typically a trucker's song. The album in typical Jael style encompasses many styles but is united by a pro-freedom, anti-overreach message. Many styles for all Canadians. If you want the whole story on how to support this musical project go here.

Jael hopes to be releasing a picture book of lyrics for the whole album soon. Subscribe to keep in touch. There's more coming.

Labeled As... Is a playlist that allows the people behind the music, production and projects to speak their minds. We gather many labels in life as we are perceived differently in different roles. Whether they are talking about a role, a project, an idea, or just want to express themselves, you can get a peek into the lives and thoughts of a team that believes in building the Kingdom of God and letting God determine the outcome.

We have sought no government money or approval and believe in freedom. We are seeking more prayer partners than donors. Check out our Jacob’s Help page on Facebook. We are trying to meet needs of believers worldwide. We carefully vet those we contribute to and have our own direction for priorities as God directs but we let our audience post prayer needs there. Musical Pencil Sketches Vol 1 Ep 5 - You First Loved Me Lord
►http://www.JLTMediawerks.com
Musical pencil sketches is for the aspiring songwriter, artist, producer or lover of music. It provides a peak behind the curtain of my own musical processes and shows you value in the song, not just the recording. It provides you a deeper look into the strongest reasons that I am an artist as you get to analyze things most important to me which are often the lyrics. Very little great art exists for its own sake. Usually there is something observed that drives motivation. Stay tuned for more. Subscribe, like, comment and share. This channel has a number of playlists that provide value to you.
I am a Christian, with Jewish heritage. This worldview colors everything I do. I observe more of life than religious themes so if something seems right, thank God. If it seems wrong, then realize this is art, not a theology class. God is still present and part of the discussion I’m attempting to have. He’s right even when I’m not. If we get into something interesting that causes each other to seek him, then it is time well spent.
You will soon realize that I’m an old school Jesus musician. The Jesus Music movie came out recently and I realize I don’t have much in common with it. When we played backyard parties, prisons, street locations, coffee houses, and a few rare churches brave enough to face the inevitable criticism, we did it to minister and evangelize. There was no industry giving us a shot. We loved Jesus and were compelled by a gift he’s given us that provided opportunity in places that were unique. Now with Covid rules, and an internet that has devalued music, pressuring people to re-invent their lives, new vistas may again open up for true disciples and artists. It feels like a new beginning. I hope you stay for the ride and bring others along.
